On the eve of the first India vs New Zealand Test in Bengaluru, Team India received worrying news about opener Shubman Gill, who is a doubtful start on October 16. On Monday, Gill complained of back and shoulder pain, with the batter's availability set to be decided on the day of the Test as per India Today. KL Rahul Reminisces His Fondest Memories at M Chinnaswamy Stadium Ahead Of IND vs NZ 1st Test 2024 In Bengaluru; Shares Special Message for Fans in Kannada (Watch Video).

With no number three replacement, the Indian cricket team might include Sarfaraz Khan or Dhruv Jurel in the middle-order, moving KL Rahul up the order. India could also field Axar Patel as their third all-rounder option with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja a sure-shot in the playing XI.

Earlier, Gill faced similar injury concerns during India's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, missing the second T20I due to a neck spasm, only to return for the final match. In his presser, India captain Rohit Sharma did not dwell much about the starting XI, stating that the call would be taken on Wednesday morning.   Virat Kohli Shares Personal Experience And Gifts Autographed Bats To Bengaluru Local Players Ahead Of IND vs NZ 1st Test 2024 (Watch Video).

India are not the only team dealing with injury concerns, with New Zealand also naming a replacement for pacer Ben Sears, who has been ruled out of the three-match series. Former skipper Kane Williamson is also ruled out of the first Test in Bengaluru owing to a groin injury, which the batter picked up during the second Test against Sri Lanka last month.

The second and third Test between Indian national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team will be played in Pune and Mumbai, respectively.
