The left-handed batsman had an amazing start in World Cup 2019 tournament, as he scored a 117-run knock against Aussies in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 India vs Australia match. Dhawan was injured during the match after the first innings itself and could not come to the field during Australia’s batting. India won the match by 36 runs and Dhawan was also given the player of the match award. At first, Dhawan was out of CWC 2019 for two weeks but was later replaced by Rishabh Pant in the Indian squad. Left handed-batsman Pant has also played two matches in CWC 2019 so far.
