Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - T20I Commentary
Mahmud talked about Mushfiqur Rahim and yes, that's the guy who has done well to see Bangladesh to the total that they have got. He got to his 2nd T20I fifty en route. Before him, Soumya Sarkar and debutant Zakir Hasan gave the hosts a flying start. That helped them set an early base for the final assault. The skipper Mahmudullah too, had a decent outing. Is what they have got enough for them? The track looks good for more runs. Let's find out how the Sri Lankans fare in just a bit. See you shortly.
Khaled Mahmud is up for a chat with Gautam Bhimani. The team director is very happy with the performance of Bangladesh with the bat. Praises the running between wickets by them as well. Reckons that their thought about Rahim revolved about his right place to bat in this format and they have zeroed in at the first drop spot.
Will Bangladesh be happy with the score? Not sure. When your score at the end of the sixth and the tenth overs reads 71/1 and 100/1 respectively, the end doesn't really paint a glorious picture. Jeevan Mendis put the breaks on the scoring with a couple of strikes in his first over. He ended up being the pick of the bowlers. The others weren't really too impressive. Isuru Udana and Shehan Madushanka, their main seamers, traveled to all parts of the park. In the end, Sri Lanka should be reasonably happy with what they have got as a target.

Feels there will be hardly anything for the seamers as well as for the spinners. Reckons 148 is the average first innings total here but he expects more than that today.
Sri Lanka captain, Dinesh Chandimal says even he wanted to bat first but toss can't be controlled. Adds they have had a good time in Bangladesh and hopes for the same to continue. States they have been practicing really hard and have worked hard for results. Informs Shehan Madushanka makes his debut.
Bangladesh captain, Mahmudullah feels it's a good wicket to bat on and hopes to get a good total on the board. Informs they have a few youngsters playing and four players are making their debuts.
TOSS - Bangladesh win the toss and opt to bat!
With plethora of injuries in both the camps, it would be interesting to see who they choose in the series opener. We welcome you for the first game of the T20I series. Toss and teams will be up in a bit. Stick with us.
Having won the tri-series and then the Test series, Sri Lanka will be brimming with confidence and their next aim will be to fly back home with their hands on the T20I series as well. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have called a few uncapped players for this version of the game due to injuries to their key players. The ever reliant Shakib Al Hasan's absence has hurt them big time while Tamim and Rahim too are doubtful to start today due to niggles.
So, Sri Lanka continue to rise, something which was missing on their part for quite a while. Since the tri-series final, they have been marching in the right direction and on the back of today's performance, they are on the cusp of taking the T20I series as well. Bangladesh had another forgetful outing. Not that they were appalling but Sri Lanka were all over them today despite a good batting show from the hosts. Can they square the series on February 18th in Sylhet? Do join us at 1700 local (1100 GMT) to find out. Until then, Adios! Cheers!
Man of the Match, Kusal Mendis is very happy to get the runs for his side. Thanks the coaching staff for helping him out. Informs he was asked to attack and consume less balls during the chase. The opener spoke in Sinhalese which was translated by Asanka Gurusinha (manager) in English.
Victorious skipper, Dinesh Chandimal starts saying they had no idea that the wicket would be this good to bat on. Admits 194 is a big total and it's tough on any wicket but appreciates his openers who provided them a solid start. Smiles and says it was a good toss to lose. Lauds Shanaka and Perera for finishing it off. Opines they don't want to underestimate Bangladesh and would look to put up a similar show in the next T20I on Sunday.
Bangladesh skipper, Mahmudullah admits they were at least 15-20 runs short which is why they lost the game. Feels his bowlers couldn't execute their lengths and opines on such surfaces, if the length isn't found, you'll always be punished. Adds they had a lot of chat regarding the no. 3 position and finally decided to hand the responsibility to Rahim. Appreciates the keeper for putting his hand up. Overall, he is pretty happy with the efforts from his batters. Calls it a tough day at the office and hopes for a good show in the last game.
After the departure of both the openers, there was a slew of wickets but Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera came to the fore in an emphatic manner and made sure that the required rate never swelled. Their association of 65 from just 30 balls helped them end their 8-match losing streak in this format with 20 balls to spare. The hosts' bowlers apart from Nazmul Islam were really below par. They received a massive beating as all of them were taken to the cleaners. Stick with us for the presentation...
Sri Lanka have beaten Bangladesh black and blue to achieve the highest successful run chase in Bangladesh. After getting swatted all-around the park in the first innings, Sri Lanka's openers, especially Kusal Mendis who was drafted into the side in place of Kusal Perera, did justice to his selection.
