Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi doesn’t mind expressing his views regarding Indian cricket. Days after Afridi said that Virat Kohli needs to improve as a captain, the former all-rounder has expressed his views on MS Dhoni. Afridi was of the view that no-one has the right to tell Dhoni when to retire. Dhoni’s form lately has taken a dip and many believed that the former Indian captain should retire from international cricket.

Though Afridi has the different opinion when it comes to Dhoni, he believes the wicket-keeper batsman has achieved a lot for the Indian team. "What Dhoni has done for team India nobody else can and nobody has the right to tell him when to retire. 2019 Dhoni needs to be there for India to have good chances" Afridi was quoted as saying by Times Now. Shahid Afridi on Virat Kohli, ‘He Is My Favourite Player, but Needs to Improve As Captain’

Dhoni has struggling of-late and his last half-century in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) came last year against Sri Lanka. In the recently concluded ODIs against Windies, Dhoni failed to impress. He was subsequently left out of the T20I squad against Windies and Australia.

Having retired from Test cricket, Dhoni’s next assignment will be against Australia next year, provided he is picked by the selectors. Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are giving Dhoni the tough competition and both are currently part of the India team on tour of Australia.
