England vs Australia Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - T20 Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 ENG: 155/9

Alex Carey had mentioned at the start of the innings that 175 would be a par total on this surface. Can 155 be defended? Is the pitch too slow? Stay tuned for Australia's reply...

The spinners turned the game for Australia with the ball. Agar, Head and Maxwell went for 39 runs in a combined 6 overs for 5 wickets. Stanlake was a bit expensive tonight but other than him, the rest were excellent.

It was a great start from England. Hales, Malan and Morgan kept scoring and attacking, hitting fours and sixes at will. But once Morgan was dismissed, the tide turned. England slipped from 94/2 to 137/9 - losing 7 wickets for 43 runs in 47 balls.

An innings of two parts. 96/3 in the first 10 - 59/6 in the next. Spectacular comeback from the Aussies.

19.6 6

Andrew Tye to Chris Jordan. SIX! What a way to finish the innings! A short ball around off, Jordan pulls it over mid-wicket to clear the ropes! ENGLAND END ON 155/9!

Mark Wood is the last man in. 16 balls left.

17.2 W

Andrew Tye to Tom Curran. OUT! Super ball, super catch! The knuckle ball. Not many in the world pick that. Neither does Tom Curran. he has made up his mind to go over the off side but does not read the slower ball. Is early into his shot and the ball lobs over cover. It seems easier for the sweeper to come in but instead David Warner chooses to run back. Sweeper is alert and backs off. The skipper keeps his eyes on the ball and then takes a fantastic catch. Then pumps his fists in jubilation.

17.1 1

Andrew Tye to Chris Jordan. Outside off, played wide of point for a single.

Andrew Tye to bowl the 18th.

End of Over : 17 9 Runs ENG: 136/8
16.6 6

Billy Stanlake to Tom Curran. SIX! ADMONISHED! What a shot first ball! A short ball on middle, Curran shows the rest how the pull shot is to be played. Pulls it off the middle wayyyy over id-wicket! Better over for England - 9 runs with a wicket. Stanlake finishes with 4-0-43-1.

16.3 W

Billy Stanlake to Adil Rashid. OUT! Number 8 falls! A short ball, on middle, Rashid picks out the slower ball and goes for the pull. However, he mistimes it as the ball goes off the toe end of the bat, straight to Marcus Stoinis at deep mid-wicket! What a collapse.

16.2 0

Billy Stanlake to Adil Rashid. A good slower ball, on a length outside off, Rashid flashes but misses.

16.1 0

15.5 1

Glenn Maxwell to Adil Rashid. No hat-trick. Full and on the pads, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.

Adil Rashid in at number 9, to face the hat-trick ball.

15.4 W

Glenn Maxwell to David Willey. OUT! Stumped! Two in two! Excellent bowling from Maxwell but what has Willey done? Blindly comes down the track in spite of seeing his senior partner get dismissed on the previous ball. Misses it and Alex Carey behind does not miss. Stumps him in a flash. Willey tries to drag his foot back but is late. Maxwell on a hat-trick!

Chris Jordan walks in at number 8.

15.3 W

Glenn Maxwell to Dawid Malan. OUT! Malan cannot stay there till the end. What a gamble from Warner. It pays off. Malan looks to take on Maxwell, going for the sweep against the turn, with the wind. But all he can do is spoon a catch to Andrew Tye at deep backward square leg! End of a brilliant knock.

15.2 1

Glenn Maxwell to David Willey. Comes down the track and drives it to sweeper cover for a single.

15.1 0

Glenn Maxwell to David Willey. Short and outside off, cut straight to point.

Interesting. Warner bringing on a part-timer Glenn Maxwell in the 16th over.

14.1 W

Ashton Agar to Sam Billings. OUT! Second wicket, second caught and bowled! Agar cannot believe his luck. Neither can Billings. He jumps down the track, is not to the pitch of the ball, but still looks to flick. All he manages is a leading edge back to the bowler. This time Agar has no one standing in front of him as the ball comes straight to his left side. Australia pulling things back big time.

Ashton Agar is back on.

End of Over : 14 9 Runs ENG: 122/4
13.6 1

Kane Richardson to Sam Billings. On middle, Billings looks to flick but gets a leading edge which does not carry to David Warner at cover! A single taken.

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. Driven through mid on by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.

12.5 wd

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. WIDE. Stoinis gives the umpire a mischievous smile. A short ball around off, Malan lets that go. From the front on angle, it did not seem a wide but the side on one confirmed it.

12.4 1

Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. On middle, whipped through mid-wicket for a run.

12.3 0

Marcus Stoinis to Sam Billings. Full and outside off, Billings gets a good stride in and defends the ball to the off side.

Sam Billings is the new man in.

12.2 W

Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. OUT! This time the slower ball does Buttler in! Excellent bowling from Stoinis. Rolls his fingers over it, deceives the batsman and the striker is early into his push towards mid off. Does not even bother to run once he mistimes the shot. Because he knows where it is heading. Towards one of the most dependable Aussie fielders at mid off. Glenn Maxwell cups it close to the ground. A big, big wicket with the death overs approaching.

12.2 wd

Marcus Stoinis to Jos Buttler. WIDE. Slower ball goes awry, is well wide off the guidelines. Left alone.

12.1 1

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. Full on middle, flicked wide of long on for a single.

Another bowling change. Marcus Stoinis is back on.

End of Over : 12 4 Runs ENG: 107/3
11.6 0

11.5 1

Andrew Tye to Dawid Malan. Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.

11.4 0

Andrew Tye to Dawid Malan. A short ball around off, angling away, Dawid looks to pull but the bounce does him in. Goes off something and hits him on the helmet. Tye goes for the catch but does not get to the ball. Replays show that the ball hit the right bicep, then the helmet. A few Aussie players ask Malan whether he is okay and he nods with a thumbs up.

11.3 1

Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. On a length outside off, Buttler hops and pushes it through the covers for one.

10.5 1

Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. The batsman has pushed it to the cover region. The batsmen have run through for a single.

10.4 1

Ashton Agar to Dawid Malan. Outside off, Dawid pushes at it and the ball goes off the inside edge towards fine leg. A run taken.

10.3 0

Ashton Agar to Dawid Malan. NOT OUT. What a waste of a review. Wonder what Agar heard there. Absolutely nothing on the Snickometer or Hot Spot. The arm ball, outside off, Malan looks to punch it through the line on the off side but misses. The keeper is ready to throw the ball back to the bowler but Agar is off and running to celebrate with his skipper. Then he realizes that he is the odd man out in a kids' party. Starts to appeal but the umpire calmly shakes his head. Now Agar signals the 'T' to Warner who tries to calm him down but the bowler is adamant there is an edge. Don't think Warner is too convinced but he decides to celebrate Friendship Day. That is a sorry review. Nothing to the naked eye, no sound, nothing on technology either. Australia lose their sole review.

HOWZZAT??? Boy, Agar is extremely confident. No one else has even moved a muscle. The bowler wants the review and his captain agrees.

10.2 0

Ashton Agar to Dawid Malan. This is a tad quicker, still short, punched towards long on but mid-wicket intercepts.

10.1 1

Ashton Agar to Jos Buttler. A slow ball, a tad short, around middle, Buttler goes back and works it through mid-wicket for a single.

Ashton Agar is back on.

Jos Buttler walks out at no. 5.

9.4 W

Glenn Maxwell to Eoin Morgan. OUT! In the air... caught! Another England batsman pays the price for going across the line! Maxwell tosses this one up outside off, also gets it to turn away a little. Morgan tries to go big but across the line. He gets a top edge which goes high up in the air towards mid off. Warner from covers goes running towards the ball and takes it reverse cup style. Another timely wicket for Australia. England are scoring at a good rate here but are losing wickets at regular intervals.

9.3 4

Glenn Maxwell to Eoin Morgan. FOUR! Once again Morgan hits it through covers! Maxwell floats it up on middle, Eoin again goes inside out over covers and another boundary results.

9.2 2

Glenn Maxwell to Eoin Morgan. EDGE BUT RUNS! Slower through the air on middle, Morgan goes down on one knee and tries to sweep but it goes off the top edge over the keeper and down towards third man for a couple.

9.1 0

Glenn Maxwell to Eoin Morgan. Fires it on middle, Morgan drives it back to the bowler.

Glenn Maxwell into the attack.

End of Over : 9 9 Runs ENG: 88/2

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. Floats it up on off, driven to covers.

7.3 6

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. SIX! WOW! What timing! That has gone all the way! Head tosses it up on off, Morgan goes inside out. At the first look, it did not look like he got to the pitch. He though still went ahead with the shot and it goes all the way.

7.2 2

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. Tosses it up outside off, Morgan drives it through covers and bags a brace.

7.1 4

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. FOUR! A gift to start with! A full toss on off, Morgan backs away and drives it over extra cover and the ball races away.

Spin from both ends! Travis Head is into the attack.

6.5 1

Ashton Agar to Dawid Malan. The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. They pick up a single.

6.3 1

Ashton Agar to Eoin Morgan. Fires it on off, Morgan works it through mid-wicket for a couple.

6.2 0

Ashton Agar to Eoin Morgan. Flatter on off, Morgan punches it through covers.

Eoin Morgan walks out to the middle.

6.1 W

Ashton Agar to Alex Hales. OUT! Caught and bowled! The bowling change has done the trick here. A much-needed wicket for Australia. Agar tosses the ball on middle, Hales tries to play the across the line and pays the price for it. He closes the bat face early and it goes off the leading edge towards Agar who for a second must have been blinded as Malan was standing right in front of him as Ashton went for the catch. He though still did well and grabbed it at the last moment. He also signals to the keeper that he did not see it. A good partnership comes to an end.

Spin for the first time tonight! Ashton Agar comes into the attack.

End of Over : 6 10 Runs ENG: 60/1
5.6 4

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. FOUR! The last two balls spoil the over! 10 from it! Short and on the body, Malan pulls it with disdain, through fine leg for another boundary. Back-to-back for him. Also that is the end of the Powerplay, a good one for England. They are 60 for 1.

5.5 4

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. FOUR! Up and over! Full and outside off, it is the slower one. Malan this time lofts it over covers and the ball races away.

5.4 0

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. In the air... but well short! Another slower ball, banged into the pitch. Malan is into the pull shot early and it goes off the bottom end of the bat, uppishly towards mid on where Agar comes running in but can't get to it. Just 2 runs from the first two balls, it has been an excellent over until now.

5.3 1

Marcus Stoinis to Alex Hales. A direct hit would have been close! On a length around off, Hales plays it towards Maxwell at point and sets off for a run. Maxwell collects the ball and has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses by a long way. Replays later on show that had he hit, Hales was a goner.

5.2 1

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. Slower short ball on middle, Dawid pulls it through square leg for an easy run.

5.1 0

Marcus Stoinis to Dawid Malan. Fuller on middle, Malan whips it towards mid-wicket for no run.

Marcus Stoinis to bowl the last over of the Powerplay.

End of Over : 5 8 Runs ENG: 50/1

4.5 1

Andrew Tye to Alex Hales. Played to the point region by the batsman. One run added to the total.

4.4 1

Andrew Tye to Dawid Malan. On the pads, Malan works it away on the leg side to change strike.

4.3 1

Andrew Tye to Alex Hales. Shorter in length on middle, Hales pulls it but it goes off the toe end towards square leg for a run.

4.2 0

Andrew Tye to Alex Hales. Good length on off, Hales blocks it.

4.1 4

Andrew Tye to Alex Hales. FOUR! A bad start by Tye! Short and on the body, not a ball you want to be bowling with fine leg up. Hales helps it on its way over short fine leg for another boundary.

The first change for Australia. Andrew Tye is into the attack now.

Alex Carey is miked up. He says that the pitch looks flatter than the previous one. Feels that there might be a little bit of dew later on in the evening. Adds that 175 could be a decent target to chase. Compared to the SCG, he feels that this is a truer wicket and reckons that Billy Stanlake is going to be very crucial for Australia.

End of Over : 4 9 Runs ENG: 42/1
3.6 0

Kane Richardson to Dawid Malan. Good length outside off, Malan lets it be.

3.5 1

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. A short delivery which has been pulled away. They pick up a single.

3.4 4

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. FOUR! Streaky but Hales won't mind. A fuller ball on off, shapes away a touch. Hales tries to drive it straight but it goes off the outer half through point where Maxwell tries to stop it but can't and the ball races away.

3.3 0

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. BEATEN! On a length around off, it shapes away after pitching. Hales tries to defend but gets beaten.

2.4 6

Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. SIX! All the way! Stanlake is being taken to the cleaners here. Shorter in length on middle, Malan loves it there, he rocks back and pulls it over the square leg fence for a biggie. 14 runs from the first 4 balls.

2.3 4

Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. FOUR! Exquisite! It is a delight watching a left-hander playing that shot. Full and wide outside off, a half-volley. Malan leans into it and drives it through covers for a boundary.

2.2 0

Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. Shorter in length around off, Malan pulls it firmly but straight to mid on.

2.1 4

Billy Stanlake to Dawid Malan. FOUR! A good delivery but that was excellently timed! Billy went for a yorker but ended up bowling a low full toss on middle. Not easy to put those away though. But Malan gets bat to it and flicks it through mid-wicket. Such is the timing that it beats Head who gives it a chase and also dives but all in vain.

End of Over : 2 6 Runs ENG: 17/1
1.6 0

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. Defended off the back foot by the batsman.

1.5 1

Kane Richardson to Dawid Malan. Walks across and works it around the corner to get off the mark.

Dawid Malan walks in at no. 3.

1.4 W

Kane Richardson to Jason Roy. OUT! Richardson draws first blood! He could have had two in this over had Maxwell taken the catch of Hales. Nevertheless, he has Roy to his name now. A soft dismissal. Kane bowls a slower ball on off, it stops a bit in the surface. Roy is early into his shot and he balloons a catch to Tye at covers who accepts it with ease. An early wicket for Australia. They needed this after the start the England batsmen got off to. They would now look to pull things back.

1.3 0

Kane Richardson to Jason Roy. The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball.

1.2 1

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. DROPPED! Maxwell drops a sitter! Short and wide outside off, Hales cuts it uppishly towards point where Maxwell gets two hands to it but can't hang on. You don't expect Maxwell to be dropping those, you have seen him take some blinders and he is mighty disappointed with himself. How costly will this prove?

1.1 4

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. FOUR! Welcome Richardson! Fuller in length on off, Hales times it beautifully through covers for a boundary.

Kane Richardson will bowl from the other end.

End of Over : 1 11 Runs ENG: 11/0
0.6 1

Billy Stanlake to Alex Hales. Ends the over with a good delivery! On a length around off, jags back in a little. Hales gets it off the inner half through square leg to end the over with a run. 11 runs from the first over. An ideal start for England.

0.5 1

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Good length on off, Roy taps it on the leg side for a quick run.

0.4 2

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Good effort in the field by Richardson! Another poor ball on the pads, Roy flicks it towards fine leg where Kane makes good yards to his right, dives and saves two runs for his side.

0.3 4

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. FOUR! Bad ball and put away! Stanlake this time errs in line and bowls it on the pads. Too easy for Roy as he walks across and flicks it fine down the leg side and the ball races away for the first boundary of the game.

0.3 wd

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. WIDE! There was some swing there but the line was wrong. Way outside off, swinging away further. Roy leaves it and the umpire signals a wide.

0.2 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. A better length by Billy. Slightly on the fuller side and just outside off. Roy lets it be.

0.1 2

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Runs straightaway! Shorter in length outside off, Roy needs no sighters as he goes after it. He lofts it over the cover fielder, not from the middle but enough to collect two.

Perfect cricketing conditions here in Hobart tonight. We are all set for the action to begin. Alex Hales and Jason Roy will open the innings for England. Billy Stanlake, who bowled a fiery spell in the last game will open the bowling for Australia. He has two slips in place. Here we go...

England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan(c), Jos Buttler(w), Sam Billings, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran, Mark Wood.

Australia (Playing XI) - David Warner(c), D'Arcy Short, Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey(w), Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson, Billy Stanlake.

TOSS - Australia win the toss and opt to bat. They have made a single change. Travis Head comes in for Adam Zampa. For England, Alex Hales and Chris Jordan have been passed fit and they are straightaway slotted into the eleven.

England on the other hand, will look to continue their limited-overs domination over the Aussies and kick-start their campaign with a win. They though, are up against a different and a hungry looking Australian squad than that in the one-dayers. We are in for a cracking contest. Stay tuned for the toss in a while.

Hello and a warm welcome to the second game of the T20I tri-series between Australia and England at Hobart. The home side have already registered a win in their first game and David Warner would look to bag his second win as captain in T20Is, in Australia with a victory here tonight.

End of Over : 18.3 AUS: 161/5

So, that ends the coverage for this game as well and it is Australia who finish on top. They have now won two out of the two matches they have played and have one foot in the final. England on the other hand, still have three games left and they would want to get back to winning ways. Starting from the 10th of February where they will be facing today's opponents in Melbourne at 7.20 PM local (8.20 AM GMT). Also now you can switch tabs and watch the South Africa-India ODI. Goodbye and take care!

Victorious Aussie skipper David Warner says that it was a clinical performance and admires Maxwell's innings. Believes that hitting hard is the way to go upfront. Also feels that it is handy to use spinners, even though he be a part-timer. Credits his bowlers for bringing Australia back into the game. On Maxwell's innings, Warner says that is the way he plays - taking on risks and gambles. Is looking forward to seal the spot in the final in their next game.

England captain EOIN MORGAN Morgan felt that his team got off to a reasonable start with the bat. Stresses that they played well on a really good surface. Laments that collapse of 6/30-odd towards the latter end of the innings, stating that they were 20-25 runs short. Feels that the shot selection was not the best. However, he does admit that it is a game of risks and gambles but tonight, those did not pay off. On the Maxwell catch, he says from the position at cover where he was, it looked out. But he respects the third umpire's decision. Is proud of the way his team fought with the ball but believes that the game was lost with the bat.

GLENN MAXWELL has been named the MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that it was nice to get one over the top and finish the job. Adds that Australia have not had great T20I success over the last few years and hence, it is nice to start off well. On his batting form, Maxi says that it has been good. Stresses that he has been carrying his form through Sheffield Shield Cricket. Just aims to carry on this good form and keep it consistent. On being left out of the ODI squad, Glenn says that it was frustrating not to play for Australia in the ODIs and even in the Ashes. Hence, he feels nice to be back in Aussie colours. On coming to bat early, GM says that he has been able to bat against the new ball through the BBL, batting for the Melbourne Stars. So tonight was not that difficult. On when he realized about his chances of a century, Maxwell replies that only when he was back on strike on ball number 4 of the 18th over, did he ask Carey to go for two. On the controversial Jason Roy catch, Maxi says that from his end, it seemed like the ball was grassed. So he thought of hanging around and let the third umpire do his job.

With the wicket of Short, England sensed a comeback and took some quick wickets but it was Maxwell who kept a calm head and played throughout. Yes, he did get a couple of chances but he made full use of it and not only took Australia to victory but also brought up his ton with the last ball of the game. David Willey was their highest wicket-taker with three scalps but England's fielding let them down big time. Jason Roy missed a controversial chance of Glenn Maxwell on 59, but before that Alex Hales missed a fairly simpler chance when he was on 40. Cost the visitors the game. Stay tuned for the presentation.

An excellent bowling performance by the home side saw the away side being restricted to an average total. They needed early wickets if they were to defend this and David Willey did provide them that by taking two in the first over. Both, Warner and Lynn were back in the hut and England looked to be on top at that moment. However, D'Arcy Short and Glenn Maxwell started to counter-attack and the duo stitched a 78-run stand which turned the tide completely in the Australia's favor.

A fairytale ending in the end then for both, Australia as well as Glenn Maxwell. The latter has scored 100 out of the 156 Australia were chasing and has single-handedly taken them to victory. He walks off to a standing ovation and deserves every bit of it.

18.3 6

Mark Wood to Glenn Maxwell. SIX! It is a hundred! What a win for Australia and what a knock by Maxwell. He takes Australia home and also gets to his ton! David Willey to Glenn Maxwell. Direct hit but Maxwell's dive saves him there. Willey bowls it on the pads, Glenn misses the flick and is hit on the pads. David Willey to Glenn Maxwell. FOUR! But has Roy hurt himself there? A full ball on middle, Maxwell goes down town. Roy in the deep runs to his left and puts in a dive as he tries to pull the ball back in. He is not able to do so and due to the momentum he crashes into the advertisement boards. He looks to be in pain but seems to be fine now.

David Willey comes back into the attack.

End of Over : 15 6 Runs AUS: 117/4

Roy there at first misjudges it but then goes down low and he seems to have taken it. Maxwell though, feels it has been grassed and hence continues running. He completes one and also goes for the second but the umpire asks him to wait and then walks up to the leg umpire and after a chat they go upstairs to check. The soft signal is out and after several replays the umpire rules it in the favour of the batsman. Buttler collects and whips off the bails and then appeals. The umpire takes a late call and refers it upstairs and in the replays, the foot is shown going in the air. But is it back down in time? One look certainly does not seem convincing but the third umpire is happy. Rules it not out.

Stumping appeal! is Stoinis gone?

Interesting. No Travis Head. Marcus Stoinis has been sent in at number 5.

8.4 W

Adil Rashid to D'Arcy Short. OUT! That is a stinger! What a catch. Very full on middle, Short, getting frustrated with the piling dots, goes hard at it. Hits the ball straight back to the bowler, who initially ducks out of the way but out of pure reflex, sticks out his right hand. And the ball sticks! That ends a partnership of 78 in 48 balls.
