South Africa tour to Sri Lanka for a series across formats. The tour kicks-off with two-match Test series, followed by five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and one-off T20I. The Test series begins from July 12 and will end with second and final Test on July 20. The first of the five ODIs begins on July 29 and ends on August 12. South Africa’s tour of Sri Lanka then comes to an end with the lone T20I fixture on August 14.
Sri Lanka come into the series with a 1-0 defeat against Windies on an away tour. Sri Lanka lost the opening Test against Windies and then drew the final match. South Africa, on the other hand, played against Australia in March-April earlier this year at home. They defeated Australia 3-1 in a series which was later overshadowed by the ball-tampering saga.
Sri Lanka have hosted South Africa for 12 Tests previously. The home side has won four, last three and five ended in draws. In ODIs, these two teams have met 19 times in Sri Lanka. The home side has won 14 while South Africa just four. In game’s shortest format, South Africa have a better record, having won three out of four matches. The home side has energies victorious just once.
