India vs West Indies Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - T20I Summary
That is all we have for you from this game. It was not an entirely one-sided affair and the Windies did make a fist out of it. The second T20I will now be played on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 1900 local (1330 GMT) in Lucknow, which will be another new venue in India. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
KULDEEP YADAV HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Smiles and says that it is very important to take wickets in every game but sometimes things do not go his way. On his favourite dismissal in this game, Kuldeep says that the one he got by bowling seam-up, was his best as the batsman was foxed. Stresses that this is one delivery which he is working on as in T20 cricket, batsmen always come after you or if they cannot score of you, they get singles. So, it is important, he says, to keep on developing oneself.
Victorious Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, agrees that it was an exceptional performance with the ball by India. Adds that the pitch had something in it for both seamers and spinners. Is happy that his bowlers made the perfect use of the conditions on offer. Admits that the run chase got a bit tricky but looks at it as a learning curve for batsmen, when conditions get tricky. On Oshane Thomas, he reckons that the fast bowler is a good talent and an interesting prospect with decent height. Observes that he gets the kick from his height and predicts that if he gets it in the right areas, he can be a handful. Wishes him a good future. On Krunal and Khaleel, Sharma is excited with the talent on offer. On the former, Rohit says that he has been playing with Krunal in the Indian T20 League and praises him for coming to the captain and demanding the ball to bowl to Pollard. Is confident that the all-rounder can make this game count.
Windies captain, Carlos Brathwaite blames his batsmen for batting in only one gear - third, never looking to try and settle down in the middle. But is happy for his bowlers. States that the unit is a young one which wants to express itself. Laments the current state of the Windies and wants the pride to be restored, as it was, in the 70s and the 80s. Is proud of Thomas and wants him to grow as a cricketer and wants him to work on his fitness. Reckons that he could be the next Joel Garner.
Earlier in the evening, India restricted the Windies to a 'paltry' 109 which did not turn out to be that paltry in the end. Not surprisingly, the bowling was disciplined and accurate but towards the end, became a bit wayward.
Nothing to feel ashamed of, for the Windies. Their batsmen let them down but the bowlers bowled their hearts out. Keemo Paul was the only disappointment, as he struggled to build on the pressure piled on by Thomas. But the rest did well.
The top order Indian batsmen might look at this as an opportunity lost. Not many times do you see THIS Indian side lose wickets quickly and tonight was a chance, for batsmen announcing their names for the future, to make themselves count. The bowling was good, no doubt but the batsmen threw their wickets away.
Comfortable victory for India in the end. They did make a heavy weather of it though. Oshane Thomas struck terror in the top order while Brathwaite picked up 2 in the middle. However, the total was not that great to put pressure on the batsmen and eventually, one good partnership sealed it for the hosts. That was the 38-run one, between Pandey and Karthik.
