Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was ruled out of ongoing India vs Australia One-Day International (ODI) series after he suffered from a concussion during the 1st match in Mumbai. KL Rahul subsequently took care of the wicket-keeping duties and has done a decent job thus far. In the second ODI at Rajkot, Rahul impressed with his wicket-keeping skills as he affected stumping besides taking regulation catches. At the end of the match, Rahul was interviewed by his teammate and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan joked that Pant would now claim he is fully fit to hold his place back in the team after seeing Rahul’s good glove-work. As Dhawan trolled Pant, both he and Rahul burst into laughter.

Both Dhawan and Rahul had a good outing at Rajkot with the bat as the duo scored half-centuries. Dhawan missed out on his century as he was dismissed on 96 off 90 balls. Rahul, on the other hand, came in to bat at number five and provided his side with an impetus towards the end. Dhawan was injured after being hit on the rib cage while batting. The left-hander did no't take the field in Australia's innings. However, reportedly Dhawan is doing fine and will be available for the next match.

In response, Australia managed 304 and fell short by 36 runs. Fast-bowler Mohammed Shami picked three wickets while Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with two wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah also managed to pick a wicket. The third and final ODI will now take place at Bengaluru on Sunday, January 19.
