Cricket and drama are inseparable; and if you add Pakistan cricketers into the mix, the plot gets a lot funnier. In another dramatic incident at the Pakistan Super League (PSL), two players clashed on the cricket field.

For a change, this time the players were from the same team – Lahore Qalandars. It’s quite unusual to hear that players in the same team are seen in a scuffle when the match is midway.

In the 26th match of the PSL 2018, spinner Yasir Shah and fast bowler Sohail Khan were involved in an altercation which compelled the captain Brendon McCullum to intervene and calm the situation.

The incident happened during the 19th over of the match when Quetta Gladiators needed 30 runs to win from 9 balls. Sohail Khan, who was bowling then, was finding it tough to grab Yasir Shah’s attention who was standing on the boundary ropes. Unable to restrain himself, Sohail threw the ball angrily towards Yasir to draw his attention.

The ball missed Yasir’s head by a whisker, but a verbal volley was hurled in return. Yasir Shah returned the favour and threw the ball in return with as much anguish. Then, both the players were involved in a verbal altercation that grabbed a lot of eyeballs.

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, who is playing for Quetta Gladiators this season of PSL, said that it was the funniest moment of his cricket career. Read what Pietersen had to say:

Fortunately, the altercation didn’t alter the course of the match as their team, Lahore Qalandars, beat Quetta Gladiators by a margin of 17 runs. However, despite their third successive win of the tournament, the Qalandars’ team is on the bottom spot of the points table.
