Earlier in the day, Windies should have scored a lot more than they did. They had crossed the 200-run mark before the 40th over, courtesy Hope's ton and Chase's half ton. However, they lost their way after that and were restricted to 261 which proved to be an easy score to chase down for Bangladesh.
The West Indies bowling was very poor! They were wayward with the new ball. Either bowled it down the leg side or outside off which made it easy for the two batters. Even with the old ball they could not bowl with a lot of control. Shannon Gabriel and Roston Chase did take a wicket each but that was probably too late.
How easy was that? Bangladesh have done this in a canter! 262 was supposed to be a challenging total on a wicket which did have something for the bowlers but easy work was made of it. Their openers led the way with a 144-run stand. Sarkar was then dismissed but Tamim continued with Shakib. The two added another 50-plus run stand before Tamim got out 20 runs short of a ton. Rahim and Shakib then ensured there were no more wickets to fall and with an unbeaten 68-run stand with the latter scoring a half ton, took their team over the line.
