Interestingly, Shan and Shafique's 253-run stand is also the fourth highest for Pakistan for the second wicket in Test cricket, where Mushtaq Mohammad and Zaheer Abbas slammed 291 runs against England in Birmingham in 1971. Tendulkar and Sehwag's 336 came in the historic Test, where the latter became the first Indian to break the 300-run mark in red-ball cricket. Meanwhile, Pakistan are in the driver's seat with their team total above 300 with the end of play on Day 1 in sight.
