Right then, the target for West Indies is 308 to avoid the ignominy of a clean sweep. It's going to be a daunting task for them on this pitch against the Lankan spinners. How will they fare against the tweakers? Do join us in a short while to find out.

West Indies blew hot and cold with their bowling efforts. They weren't consistent enough with their lines and lengths and served too many boundary deliveries. On a surface which was on the slower side and assisting the spinners, it was very odd to see Hayden Walsh bowling just three overs. Alzarri Joseph had yet another good outing with the ball and finished with a 4-wicket haul which has taken his tally to 10 wickets in this series.

A strong finish by Sri Lanka! They have posted a very challenging total on a treacherous pitch. Opting to bat, the Lankan openers provided a steady start in Powerplay 1 but in the next 10 overs, West Indies pulled things back by picking a couple of wickets. The pair of Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera then got into the act and built an 89-run partnership. Towards the end, Thisara Perera and Dhananjaya de Silva's stand provided the impetus as the home team zoomed their final total past the 300-run mark.

Dhananjaya de Silva is caught for a quick interview. Says that he is happy with his knock which has come after a long time. Adds that he has been in good form from the Pakistan series. Feels it's a good score on this pitch which is on the slower side. He is banking on the spinners on this deck and mentions that bowling well in Powerplay 1 will be the key. States that bowling slow on this pitch will help their cause.

Pitch report - It's the fast bowlers who tend to do better in Kandy which is very unusual. If you hit the right length, you will get something out of the track. The dimension of the ground is a shade shorter than Hambantota. Plenty of cracks on the surface and the spinners will come into play as the game progresses.
