It’s been seven years now that the Pakistani Pacer Shoaib Akhtar has hung his boots from international cricket. Post this, he was appointed to be the advisor to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman by the PCB chairman Najam Sethi. However, the 43-year-old no longer wishes to be associated with the post and has resigned on an immediate basis. Shoaib took to Twitter to inform his fans and well-wishers about the decision made by him. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi resigns
“This is to announce that i have resigned from the post of Advisor to the Chairman #PCB effective immediately.@TheRealPCB #ShoaibAkhtar,” read his tweet. He served as a PCB brand ambassador for the tenure of six months. "I can no longer continue in his role as he considered it ethically wrong to continue working due to change in PCB's governance," the Express Tribune quoted Akhtar, as saying. Akhtar’s resignation comes a couple of days after former International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Ehsan Mani was elected as the new PCB chairman.

Just after being appointed as the PCB Chairman, Mani addressed the press and said, “I can tell you I will not request India to play with us. Their own policy has been contradictory, as they are always ready to play in multi-nation tournaments like the Asia Cup and the World Cup but renege on bilateral arrangements," said Mani. So I never understood their positions and the basis of their policy. Even when I was at the ICC, they used to threaten pulling out on ICC tournaments. I told them that I could suspend their membership but in my position here, I obviously can't do that. The ICC since than has been quite different, with India's influence far greater, but I will fight Pakistan's corner,” he added.
