For any budding cricketer, getting the Test cap for India is no less than a dream. But, for Shardul Thakur who made his debut during the second test match between India and West Indies, Hyderabad, things panned out to be quite disappointing. Just after his 10th bowl, the Mumbai pacer was seen walking back to the pavilion succumbing to a strain on the groin. The pacer could not participate in the remaining four days of the match and has been rested. India vs West Indies 2018: Shardul Thakur Makes a Debut, Walks Back to the Pavilion After 10 Balls!

However, this has not stopped the player and vows to come back strongly. Thakur took to social media and posted the video of himself receiving the cap from Ravi Shastri. The caption of the clip read, “Not quite the kind of Test debut one would have hoped for, but the moment I wore my whites and the Test cap no. 294, it gave me the sense of pride, honour and courage to go out there and give it all. I vow to come back fitter and stronger from this injury and get back soon into the mix. Thank you everyone for your love and support so far. #teamindia #testdebut.”

Shardul was the 294th test player that India had. However, this is not the first time that the pacer walked back to the pavilion due to an injury. The last time, during the Asia Cup 2018 which was held in UAE, Thakur had injured his hip during the first match between India and Hong Kong. Shardul could not participate in rest of the series.
