England vs Australia Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - T20 Commentary
As mentioned earlier, Australia's bowling throughout was exceptional and it was well backed up by the fielders. Kane Richardson and Billy Stanlake were quite efficient while Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Agar and Andrew Tye didn't let the momentum slip in the middle overs. The target is not a big one but this pitch has something to offer to the bowlers if they are skilful. Let's see how the second half pans out. Do join us in a short while.
A top-notch captaincy responded well by the bowlers and the fielders! Australia have managed to restrict England to a below-par total. Their bowlers picked three wickets in the Powerplay overs and that broke the batting of the touring team. They tried to recover through the partnerships threaded by their skipper, Jos Buttler with James Vince and Sam Billings but that too didn't allow their innings enough impetus.
Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. OUT! Another catch made to look easy in the field. Ashton Agar is the fielder this time. Richardson bags a 3-fer. He angles in a full ball around middle and leg, Buttler lifts it over mid on, a short-arm jab but fails to gain enough power behind the shot. It balloons in the air and Agar sprints across to his left from long on to catch the ball. All too easy. ENGLAND END ON 137/7!
Kane Richardson to Chris Jordan. Fullish and outside off, 117.9 kph, Jordan hits it down to long off for a single.
Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. Knocks a full ball down to long on for one.
Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. Short and on middle, pulled to deep mid-wicket and returned for the second run. Made it with a dive.
Chris Jordan is the new batsman.
Kane Richardson to David Willey. OUT! Warner takes the skier safely and it ends Willey's short stay. The Aussie skipper is omnipresent. He can be seen everywhere in the field, got a run out and now the second catch along with his captaincy. Must be loving all the attention. Good length ball around off, Richo holds his pace back a bit this time, Willey is early into the shot and mistimes it in the air towards extra cover. Warner does the rest.
Kane Richardson to David Willey. LUCKY FOUR! Good start to the over for England! A length ball around off, angling away, Willey with an open stance tries powering it over the leg side but gets a top edge over the keeper. A boundary at third man.
Kane Richardson to bowl the final over.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Fuller and slower around off, Buttler stands first across the stumps and then goes down on one knee to sweep it through backward square leg. A couple taken.
Andrew Tye to David Willey. Full toss around leg, lofted over mid-wicket for a single.
Andrew Tye to David Willey. Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
Andrew Tye to David Willey. FOUR! Nicely done, have to say! A slower bouncer around leg, Willey holds his willow like a periscope and at the very late moment guides it down to fine leg for a boundary.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Wow, a terrific yorker on middle, Buttler cannot do much as he digs it out back to the bowler. There are still deliveries in cricket which cannot be hit often. You need a very good eye to judge the yorker and then a strong bottom hand to put it away.
Andrew Tye to David Willey. Slower length ball outside off, Willey taps it down towards point for one.
Billy Stanlake to Jos Buttler. Spears in a full ball on middle, Buttler heaves it across the line, not properly timed and it falls in no man's land in the deep at mid-wicket. A couple taken. On any other ground, it would have gone for a maximum.
Billy Stanlake to Jos Buttler. Once again. The action replay of the last delivery, this time it's a bit closer to the leg stump and since Jos was across the stumps, the umpire gives the benefit of doubt to the bowler. No wide called. Good to see.
Billy Stanlake to Jos Buttler. Wide! Buttler shuffles across the stumps and Stanlake bowls it down the leg side. He misses the flick and the umpire signals a wide.
Billy Stanlake to Jos Buttler. FOUR! Edgy! Buttler goes hard at a full ball around off and edges it past the keeper for a boundary. The pace of Stanlake sometimes works against him. This one just hurried across everyone.
David Willey is in next.
Billy Stanlake to Sam Billings. OUT! Billings falls. Positive captaincy by Warner. In spite of two boundaries, he kept mid on and mid off inside the circle, took that chance and it paid off. A mistimed shot this time by Billings as he chips a length ball towards mid off. Warner himself is present there, moves back a bit and grabs it with ease. A good little knock by Sam is over!
Billy Stanlake to Sam Billings. FOUR! Another great shot! Stanlake goes short and around middle, Billings stays back and hammers it over mid on for a boundary. Warner might rethink about his field.
Billy Stanlake to Sam Billings. FOUR! Billings is putting up a little bit of display! A length ball around off, good pace, Billings hops back to make space and drills it through extra cover for a boundary.
Billy Stanlake into his final over.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Play and a miss! Slower length ball outside off, Buttler attempts a reverse-batted shot but misses. 10 from the over.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Wide! Another slower ball gone wrong by Tye. He bowls it way wide outside off and Buttler leaves it alone.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Short in length around middle, it's pulled to deep square leg for a couple.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Slower and fuller around off, Buttler mistimes his shot back to the bowler.
Andrew Tye to Sam Billings. Forces a full ball down to mid on for one.
Andrew Tye to Sam Billings. FOUR! Boom! Lovely shot. A short ball around off, Billings executes a nicely timed reverse-batted pull over backward point. A boundary results as there was no fielder in the deep.
Andrew Tye to Sam Billings. Wide! Tye bowls a slower one but it's way wide outside off.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Short and on off, punched away to sweeper cover for a run.
Andrew Tye returns.
Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. Walks down the track and tries to flick but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It rolls back to the bowler. Tidy spell by Agar, 4-0-27-0!
Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket. One run added to the total.
Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. Fires in a flatter and shorter ball on middle, Buttler makes space to punch it through covers but gets a bottom edge.
Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. Tickles it off his pads to short fine leg and switches ends.
Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. FOUR! Agar fires this one outside off, 100.9 kph, Billings shuffles across the stumps and sweeps it fine down the leg side for a boundary. Had he missed, he would have been either bowled or lbw. Took chance there and it paid off.
Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. Advances down the track to a full ball and eases it down to long on for one.
Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. NOT OUT! Good use of the technology. Billings survives. A length ball around off, Sam gets across the stumps with the paddle shot but fails to middle it properly. There is some noise and deflection as it flies behind to Carey. He catches it, they appeal, the batsman is not going anywhere and now up goes the finger. Billings is quick to signal for the DRS. The replays roll in and the Hot Spot detects no wood and there is a spot on his thigh pad. Hmm...
Sam Billings is given out caught behind. He immediately takes the DRS. There is certainly a deflection, let's see what the replays say...
Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. Too full and wide outside off, Buttler rockets his drive to sweeper cover for one.
Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. Another play and a miss! A slower bouncer outside off, an off cutter, Buttler tries to ramp it over but misses. The keeper though fumbles and they collect a couple of byes.
Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. Play and a miss! Plenty of movement inside the crease, tries playing the paddle scoop to a full ball outside off but fails to connect.
Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. Direct hit would have been curtains for Sam Billings! Second opportunity missed by Glenn Maxwell today. A short ball on off, Sam mistimes his pull shot to mid-wicket, straight to the fielder and attempts an impossible run. Completes it because of sheer luck.

Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. Fires this one on middle, Buttler pushes it out back to the bowler.
Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. Eases it down to long on and rotates the strike.
Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. SIX! High and handsome! England will hope that this shot breaks the shackles. Billings gives the charge to a tossed up delivery, gets inside the line and launches it over long on for a biggie. A spectator in the crowd tries catching the ball but fails as it falls on the sightscreen.
Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. Another run on the leg side with a gentle tuck off his pads by Buttler.
Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. Drags his length short and bowls it on the middle, Sam pushes his weight inside the crease and works it around through mid-wicket for another run.

Ashton Agar is back on.

Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. Good length ball on off, turned through the gap at mid-wicket for one.
Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. Beaten all ends up. Probably this one stays a bit low after landing on a length outside off, Sam swings and misses as it goes under his bat.
Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. Fuller and on middle, flicked straight to mid-wicket.
Marcus Stoinis returns. David Warner is quite proactive with his bowling and fielding changes. A thinking skipper, something that was lacking.
Billy Stanlake to Sam Billings. Stanlake this time bowls it full and on the middle stump line, Billings gets the chance to flick it off his pads. Finds the gap at mid-wicket and gets off the mark with a single.
Billy Stanlake to Sam Billings. Defended off the back foot by the batsman.

Billy Stanlake to Jos Buttler. On a length around off, blocked off the back foot.
Smart bowling change by David Warner. He is not holding back. He is eyeing wickets. Brings Billy Stanlake into the attack. If they can get Buttler at this stage, it will be a massive boost.
Andrew Tye to Sam Billings. Defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery. Another successful over for Australia.
Andrew Tye to Sam Billings. Billings gets the opportunity first ball to play it towards point but an ever alert Maxwell stops it with a dive.
Sam Billings walks in next.
Andrew Tye to James Vince. OUT! Vince is fooled by a slower one and loses his stumps. Terrific thinking by the bowler. He nearly deceived James on the first ball of this over and this time gets the better of him. Tye serves it at a pace of 116 kph, yorker at the base of the off stump, Vince is way too early into the shot and misses the ball. Tye is ecstatic and gets mobbed by his teammates. On closer look, the replays show that it was the knuckle ball. Brilliant work! England in deep trouble.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Short in length on middle, pulled through square leg for a run.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Wide called for height! Buttler ducks under a slower bouncer which goes way over his head.
Andrew Tye to James Vince. Played to the point region by the batsman. They pick up a single.
Andrew Tye to James Vince. Clever slower delivery, on a length around off, Vince fails to pick it and is through with his shot early. It takes the inside edge and rolls near the stumps. He eyes a run but is sent back as Tye fails to kick it onto the stumps. No run taken as Carey backs it up.
Andrew Tye comes back to bowl.
Ashton Agar to James Vince. Driven through mid on by the batsman. They pick up a single.

Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. Quicker on the pads, worked towards fine leg for a run.
Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. On a length around middle, worked around the corner for a run. 8 from this over, a good one for England. They need a few more like this before they can launch.

Andrew Tye to James Vince. Slower ball outside off, Vince tries to drive but is beaten.
Andrew Tye to James Vince. Another confusion but once again no harm done! The calling between these two is just not the best. A short ball on middle, Vince mistimes his pull towards mid-wicket and calls for a run. Buttler this time responds and Vince sends him back as the ball goes straight to the fielder. Buttler now has to turn and rush back. Finch there fires a throw on the bounce to Tye who fails to collect it and dislodges the stumps with his hands. Replays, later on, show that even Tye had collected it, Buttler would have been in, only by just.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. The batsman works it down the leg side. One run added to the total.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Short to start with by Tye. Buttler rocks back and pulls it in the gap in the square leg region for a brace.
Andrew Tye to bowl now.
Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. Pushed to mid off, the batsmen once again took on Warner but that time the Aussie skipper did not hit the stumps at the keeper's end. A single to end the Powerplay and Australia will be really happy with it. England are 42-3.
Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. The batsman has driven that ball straight back.

Vince wants a single but Buttler hesitates at first. He eventually goes through with it. Maxwell runs in and underarms a throw at the striker's end but misses. He picked the wrong end there. Had he gone for the bowler's end it would have been interesting.
Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. Direct hit and Vince was a goner! On a length around off, Buttler taps it towards cover-point and calls for a run. Vince responds and is halfway down the pitch. Seeing Maxwell get to the ball quickly, Jos refuses. Vince is stranded halfway down the pitch but luckily for him Maxwell misses at the non-striker's end.

Jos Buttler comes out to the middle.
Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. OUT! David Warner has pulled off a stunning piece of fielding! Captain leading from the front. He is a live wire, isn't he? Run out is the last thing England wanted but this was just brilliant from the Aussie skipper. A fuller ball on middle, Malan pushes it towards mid off and sets off for a run. Warner there is quick to the ball, dives, picks it up and scores a bull's eye at the non-striker's end with an acrobatic throw, all in one go, mind you. They appeal and they are quite confident about it. The umpire goes upstairs and the replays show that Malan is well short. He walks back now, a big, big wicket for Australia as Malan was in form.
Is Malan a goner? Warner scores a direct hit at the non-striker's end and Malan might be short here.
Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. FOUR! Very clever, very clever from the southpaw! A short ball around middle, Malan was maybe expecting it. He waits back and guides it over the vacant slip cordon for a boundary.
Billy Stanlake to James Vince. On a length around off, worked towards mid-wicket for a quick run.

Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. WOAH! This is brilliant by Stanlake. Pace, swing everything. On a length around off, angles away from the batsman. Malan tries to defend but is beaten.
Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. In the air...but safe! A short ball, with a lot of venom. Malan is rushed into his shot as he tries to pull. The ball hits the top portion of the bat and balloons towards short mid-wicket but the fielder can't get to it from mid on.
Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. On a length around off, guided down to third man for a run.
Dawid Malan walks out to the middle.
Billy Stanlake to Alex Hales. OUT! Stanlake strikes! What a catch by Finch, he has made this skier look so easy. A length ball on middle, Hales goes after it as he tries to hit it across the line with a pull shot. The length is not quite there for it and he mistimes it in the air. It lobs towards long on. Finch turns and runs back from mid on to catch it on the second attempt. An early strike for Australia and Hales once again bags a failure.
Billy Stanlake to Alex Hales. On a length around off, Hales pushes it to point.
Billy Stanlake to bowl from the other end.
Kane Richardson to Jason Roy. FOUR! Boundary to end the first. 12 from it. An expensive start by Kane. He bangs it short on middle, Roy stands tall and pulls it through mid-wicket for the first boundary of the day.

Roy pushes at the ball, away from his body. He gets an inside edge which goes past the leg stump, down to fine leg for a couple. A lucky start here for the away side.
Drum rolls and fireworks as the players and match officials walk out to the centre. Alex Hales and Jason Roy will open the batting for England. Kane Richardson will open the bowling for Australia. He has a slip in place. Here we go...
England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Jos Buttler(w/c), Sam Billings, Liam Dawson, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran.
Australia (Playing XI) - David Warner(c), Aaron Finch, D'Arcy Short, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey(w), Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson, Billy Stanlake.
TOSS - Australia win the toss and opt to bowl. They have Aaron Finch back in for Travis Head. England, on the other hand, have made two changes - James Vince comes in for the injured Eoin Morgan, whereas Liam Dawson comes in for Mark Wood.
England, on the other hand, have some middle order issues to be resolved. It has failed to capitalize on the starts given to them by their top order. The away side would hope that does not happen today. They will be without their regular skipper, Eoin Morgan. Jos Buttler will be the stand-in captain and it will be his third T20I game as skipper. They would hope for their fortunes to change under him and head to New Zealand with a win. Stay tuned for the toss report...
Hello and welcome to the game no. 3 of the tri-series and it is a repeat of the last one. Australia will lock horns with England, this time though at a different venue, the MCG. The home side got the better of visitors in the previous encounter courtesy one man, the big show, Glenn Maxwell. They would now look to end their home season with a win to book a berth in the final.
So that is it from this game. It may come as a surprise that Australia have dominated all three T20Is so far but they have played some tremendous cricket under David Warner. They have barged into the finals. England, on the other hand, need to win their next game if they want to make it through. They will be playing New Zealand next in Wellington on the 13th of February at 1900 local (0600 GMT). Do join us for that. You can now switch tabs to catch all the updates from the 4th ODI between South Africa and India. Cheers!
Winning skipper, David Warner, says the players are in tremendous form and are playing fearless cricket. Credits the bowlers for their performance. Further adds that all the bowlers have stuck to the plans and delivered. Appreciates D'Arcy Short for the way he has played. Ends by saying he is looking forward to the games in New Zealand.
Man of the Match, Kane Richardson, says he is surprised to be chosen for this award. Praises Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar for the way they bowled. States that they are enjoying their cricket and mentions that there is a lot of clarity in the team.
Losing captain, Jos Buttler, says he is disappointed with the performance. Admits nobody could kick on with the bat and they were outplayed by the Australians. Reckons that they have performed way below their ability. Ends by saying they are looking forward to their games in New Zealand.
Not a lot to say about the English bowling tonight. David Willey started off really well but received no support from the rest. Jordon did pick up two wickets but they weren't timely ones. They needed wickets in heaps and they also had to keep the runs down but failed in doing both. Join us for the presentation in a while.
To be honest, the match was set up by the bowlers of Australia and their batsmen did the finishing job. Chasing a target of 138, a total which many tipped to be below-par, the home side did get off to the worst of starts by losing Warner early. However, after that Lynn and Short combined to make full use of the Powerplay before the former departed towards the end of it. The English spinners did come on and bowled a few tight overs but once Glenn Maxwell and D'Arcy Short took them on, it all went awry for the touring team. Aaron Finch towards the end scored an unbeaten 5-ball 20 to score the remaining runs with utmost ease.
3 out of 3 for Australia and they march into the finals of the Tri-Series! Once again it has been a commendable performance from the Men in Yellow. They have made a mockery of the target set in front of them.

The umpire though shakes his head and Buttler after a chat with his bowler takes the review. They go upstairs and replays show it has hit the pad and there is no bat involved.
