Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is all set to be elected as the new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). And the new BCCI President is looking forward to taking the Indian cricket to greater heights. After making India a formidable force in international cricket, Ganguly is excited and aim to work well with the new his ‘New Team’. The former left-handed batsman took down Twitter and shared a picture with the new committee of BCCI who will take the offices. “The new team at BCCI hopefully we can work well .. anurag thakur thank you for seeing this through  @ianuragthakur” said the caption of the picture posted by Ganguly in the micro-blogging website.

The former Indian skipper especially expressed his gratitude to Anurag Thakur who pushed Ganguly’s name for the post. Earlier, along with Ganguly, former Indian batsman Brijesh Patel was also in the race to get the position. N Srinivasan, who is himself a former BCCI President, wanted Patel to take the reins while Thakur batted for Ganguly. At last, a meeting in Mumbai decided that Ganguly will be the new board’s president while Patel was elected IPL chairman.

In the meeting, Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah was elected as the BCCI secretary while Anurag Thakur’s brother Arun Dhumal was handed the job of the treasurer. Ganguly has worked as a President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for five years and will continue with the position till September 2020. The Bengal-born former cricketer also expressed that his priority will be conditioning domestic cricket in the country. Ganguly will be the second Indian cricketer to become the BCCI President after Maharaja of Vizianagaram and will look to make a mark.
