However, the youngster has not let happiness take over him and is preparing to put his best foot forward for the upcoming challenge. Thus, Shubman Gill today was spotted at the Kolkata Knight Riders' academy in Bengaluru where he sweated it out in the nets and was seen working hard for the upcoming challenge.
Nitish Rana and Shrikant Mundhe, part of KKR, also trained at the academy. The youngster has given a series of blistering performances in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. Shubman Gill scored 728 runs in the Ranji Trophy season with the highest score of 268 which came against Tamil Nadu. In IPL 2018, he scored 203 runs. After getting selected in the Indian team, Shubman Gill said that he had a decent run in New Zealand A. “I had a decent run in New Zealand for India A followed by a really good Ranji Trophy with the bat. The knock of 268 and 148 against Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad came at the right time. I was anticipating a bit, the national team call-up. It is just an initial step. I hope to cement my berth and serve the country for a long time,” he had said while speaking to a newspaper. The first ODI against will begin on January 23, 2019.
