Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi now becomes the youngest bowler to pick a five-wicket haul in Cricket World Cup history. The youngster achieved the feat against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (CWC 2019) at the oceanic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Obuya, a leg-break bowler, scalped 5/24 in his quota of ten overs against Sri Lanka during the 2003 edition of the Cricket World Cup in South Africa. Afridi apparently is playing in his first World Cup. He has previously represented Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup as well.

Interestingly, Afridi did not feature in the first few games in this World Cup for Pakistan and played his CWC19 match against Australia. The 19-year-old pacer ended with figures of 6/35 and registered best bowling figures by a Pakistan bowler in World Cup history, interestingly surpassing former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi's 5/16 against Canada in 2011 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 94 runs to register their fourth consecutive win in the CWC 2019. Afridi made his ODI debut last year against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. He has represented Pakistan across all the formats. In 19 ODIs, the youngster has thus far picked 40 wickets.
