Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - ODI Summary

End of Over : 46.5 SL: 238/10

Okay! That ends a longggggg second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Karachi. A quiet affair, with nothing happening outside the cricketing field. The third and final ODI will be played on Wednesday, 2nd October, 2019 at 3 pm local (1000 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

Victorious Pakistan captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, is all smiles. On the big partnership blooming in the middle for Sri Lanka, Sarfaraz says that the bowlers need to work on being more consistent with their lines and lengths in the middle overs. With the bat, he wants batsmen to convert their starts and play a longer innings. On any possible changes for the final ODI, Ahmed says that he would like to play with his first-choice XI but also hints at giving a few chances to some new players.

Sri Lankan skipper, Lahiru Thirimanne, praises the effort by Jayasuriya and Shanaka but is disappointed with the way his team handled the first 10 overs with the bat. On his team's bowling, Thirimanne agrees that it was not bad but feels that they could have restricted Pakistan under 300. Stresses that the bowlers did well at few stages but towards the death, leaked a few runs. On the positives in this game, Lahiru cites Shehan Jayasuriya's example and looks out for more youngsters to make the most of these opportunities.

USMAN SHINWARI HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Thanks the almighty for enabling him to make a comeback after 6 months. Assesses the wicket to be on the slower side and hence, he resorted to bowling cutters. On him doing well against Sri Lanka, Usman smiles and says that he was hit for a lot in his debut, hence, he is returning the favour. On his efforts to come back into international cricket, Shinwari says that he bent his back really hard to come back and the almighty helped him as well.

Earlier in the day, a clinical batting display from Pakistan got them to 305 after electing to bat. The openers laid a solid platform and then Babar Azam played a calm knock of 115 to keep Sri Lanka at bay. Please stay tuned for the presentation...

Usman Shinwari and Mohammad Amir used the new balls efficiently and made life miserable for the Lankans. Even though Usman got half the wickets of the entire team, everyone else, barring Shadab Khan was excellent. The leggie was having a bad outing, going for 76 in a shade under 10 overs.

Shanaka's calculated attack took some pressure off Jayasuriya who then started to come into his own. However, some cramps then hampered the latter before he eventually got out. Other than that stand, nothing much was worth writing about, except for Pakistan's bowling in this innings.

Chasing 306 to win, Sri Lanka got off to a horror start before two lesser known players got them back on track. Well, in front of the target, they were always behind the 8-ball but at least, that 177-run stand gave them some respect and hope. Either side of that partnership, only 61 runs were added. Shehan Jayasuriya was playing a calm knock but it was Dasun Shanaka who injected some momentum into the chase.

Where did this match end? When Babar scored a century? When Pakistan crossed 300? When Sri Lanka were 28/5? Tough to say. Looking at the fight shown by Shanaka and Jayasuriya, if the top order had contributed a bit more, who knows, we might have had a different result.

Right. The first complete ODI in Karachi in a long while. And Pakistan come out victorious. Not a surprise to many but that record 6th-wicket stand between Shanaka and Jayasuriya almost gave some other ideas.

Shadab Khan to Wanindu Hasaranga. OUT! Caught! That ends the game. PAKISTAN WIN BY 67 RUNS TO TAKE A 1-0 lead in the now turned 2-match series. A tossed up ball outside off, Hasaranga swings it towards deep mid-wicket but does not quite connect well. Iftikhar Ahmed comes running in from deep mid-wicket and pouches it, albeit a bit too quickly. The ball almost pops out but he controls it.

Shadab Khan to Wanindu Hasaranga. Dropped short, pulled through mid-wicket for a brace again.

End of Over : 46 6 Runs 46.5: 232/9

Wahab Riaz to Lahiru Kumara. OUT! LBW! Number 9 goes down. Looked a harsh call to the naked eye but Sri Lanka do not have any review left. A length ball, around middle and off, cutting back in sharply, Kumara jumped to defend but was beaten by pace. The ball skidded back sharply and caught him on the pads, Riaz appealed and the umpire raised his finger. Well... Ball Tracker shows it to be hitting leg. Perhaps Kumara expected a short ball.

45.5 0

Wahab Riaz to Lahiru Kumara. Landed outside off, Kumara gets across and shoulders arms.

45.4 1

Wahab Riaz to Wanindu Hasaranga. Outside off, dabbed to third man for a run.

Wahab Riaz to Wanindu Hasaranga. A full toss, wide outside off, played straight to point.

45.1 1

Wahab Riaz to Lahiru Kumara. Around middle, worked through mid-wicket for a single.

End of Over : 45 14 Runs 46.5: 226/8
44.6 0

Shadab Khan to Wanindu Hasaranga. That is slow, tossed up outside off and then turning away a mile, just like it would, in a play station game. (Ahh...those were the days) WH swings wildly and misses. 14 from the over but a good comeback from Shadab.

44.5 0

Shadab Khan to Wanindu Hasaranga. Shorter in length this time, a pull shot attempted, missed again.
