India scripted history on January 7, when they defeated Australia 2-1 in the 4-match Test series. After the constant rain didn’t let any play to continue on the fifth day, the fourth Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground ended in a draw. Almost every player took to their social media profile in celebrating the historic victory, and so did Chesteshwar Pujara.

The most successful Indian batsman on tour wrote, “It's been such a wonderful few weeks in Australia, something that has become historic! Every second the team put has paid off so well. Thank you all for the love and wishes pouring in. It's been an overwhelming day, a day I'll cherish for the rest of my life!”

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly joined, too, in congratulating the Indian team for its historic triumph Down Under. Ganguly replied to Pujara’s tweet saying, “Tremendous win… this is what one plays for… enjoy every moment… congratulations to every member of the team @imVkohli @BCCI.”

“It's a terrific win. They played excellent cricket throughout, and the batting clicked. They scored 400-600 runs, and that was the key,” said Ganguly commenting on India’s heroic victory.

When asked to compare the side that toured Australia during the 2003-04 series, Ganguly outrightly denied any comparison. He said, “I don’t compare ever. India, under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly, had played valiantly against Australia in 2003-04 Test series. However, in the third Test match in Melbourne, the Indian team it lost by nine wickets, and the fourth match ended in a tie. India drew the Test series 1-1.
