West Indies vs Ireland Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - ODI Commentary
One would probably feel the Windies have batted the Irish out of the game. There is no doubt that the Irish will go for it but they will need something spectacular. Can they pull it off? Stay tuned to find out.
Not a lot to write about the Irish bowling. Dockrell did bowl well but was unlucky, he looked the most threatening but despite that, he went for around 8 per over. The pacers were taken to the cleaners. However, McCarthy and Adair did have something to smile about as the former finished with a two-fer and the latter with a wicket to his name.
After being inserted, Campbell was nearly run out on the very first ball of the game but Ireland failed to hit the stumps then. After that, it was all about the two openers. They smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground. Both not only managed to score tons but they ensured they scored daddy tons. They registered the highest opening stand of 365-runs in ODIs but the two perished in the same over itself. The runs then dried up but the total is still a huge one.
A power-packed batting performance by the Windies comes to an end! WOW! They though would feel a little disappointed that they haven't got to 400 but they will be extremely pleased with their overall effort.

Hello and welcome to Match 1 of the tri-series between Ireland and West Indies in Dublin. All the three teams would like to give their best and would be eager to win as it would be a good boost heading into the World Cup. The first game is between Ireland and West Indies. The visitors are slight favorites but after Ireland's performance against England, they surely can topple the visitors. Who will come on top? We will have to wait to find out. Windies skipper, Jason Holder, says it is a satisfying victory for them. Credits John Campbell and Shai Hope's excellent innings. Holder also says the bowlers did well especially Shannon Gabriel. Mentions that they will look to continue their performance in the next match also.
Ireland skipper, William Porterfield, starts by crediting the Windies openers. Mentions they were at a decent position after the first hour but once the two got in, they took the game away. Adds further that it is a learning curve for the youngsters and they are going to get a lot of opportunities and they will have to grab it. Ends by saying they need a few partnerships from the batsman at the top to lay a platform and that is what they will be working on.
John Campbell, Man of the Match, says that he is happy with his performance and he is even more pleased with the victory. Adds that they put a big score on the board and that helped their bowlers to perform well.
Every Windies bowler except for Holder had a wicket at least to their names. Nurse finished with 4 and Gabriel was the second highest with a three-fer. Stay tuned for the presentation.
After the batsmen, the Windies bowlers also did their job brilliantly. Kemar Roach and Sheldon Cottrell made quick work of the top order. Kevin O'Brien then, first with Andy Balbirnie and then Gary Wilson stitched two decent stands. Kevin scored a half ton but a lot more was needed. Once he fell though, the remaining batters could not stick around and from 152 for 3, they have been bundled out for 185.
A very, very dominating performance by the Windies has saw them win the first game of the Tri-series. To be honest, after they posted 381 on the board courtesy tons from Shai Hope and John Campbell, the result was never in doubt.
