Shikhar Dhawan was instrumental in helping India level the series in the third and final T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Dhawan scored quick-fire 41 off 22 balls and helped India, who were chasing 165, get off to a solid start. The left-handed batsman during his stay smashed two sixes and six fours. India eventually won the match by six wickets as Virat Kohli finished unbeaten on 61.

The three-match T20I series ended in a draw with Australia winning the first and India the last game. The second match of the series was washed out due to the rain. Dhawan is not part of the Test squad and will now return to India. The left-handed opening batsman will be back in the country for the One-Day International (ODI) series which starts in January next year.
