Controversial statements and Shoaib Akhtar certainly go hand in hand and this time the former Pakistani speedster has made allegations on his former teammates for mistreating Danesh Kaneria, a Hindu cricketer who played for Pakistan. According to the former pacer, many of his former teammates didn’t like eating with Kaneria as he was a Hindu and this discrimination was making Akhtar very angry. He also said that the leg-spinner never got the credit of his sensational performance on-field but instead got humiliated. Speaking on cricket show in Pakistan called Game on Hai, Akhtar lashed out at his former teammates and spilt many beans too. “In my career, I had an argument with two-three persons regarding the issues of Lahore, Peshawar and Punjab and I used to irk by the discrimination for the Hindus,” said the legendary pacer in the interview. He also said that Kaneria was the one who played a crucial role in Pakistan’s triumph over England in three-match Test series at home in 2005 but the spinner didn’t get the credit and appreciation he deserved.

Kaneria, a holder of 261 Test wickets, played his last international match back in August 2010. He faced a life-ban in June 2012 for being found guilty in getting involved in a spot-fixing scandal. However, he is back in the news courtesy the big revelation by Akhtar. Many prominent Pakistani cricketers like Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf were participating in the 2005/6 series, the former pacer was talking about and this will certainly raise many questions.
