Sri Lanka tour of Australia 2019

In what can be described as an absolute form of foolishness in cricket, Sri Lanka's player Lakshan Sandakan forgot to touch the balls with the stumps while trying to run-out Steve Smith. The incident happened during Australia vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I at The Gabba stadium in Brisbane. 

In the first T20I played at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, Australia rode on powerful performances from David Warner, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell to register a commanding 134 run win over Sri Lanka. Starc in that match had finished with figures of 2/16 from his four overs and helped Australia restrict the visitors to 99/9 in their full quota of 20 overs

David Warner made a sensational comeback to the shortest format in the first clash and plundered his maiden T20I ton. Apart from him, Skipper Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell registered half-centuries and guided the hosts to 233 in the first innings. In reply, Sri Lanka faced a major batting collapse and could only manage 99 runs in the second innings.

Australia will square off against Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I of three-match T20I series. The game will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane on Oct 30, 2019. The previous match was won by the home team by 134 runs where they put up a massive total of 234 runs.

This was the first game David Warner was playing in Australia in over a year. He, along with Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft, were handed a year-ban for his role in the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town, 2013. Incidentally, it was also Warner’s 33rd birthday and after smashing his maiden T20I century, the hard-hitting opener had double reasons to celebrate.

Australia will square off against Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I of the three-matches. The game will be held at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Oct 27, 2019. Sri Lanka will play under the captaincy of Lasith Malinga, while Australia side will be led by Aaron Finch. Australia will be playing their first white ball game after the conclusion of ICC CWC 2019.

Sri Lanka will be high on confidence when they face Australia. The Lankans travelled to Pakistan without many of their first-team stars. But the inexperienced and young team thrashed the hosts 3-0. For Australia, the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka will be the start of six-consecutive Twenty20 International matches.

The 26-year-old recently made himself as a household name after showing great finishing skills in the series against India earlier this year. He was a part of Australia's record ODI run chase in Mohali. The series against Sri Lanka is slated to begin from October 27 and it will be followed by series against Pakistan in November.
