India vs West Indies Highlights And Cricket Score 4th Match - ODI Commentary
1st Inn
2nd Inn
End of Over : 50.0IND: 377/5
As things stand, you'd back India to win this one. But this game is all about the start. If the Windies' top order can provide that, then they have the likes of Hetmyer, Powell and Holder in the middle who can capitalize on that. Let's see how the Indian bowlers fare on this surface. Join us on the other side of the break for all the action.
The Windies bowling was rather listless today. Yes, the Brabourne Stadium is batting friendly, but conceding so much anywhere is poor. The wickets weren't easy to come, but what the visitors didn't do effectively was plug the run flow. Allowed Rohit and Rayudu in particular to score too freely. All went for a lot of runs.
Needless to say, a mammoth total on the board for the Men in Blue. And it's all because of the local boy Sharma and Rayudu's 211-run stand. Electing to bat, Dhawan and Rohit got their side off to a flier. Dhawan departed and Kohli soon followed, but Rohit found an able ally in Rayudu and the two mixed caution with aggression perfectly. Rohit went on to cross 150, while Rayudu scored a fine century of his own. Dhoni, Jadeja and Jadhav added some vital, quick runs down the order and ensured India got to 377.

Ambati Rayudu is having a chat with feels that it has been a very competitive series uptil now. Reckons that the wicket looks good and the side that ACTUALLY bowls well today will win. On his batting, he feels that he is in good nick but wants to convert his starts into big knocks. Wants to play to the merit of the ball and keep himself busy. On the previous game, he stresses that India were in control till he and Pant were batting but unfortunately both got out very quickly. But is not too perturbed and wants the Indian batsmen to bat as they normally do. Hopes to get a big score today.
Windies captain, Jason Holder, says that he is happy to bowl first as it is a fresh wicket and not much international cricket has been played here. Hopes his bowlers make use of that and strike early. Does not want to look too much into the series and wants to win today first. Informs that Keemo Paul comes in for Obed McCoy.
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, reckons that the surface looks nice and hard and he has heard that there is not much dew here around the evening. Also feels that there could be some movement later on. Feels that this is a high-scoring ground and informs that his side has got more batting depth today. Wants to give his bowlers some extra rest, hence the decision to bat first. On the Windies, Virat agrees that they are side which cannot be taken lightly at all as they play hard cricket. But feels that losing is also a part of the journey and how a team bounces back from a loss is a true indication of its character. On the team news, Kohli informs that Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja come in for Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal.
TOSS - Time for the spin of the coin. Kohli flips it but Holder calls incorrectly. INDIA WILL BAT FIRST.
PITCH REPORT - Sunil Gavaskar reckons that the surface looks good for batting, devoid of grass. feels that the spinners will get a little bit of grip but it will be beautiful for batting. Observes that the outfield is lush green and the ball will travel. Adds that India might want to chase here, as dew is a possibility.
WEATHER REPORT - Well, it normally does not rain in Mumbai beyond September but after what has happened in the last 2 years, wherein we have witnessed rainfall even in October and November, might keep fingers crossed anyway. The forecast says bright and sunny and gut feeling is it will stay that way. However, not many expected rain last night in Oman and Dubai. So... hope that mother nature gives preference to cricket.
It is game time! Not many would have expected this but it is actually 1-1 after 3 completed ODIs. Barring the first match with the ball, the Windies have stretched the hosts in all the games. However, India is a unit which rarely buckles under pressure. Will we see a bounceback today? Hello and a warm welcome to the fourth ODI between India and Windies at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
End of Over : 36.2WI: 153/10
A total anti-climax to what has been happening in the first 3 ODIs. For the first time in this series, the Windies did not fire with the bat at all. They will be hoping to forget tonight's game and come out refreshed come the final ODI, on Thursday, November 1, at 1330 local (0800 GMT). Do join us then. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Man of the match Rohit Sharma says he has been practicing some slip catching for a while and it was good to hold on to some catches today at first slip. Adds further that it is a bit tricky to field in the slips specially to Kuldeep, but reckons that playing him in the nets has helped him in fielding in the slips. Mentions that it was a clinical performance while batting as after losing 2 quick wickets they played well to come up with a big, match-winning partnership which helped them put a big total on the board. Ends by saying that it is very heartening to see such kind of a performance from the bowlers.
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli says he is happy that they ticked all boxes in all three departments pretty well. Adds further that in the last game the Windies put them under pressure and reckons that his team did really well today to bounce back with such a performance. Credits Ambati Rayudu for the way he batted at number four position. Ends by saying that the youngster Khaleel Ahmed is an exciting talent and if the pitch has something to offer he can be a good force to reckon with.
The Windies captain Jason Holder admits that they did not play well enough today. Feels that they gave away too many runs in the first innings. Adds further that during their batting their batsmen did not apply themselves well in the middle and hence they lost early wickets which meant that they were behind in the game from the very beginning. Ends by saying that probably he may come higher up the order from the next game.
Manjrekar on the ropes is seen interviewing the youngster, Khaleel Ahmed, who says that he had hoped that there will be some moisture in the wicket which will help him and that is exactly what he got. Informs that he is working on his bowling and practicing hard in the nets. Reckons that he has practiced well and today the execution of the plans was much better. Regarding the wicket of Samuels, he mentions that the batsman was expecting an inward shaping delivery but the ball went away taking the outside edge of Marlon's bat. Adds further that there is no harm in appealing when there is a chance of getting a wicket. Ends by saying that he will look to continue with such good performances in future as well.
Virat Kohli will be a pleased man tonight. His bowling and fielding were top notch when it mattered the most, but, it turned a bit clumsy towards the end. Khaleel Ahmed was in prime form, making the ball move both ways and nipped out three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also claimed a 3-fer and altogether it was a team effort by the Men in Blue to go 2-1 up in the series.
Chasing a mammoth total, Windies lost wickets in clumps upfront. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early to get the initial breakthrough and that was followed by a couple of run outs, of which, one was of Shai Hope. The tourists were dented badly after that blow and never recovered. Shimron Hetmyer, another star of their batting line-up, flopped and that left them reeling. Jason Holder fought a lone battle, scoring a half century, but he only delayed the inevitable.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, the Indian openers provided a strong platform. Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu were involved in a double century partnership to pave the way for India's big score. Both the batters got their respective hundreds in the process and entertained the local Mumbai crowd with their delightful stroke play.
Commanding show by India to take an unassailable lead in the series! They were under the cosh after losing the last match but have roared back to register a roaring win. This is their third biggest victory over a team in terms of runs - BIGGEST OVER A TEST-PLAYING NATION. Everything went according to the plan for the home team in all the three departments and they went on to steamroll the resurgent Windies unit.

India vs West Indies Highlights And Cricket Score 4th Match - ODI Commentary
Keemo Paul to Kedar Jadhav. FOUR! Jadhav finishes the innings off in style. It's quite full, on the stumps and right in the slot for Jadhav. He gets under it and hammers it down the ground. Beats the man at long on and sends it across the boundary line. INDIA FINISH ON 377/5!

Kemar Roach to Ravindra Jadeja. Angling across, on a good length, Jadeja runs it down to third man for a single.
Ravindra Jadeja to bat next.
Kemar Roach to MS Dhoni. OUT! Dhoni is gone! A bit of an anti-climatic end to his stay in the middle. Still remains one short of that 10k mark in ODIs. Full and angling in on the pads, Dhoni flicks this aerially. Doesn't get the placement right and hands a straightforward catch to Chandrapaul Hemraj at short fine leg.
Kemar Roach to MS Dhoni. Dropped! But what an effort from Fabien Allen. Amazing try. Full and in the slot, Dhoni looks to go big downtown but only skies it to the cover region. Fabian Allen to Ambati Rayudu. OUT! Good work from Allen. Nicely done. Brings an end to a fine knock from the Indian no.4. Allen does well here. Seeing Rayudu give the charge, he shortens the length. The batsman can only force it to covers and he takes off. Allen moves to the ball, turns and scores a direct hit at his end. Rayudu starts walking but the umpire takes it upstairs, just to be sure. Replays show Rayudu is gone, but not before playing a superb innings.
A direct hit! Rayudu could be gone. He's already walking. Over to the TV umpire now, but seems he's gone.

Keemo Paul to MS Dhoni. FOUR! Overpitched outside off, Dhoni squeezes it out square and lofts it over point. Nobody out there in the deep, so a boundary results.
The physio is out to have a look at Dhoni. The magic spray is out, should do the trick. Nothing too serious from the looks of it, MS should be fine to continue.
Keemo Paul to Ambati Rayudu. Hundred for Ambati Rayudu. His 3rd in this format. 80 balls is all it's taken him. The Brabourne Stadium is up on its feet to applaud the effort. The run is completed though.

Ashley Nurse to MS Dhoni. MSD drives this tossed up ball on off through mid-on and gets off the mark.
Ashley Nurse to Rohit Sharma. OUT! A bit loose from Rohit and that results in his downfall. RS goes after a wide and full ball outside off. It is too wide though as he cannot control his shot and ends up slicing this uppishly to the man at short third man. Hemraj, the fielder there, dives in front to take a good catch. West Indies get Rohit and that can save them 20-30 runs. The Windies will be more than happy to see the back of this dangerous shot-maker.

A total anti-climax to what has been happening in the first 3 ODIs. For the first time in this series, the Windies did not fire with the bat at all. The Windies captain Jason Holder admits that they did not play well enough today. Feels that they gave away too many runs in the first innings.
