Sourav Ganguly and Brijesh Patel are all set to become BCCI office-bearers. The administrators will discuss this name in the meeting in Mumbai on Sunday, Oct 13, 2019, ahead of BCCI AGM on Oct 23, 2019. Ganguly will most probably become the president of the BCCI and Patel its secretary or treasurer, as of now these both former Indian cricketers seem to be a strong contender. In the mix, names of political figures like Jay Shah, son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Anurag Thakur’s brother Arun Singh Dhumal (Himachal Pradesh) and Delhi’s Rajat Sharma will also be discussed. It is said that Jay Shah might just sneak in as one of the office-bearers. Sourav Ganguly Reappointed as President of Cricket Association of Bengal.

The clear picture of what exactly will be the look of BCCI will unfold on the night of Oct 13, 2019, after the meeting ahead of BCCI AGM, as per the sources of The Print. It is also said Jay Shah will be present in the meeting and he will represent Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) at the AGM.

Speaking about Sourav Ganguly, the only factor which seems to go against him is that his tenure will not be more than nine months, as he would complete six years at a stretch as an administrator of the Cricket Association of Bengal, in July 2020. Even Jay Shah will have almost a similar length of tenure, as he has served as an office-bearer of the GCA. BCCI would use the provision as per its constitution while applying restriction over Jay Shah and Sourav Ganguly.

BCCI took Brijesh Patel in consideration as he has been the Hon. Secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) since 1999 and controls cricket in Karnataka. Some years ago he was also the Chairman of the National Selection Committee for the Indian national team which he resigned after suffering a heart ailment.
