Shoaib Malik became the first player to play 100 Twenty20 International (T20Is) matches in cricket history. As Pakistan clashed with Australia in the second match of the T20 Tri-series at Harare, the former Pakistan captain became the most capped player in the shortest form of the game. Malik went past his former teammate Shahid Afridi, who previously held the record for 99 T20I matches.

In his 100-match career, Shoaib Malik has scored 2,039 runs, with 7 half-centuries against his name. With his inning of 37 runs in the first T20I against Zimbabwe, Malik became only the third player in the game’s history to go past 2,000 runs; the top two being Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum respectively.
Talking about 100s, England’s Colin Cowdrey was the first player to play 100 Test matches in 1968; whereas, Australia’s Allan Border was the first player to cross the 100-match in One Day Internationals (ODIs) in 1985.
