England vs Pakistan Highlights And Cricket Score 5th Match - ODI Commentary
1st Inn
2nd Inn
End of Over : 50.0ENG: 351/9
If momentum is anything in sports, it's currently with Pakistan. They will be delighted with their performance in the last section of the innings and would like to carry that forward into their chase. The touring party has been doing quite a decent job with the bat and a target of 352 against an inconsistent English bowling attack looks pretty much gettable. Should be a riveting chase. Do join us in a short while.
The bowling and fielding were abysmal again from Pakistan. But once their bowlers started to pull things back, we witnessed some excellent death bowling and a few brilliant stops in the field. Shaheen Afridi picked the most number of wickets, i.e. 4 but the standout bowler for Pakistan was Imad Wasim. He snapped 3 wickets by conceding just 53 runs and played a big role in restricting England during that period post the 35th over mark.
Starting from the start, it was yet another usual start from the home team. Their openers wasted no time in attacking the Pakistan bowlers. The way they were going hammer and tongs, the social media was buzzing with a total of 500 for England. But, the English batsmen kept on throwing their wickets after getting starts and due to that the charge needed in the death overs never came. Eventually, it was Tom Curran's cameo with the bat that forced England's total past the 350-run mark.
351/9 is a big score and also reflects on the bowling of a team. But what it doesn't tell is the comeback that the bowling team made. England were going great guns since the beginning and the century stand between Root and Morgan further stamped their dominance. The latter departed in the 30th over, followed by the wicket of the former in the 36th over and that was the point from where the visiting team made a superb comeback. Given the firepower that England have in their batting, conceding less than a hundred in the last 15 overs is a commendable effort from Pakistan.

David Willey walks out now.
44.1W
Shaheen Afridi to Chris Woakes. OUT! Woakes goes now! Shaheen has three now. A fuller length ball on off, Chris looks to smash this one but the bat twists in his hand and the ball goes off the inside half. It lobs towards mid off where Babar Azam takes an easy catch. Hafeez should have really taken that one, it was a regulation catch even though he had to move a little to his right. The ball goes through his hands and for a single down to long on. Pakistan's poor catching in this series continues!

38.40
Imad Wasim to Chris Woakes. Flatter on middle and off, Woakes comes ahead and defends the ball back towards the bowler.
Chris Woakes is the new batsman. He is no mug with the bat, in fact, no one is mug with the bat in this England's deep bating line-up with Adil Rashid slotted to bat at number 11. That's some luxury.
38.3W
Imad Wasim to Moeen Ali. OUT! Three reds and Moeen Ali has to depart. He will take the review along with him as well. He has been caught plumb in front, missing a pretty straightforward off spinner by playing down the wrong line. A flatter off spinner landing outside off and spinning into the southpaw, Moeen looks to push the ball down the ground but misses the line completely. He does not get bat on it and gets rapped in front of the wickets. The appeal comes up and so does the finger after a bit of thinking. Moeen reviews in hope but it does not save him as the replays show us he was a dead duck. Third wicket for Imad, he is being a hero here.
Ali has been adjudged LBW here but he has reviewed. It looked pretty adjacent to the naked eye. Will height be a factor?
38.20
Imad Wasim to Moeen Ali. Fired in wide outside off, Ali looks to reach the ball and drive it but fails to put bat on ball.
Moeen Ali is the new batsman.
38.1W
Imad Wasim to Jos Buttler. OUT! Big wicket! Huge moment in the game! This could be the difference between a 360 and a 400! Shorter one outside off, Buttler looks to cut it but fails to keep the ball down. It flies to the left of point where Abid Ali reaches out and holds on to a sharp catch. This could be Pakistan's big opportunity to come back and limit England to a total that they can realistically chase down with Buttler gone and two relatively new men out in the middle.
End of Over : 385 RunsENG: 272/4
37.61
Mohammad Hasnain to Jos Buttler. On the shorter side once more, Buttler tucks it through square leg for a single. Another decent over for the visitors, just 5 off it.
37.52
Mohammad Hasnain to Jos Buttler. Good running! Short of a length ball on off, Buttler mistimes his pull to the left of deep mid-wicket and comes back for the second run. They complete it with ease, so quick between the wickets these two.
37.40
Mohammad Hasnain to Jos Buttler. The batsman defends it from within the crease.
37.31

End of Over : 3610 RunsENG: 265/4
35.64
Mohammad Hasnain to Jos Buttler. FOUR! That is so deft from Buttler. A back of a length ball on off, Jos waits for the ball to arrive before just opening the face of the bat and angling it really fine to the left of third man. This is just pure skill and class of the man. Also tells you about the form of a person.

Wanted to hit a biggie but just did not get the power on that. The ball goes right down the throat of Asif Ali in the deep there. End of a really entertaining innings from England's maestro. Misses out on a well-deserved 100!
35.21
Mohammad Hasnain to Jos Buttler. In the air... but lands safely! Buttler would have had his heart in his mouth there. A short ball on middle, Jos looks to pull it over deep mid-wicket but the ball goes off the top edge and high towards fine leg. The ball lands in no man's land. A single is taken again.
35.11
Mohammad Hasnain to Joe Root. Short of a length on middle, a controlled pull to deep square leg from Root. Single picked up.
Drinks break. England continue to go great guns here. They have lost three wickets but their run rate is still over 7 and they will be eyeing a score close to 400, if not more. Joe Root is inching closer to his century, while Jos Buttler is taking his time to settle down. We all know if Jos lasts the distance, the final score can be massive. Pakistan have to limit the damage in the final 15 overs to stand any chance of chasing down the total. Mohammad Hasnain to bowl after the mini-break.
End of Over : 355 RunsENG: 255/3
34.60
Imad Wasim to Jos Buttler. Dot again. Too full in length and outside off, Buttler drills his drive this time but once again fails to beat the cover fielder. Wasim does well to concede just 5 in the over after going for a boundary first ball.

Shaheen Afridi to Jos Buttler. Buttler picked that bouncer early and let it through to the keeper.

33.36

The English skipper tries to fetch the delivery from wide outside off and play the pull shot but it takes the top edge and flies in the air. Abid Ali runs across to his left from mid-wicket and completes the catch. A massive breakthrough for Pakistan to break the 117-run stand. TEAM NEWS - For Pakistan, Abid Ali gets a game at last. With Imam-ul-Haq getting injured in the last game, the visitors have decided to rest him. Junaid Khan gets a break as well, with the smiling Shaheen Afridi replacing him. As far as England are concerned, they have four changes, with Morgan getting back in, along with Bairstow, Woakes and Willey. Roy, absent because of tending to his ill daughter, along with Vince, Wood and Archer miss out.
TOSS - Time for the all-important passage of the game. Normally, on flat beds like these, captain winning the toss wins the match because he opts to chase with conditions loaded fully in his team's favour. Eoin Morgan is back after serving his suspension and has won yet another toss. ENGLAND OPT TO BAT. Any surprises?
Pakistan are left with nothing but pride to play for. They have been slaughtered hard by the English batsmen but with a few catches taken and a few moments won, things would have been entirely different. But what is done is done. Pakistan would be hungry for a win now and would love to end the tour with a win hope to go into the World Cup with some sort of confidence. Hello and a warm welcome again, to the 5th and final ODI between England and Pakistan at Headingley, Leeds.
The fifth and final ODI is upon us! Welcome to the 'kill-all-the-bowlers' series. Batsmen keep getting the runs, bowlers struggle for help and eventually the umpires keep sigalling fours and sixes. England have already sealed the series in their favor with an inaccessible lead of 3-0 but would still be going all guns blazing as they will be preparing themselves for the big tournament.
End of Over : 46.5PAK: 297/10
That is it from this game and series then. England have stamped their authority with a 4-0 victory and will aim to replicate this form during the World Cup. Not too many international matches being played over the course of these 10 days with the warm-up games starting on May 24. Looking forward to the big tourney. Take a break, refresh yourselves and be back for the mega event. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
CHRIS WOAKES HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Good choice, given that normally batsmen get that award and Root and Morgan were in the reckoning. But well done Woakes, with a 4-fer and a 5-fer in this series. JASON ROY HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE SERIES, for scoring 277 runs in just 3 outings, which had a century and 2 half centuries.
At last, we got a 5-fer in this series. It was turning out to be monotonously boring with only batsmen getting their runs. But in this game, we got a 4-fer from Afridi and then in the run chase, a 5-fer from Woakes, breaking Pakistan's backbone. Rashid was decent too, for his couple of wickets. It was a better performance from England but their bowling still needs a working over.
It is at that stage when the actual fight began. Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed sized up the deck beautifully and played sensible strokes. Their 146-run stand kept Pakistan in the hunt till Adil Rashid produced a beauty in the field to run Babar out. Post that, Sarfaraz tried to hang around and take his team home but eventually, it was too much for him and he felt 3 runs short of his ton.
Heard of the saying, 'Looks are deceptive?' Perhaps Pakistan were deceived by the look of this pitch. They probably thought it was a belter like the previous ones in this series and could play their shots. But they were wrong. One needed to get set on this pitch and then try to play shots. Before they could even think of the word boundary in their mind, Woakes had reduced them to 6/3 in 3 overs.
For a change, in this game, the bowlers got a chance to come to the party. At first, with Root and Morgan going great guns in the first innings, it seemed like 500 was indeed on the cards. But Root's wicket led to a collapse and England were 'restricted' to 351. At the halfway mark, given the way Pakistan had batted in this series, it looked like they might chase this down.
A perfect warm-up heading into the World Cup for England. Their 11TH SUCCESSIVE UNBEATEN BILATERAL SERIES IN ODIS. Plus in this one, not a game lost.

Chris Woakes to Imad Wasim. OUT! It is bat! Imad goes and takes the review along with him. Not that it would have mattered... Down the leg side, Wasim looked to tuck it fine but missed. Buttler dived to his right and took a good catch. To us, it seemed like there might have been just pad but there also seemed to be a woody sound. Woakes and Buttler were very confident and the umpire raised his finger. Now here is the surprise. Imad took the review but then looked dejected. Ultra Edge detected a spike when the ball passed the bat and also around the thigh pads. The wonderful day for Woakes gets even better. Three wickets with the new ball and now one, in his second spell.

Aiming to guide it towards third man and run, only to see the ball hitting Buttler's leg and stop and then - off go the bails - khadoosh! Landed outside off, Ahmed looks to run it down to third man. Jos Buttler sticks out his right leg and luckily for him, it deflects onto his left boot. Sarfaraz is out of his crease and tries to get back in but by that time, Buttler takes the bails off! It is referred upstairs but replays show that the bat, being plonked, is in the air when the bails are off! Tough luck for Ahmed. He departs 3 short of a ton.

Adil Rashid to Sarfaraz Ahmed. OUT! Adil Rashid has done an MS Dhoni! Not looking at the stumps but still hitting them with precision. A run out against the run of play and that looked the only way England could have broken this 146-run partnership. Coming to the delivery, it's a flighted one on middle, Sarfaraz tries to flick but misses and is hit on the pads. The ball rolls on the leg side and Babar Azam comes out of the crease in search of a run. He is sent back immediately but before that Jos Buttler quickly gets to the ball and fires in the throw at the bowler's end. But it's quite wide. Adil Rashid collects it by stretching to his right, turns, has his back to the stumps but still manages to flick it onto them. They appeal and the umpire goes upstairs. The replays find Azam well short of the crease. Rashid magic here, not with his delivery but at least with his presence of mind.

England vs Pakistan Highlights And Cricket Score 5th Match - ODI Commentary
Hasan Ali to Tom Curran. Another excellent yorker on middle, Curran can only manage to jam it out towards the leg side by bringing his bat down in time. Only a run can be picked up. ENGLAND FINISH WITH 351/9!
Hasan Ali to Tom Curran. Yorker on middle, jammed out by Curran. The ball goes off the inside edge and to the left of the keeper. Curran declines the easy single that was available there. He wants to face the final ball. What can he do?

Picks up another valuable boundary.
Hasan Ali to Tom Curran. SIX! Hammered right back over the bowler's head for a flat six. A length ball, slower in pace, Curran reads it and picks the bones out of that one. The poor sightscreen has to bear the brunt of that shot.

The ball balloons in the air and Fakhar Zaman moves swiftly across to his left from long on to complete the catch safely.

Mohammad Hafeez to Chris Woakes. DROPPED! That was a return catch and it has been put down. A flatter one on off, Woakes pushes the ball back to the right of the bowler. Hafeez should have really taken that one, it was a regulation catch even though he had to move a little to his right. The ball goes through his hands and for a single down to long on. Pakistan's poor catching in this series continues!

Chris Woakes is the new batsman. He is no mug with the bat, in fact, no one is mug with the bat in this England's deep bating line-up with Adil Rashid slotted to bat at number 11. That's some luxury.

Shorter one outside off, Buttler looks to cut it but fails to keep the ball down. It flies to the left of point where Abid Ali reaches out and holds on to a sharp catch. This is just pure skill and class of the man. Also tells you about the form of a person.

Ben Stokes walks in at number 6.
Mohammad Hasnain to Joe Root. OUT! Root holes out! He did not get enough power on that shot. A short ball outside off, Root pulls this over mid-wicket.

The English skipper tries to fetch the delivery from wide outside off and play the pull shot but it takes the top edge and flies in the air. Abid Ali runs across to his left from mid-wicket and completes the catch. A massive breakthrough for Pakistan to break the 117-run stand. With this England batting line-up, isn't ANYTHING possible? Anyways, Bairstow throws it away. And he does not look too disappointed. Because every English batsman is simply looking to enjoy himself and score runs at will. Full on middle, Bairstow looks to go through the line but does not quite connect cleanly. ENGLAND PLAYING XI - Jonny Bairstow (IN FOR JASON ROY), James Vince, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (c) (IN FOR JOE DENLY), Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Tom Curran, Chris Woakes (IN FOR JOFRA ARCHER), David Willey (IN FOR MARK WOOD) and Adil Rashid.
PAKISTAN PLAYING XI - Abid Ali (IN FOR IMAM-UL-HAQ), Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed (c and wk), Mohammad Hafeez, Asif Ali, Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Hasnain and Shaheen Afridi (IN FOR JUNAID KHAN).
Adil Rashid to Mohammad Hasnain. OUT! STUMPED! Game, set and match. More flight from Rashid, Hasnain comes down the track and looks to swipe against the line. He misses but Buttler doesn't. Easy stumping. ENGLAND WIN BY 54 RUNS AND CLEANSWEEP PAKISTAN 4-0!
