South Africa vs Sri Lanka Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - ODI Commentary
South Africa's innings was all about partnerships. In spite of losing wickets, they always had the upper hand due to that. Sri Lanka have a big task ahead now. Their batting has been below-par in this series so far and they have to bat out of their skin to overhaul this target. What will happen in the chase? Do join us in a short while to find out.
Sri Lanka's bowling was pretty much substandard. Apart from a quiet period when Faf du Plessis was dismissed, they never managed to gain the upper hand. The runs continued to flow and there was no pressure applied by the Lankan bowlers. Kamindu Mendis, the ambidextrous debutant, was the most economical bowler whereas Isuru Udana with a couple of wickets was the most successful one in terms of wickets taken.
It all started with Sri Lanka putting South Africa to bat after winning the toss. Reeza Hendricks was dismissed cheaply but once again the touring team encountered the pair of de Kock and du Plessis in sublime form. The duo raised a 97-run stand in quick time and punished the Lankan bowlers to all parts of the park. The South African skipper lost his wicket soon after the first Drinks interval but in came yet another handy partnership for the Proteas. Quinton de Kock broke his deadlock by stroking a fluent century after 17 innings while Rassie van der Dussen continued with his amazing form to notch up one more score of a fifty.
Outstanding cameo from Andile Phehlukwayo towards the end as South Africa amassed 53 runs in the last four to take their total past the 325-run mark. We witnessed some power hitting in the death overs and Sri Lanka looked clueless against the onslaught. This is now South Africa's highest score batting first in Durban in ODIs.

Our coverage of this game comes to an end. Two inconsequential matches are still left in the series and both teams will take that as an opportunity to try different team compositions and game plans. The fourth ODI is on Wednesday, 13th March and we look forward to your company at 1300 local (1100 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
South African skipper, Faf du Plessis says that the batting was one thing they were looking forward to. Opines that they were brilliant today. Praises Dwaine Pretorius' knock and lauds the way Miller and Phehlukwayo finished the innings. States that scoring runs at the death is critical and to have big hitters in the tank is something they are blessed with. He is happy that the talking they did after the last game was put into action today. He is overall satisfied with today's work. On winning the series, du Plessis replies that it's great and they are looking forward to the next two matches. Mentions that regardless of the result, they will be trying out new combinations.

As a team, de Kock wants to keep doing what they are doing currently.
Sri Lankan skipper, Lasith Malinga says that their bowling was not up to the mark and they misfielded quite a bit also. Adds that they didn't get a good start and the DLS revised target was a bit too much. Feels the rain came at the wrong time as Kusal Mendis and Oshada Fernando were doing a good job. Considers Kamindu's bowling as a positive. On the World Cup plans, Malinga replies that they want to give opportunities to players to gain confidence and do their job.
Chasing a target in excess of 300, Sri Lanka required a quickfire start but it never came. Niroshan Dickwella fell early and then after a bit of resistance, Avishka Fernando also departed. The pair of Oshada Fernando and Kusal Mendis looked good in the middle but the rain intervened and ate out too much time from the chase. When the chase resumed, Sri Lanka were handed almost an impossible task of scoring 118 runs off 48 balls. South Africa bowled Imran Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi post that and the spin twin finished the job efficiently.
An easy win for South Africa and they take an unassailable lead in the 5-match ODI series. It was a professional effort from them with the bat. Quinton de Kock led with a fine century and all the other batsmen, barring Reeza Hendricks, played good hands. Partnerships were the main feature of their innings as they went on to post a big total on the board. The Sri Lankan bowling once again was listless and apart from debutant Kamindu Mendis, the rest struggled.
