Shreyas Iyer has gotten limited opportunities to give his best in international cricket. But, this hasn’t stopped him from performing in the domestic circuit. Ahead of the IPL 2019, the cricketer is currently playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 for Mumbai and has shattered wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant’s record during the match in Indore. After winning the toss, team Mumbai elected to bat first and lost early wickets in the form of Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw on the score of 11 and 10 respectively. Mumbai Suryakumar Yadav was on the crease when Iyer stepped into bat. The innings of 147 runs came in from 55 deliveries as hitting 15 sixes and seven minimums. With this, he surpassed Rishabh Pant’s score of 128 runs which he made during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 11. Iyer's 147 is also the fourth fastest T20 ton by an Indian. Pant, Rohit Sharma and Yusuf Pathan remain ahead of the Mumbaikar.

By the virtue of his innings, the Mumbai team posted a total of 258 runs. In return, Sikkim got bundled out on the score of 104. Shamz Mulani, Shardul Thakur both claimed a couple of wickets each.  Whereas, Dhawal Kulkarni, Tushar Deshpande and Shubham Ranjane snapped one wicket each. The Mumbai team won the game comprehensively by 158 runs.
