Pakistan vs New Zealand Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - ODI Commentary
A lot is at stake here and the Pakistan batters have done their job. Runs on the board and in a pressure game you have to favor the side bowling second, especially with the attack they have. New Zealand batters on the other hand, will have to bat out of their skins on a wicket which is a touch slow. Who will take the series? Join us to find out.
The Kiwi bowlers were not at their very best. They were too straight at the start and later on were a little too short. Sodhi especially, the wicket offered him a lot but he could not find the right line. Trent Boult had a day to forget as he went for a plenty. Had it not been for Lockie Ferguson, who was brilliant, New Zealand might have been chasing something above 300. He was the standout with a fifer.
So a good comeback in the last 10 overs has seen New Zealand restrict Pakistan to below 300 but let me tell you, this target for New Zealand is going to be a very tough one. Pakistan elected to bat after winning the toss and their batters have justified the decision. Three of their batters scored a half ton with Azam being the top scorer as he fell just short of a ton. Also, there were quite a few partnership throughout. The 106-run stand though between Sohail and Azam set the platform. However, they could not capitalize on it due to some exceptional bowling at the death.
Lockie Ferguson to Hasan Ali. OUT! CAUGHT! Could not have asked for a better finish! A wicket on the last ball and Ferguson gets his fifth. It is the short ball which does the trick this time. Ali goes for the pull but gets a top edge towards Worker at deep square leg. He runs in and takes a good catch. Third wicket in the over and only 4 from the last. PAKISTAN FINISH WITH 279!
Lockie Ferguson to Sarfraz Ahmed. Slower bumper now, it is pulled through mid-wicket for a single. Has been a good last over till now, can they end it well?
Lockie Ferguson to Asif Ali. OUT! BOWLED 'EM! This though was not what Pakistan wanted. Ferguson gets his second in the over and his 4th of the game. On the stumps again and on a fuller length. The batsman swings but misses to see the furniture behind get disturbed.
Lockie Ferguson to Hasan Ali. Short again, the pull shot is not connected. A bye is taken. Asif ALi on strike, this is what Pakistan would want.
Lockie Ferguson to Hasan Ali. A short ball and it is the slower one. Ali mistimes his pull towards mid-wicket for a couple.
Hasan Ali walks out to the middle.
Lockie Ferguson to Faheem Ashraf. OUT! TIMBER! You hit, I miss! Full and on off, Ashraf swings and misses to see his stumps get shattered. A wicket to start the last, New Zealand would want to end well here.
Trent Boult to Asif Ali. SIX! Take that! Ideal end to the over for Pakistan. Full and on the pads, Ali flicks it nonchalantly over the square leg fence. The last two balls spoils the whole over. 10 from the last two and 13 from it. Also a wicket.
Trent Boult to Faheem Ashraf. THEY HAVE RUN 5! Well, no matter if you are set or not, you would put such balls away 9 out of 10 times. A full toss on the pads, Ashraf flicks it towards deep square leg. The batsmen run two. Latham then fails to collect the throw and another overthrow results. That is not the end. A poor throw at the other end sees them take two extra runs. All these are bonus runs here.
Faheem Ashraf is the new man in.
Trent Boult to Babar Azam. OUT! Azam departs in the 90s. The pressure of not hitting the boundaries has gotten to him. The slower ball on middle, Azam brings out the heave but only gets height and not the distance. Nicholls at deep mid-wicket, judges it well and takes it. End of another top knock from Azam though. He will be disappointed of not getting a ton but he has surely done the job. However, there are two new batsmen at the crease for Pakistan and New Zealand will be happy about that.
Trent Boult to Asif Ali. Once again Pakistan have to be content with a single as Ali jams this yorker out towards covers.
Trent Boult to Asif Ali. A high full toss outside off, Ali swings but misses it completely. That was probably one loose delivery from the Kiwi bowlers in the last few overs. It still does not go to the fence.

Matt Henry to Shoaib Malik. OUT! In the air... taken! Henry gets Malik on the next ball. He could have so easily been on a hat-trick. A full ball outside off, Malik tries to go over covers. Ends up slicing it over cover-point. Worker in the deep runs to his left and makes no mistake this time.
Matt Henry to Babar Azam. DROPPED! This is so unlike New Zealand. This was a simple chance. Short and on middle, Azam pulls it right off the middle. However, he does not get the desired elevation. Worker at deep mid-wicket, moves to his right, gets two hands to it but drops it. He though shows good awareness as he manages to pull the ball back in before it crosses the ropes. A single taken by the batsmen. This could prove pretty costly as Azam is really striking the ball well here.

Lockie Ferguson to Shoaib Malik. On the shorter side outside off, it is guided past point for a couple. This is turning out to be an expensive over.
Lockie Ferguson to Babar Azam. Short again, Azam may have expected it. He pulls it through mid-wicket and takes a run.
Lockie Ferguson to Babar Azam. How late was that! Waits for the ball to arrive, it is bowled close to the off pole. Azam guides it down to third man for a couple.
Lockie Ferguson to Babar Azam. FOUR! Picked his spot well there! Ferguson goes full and it is on the stumps, Azam knows there is no one in the deep at the mid-wicket region. So all he has to do is go over the fielder at mid-wicket. Does so and bags a boundary.

Shoaib Malik walks out to the middle.
Lockie Ferguson to Haris Sohail. OUT! The 108-run stand has been broken! Ferguson is the man who gets the wicket. Not the best of deliveries though. It is on the pads, Haris flicks it uppishly towards Worker at deep square leg. He runs in and takes a very good catch, inches above the ground. A good innings by Sohail comes to an end. His partnership with Azam has laid an excellent foundation for the batsman to come.
Lockie Ferguson to Haris Sohail. Down the leg side and another wide.

Ish Sodhi to Haris Sohail. DROPPED AND SIX! A half-chance you can say! It is a half-tracker on middle, it is begging to be hit and Sohail does exactly that. He pulls it with power towards deep mid-wicket. Grandhomme there leaps and gets a hand to it but the ball does not stick and goes over the ropes. That also brings up the fifty for Sohail. In a slightly fortunate manner but he won't mind. A good comeback game for him. He has also brought it up at a good pace, he would hope to continue though. It is short and on

Ish Sodhi to Babar Azam. Turn there! However, more than the Pakistan batters, it will be the New Zealand batsmen who will be worried after watching the ball turn that way. TOSS - Pakistan win the toss and will bat.
Hello and welcome to the third and final ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand. Pakistan would be looking to win the series. They made a great comeback in the last match restricting the visitors to a very paltry score in the last match. Their openers did the job and they will be hoping for more of the same tonight. On the other hand, New Zealand will hope their batting clicks tonight. Ross Taylor has been in great form but they would want others to step up especially, Williamson. Pakistan will be missing the absence of Imam-ul-Haq who got retired hurt in the last match while batting. Should be a cracker of a decider. Stay tuned for the toss and team news.
So that is it from this game! 56.5 overs is what we witnessed. A sad end to what was a good series. However, both the sides now turn their attention to the longest format as they head into a three-match Test series. The first one begins on the 16th of November in Abu Dhabi at 1000 local (0600 GMT). Till then, goodbye and take care!
Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, says they have had a good series overall. Admits they were poor in the first game but came back well in the second. He reckons they were favorites to win here. Further adds that they tried a different combination with the batting line-up as they played an extra batsman. States Afridi is a very promising youngster but he still has a lot to learn. Ends by saying New Zealand always look to dig in and take the game till the end.
New Zealand skipper, Tom Latham, says they did not expect it to finish this way but it was an exciting series. Mentions they have done well to not only adapt here but in various parts of the world. Credits the way Ferguson bowled today. Ends by saying, adapting to the surfaces in the longest format will be the biggest challenge.
Man of the Series, Shaheen Afridi, says he is very happy with his achievement. Adds further that he too is trying to learn day-by-day. States he looks to land it in the right areas with the new ball. Ends by saying he will try to do good in the longest format also.
Man of the Match, Lockie Ferguson, says the pitch was a touch slower and he had to adjust. Mentions he is happy with the way they performed with the ball but is disappointing they could not get a whole game. Informs he tried changing things up in the middle and he got success. States pace is his strength but he does look to change the pace, especially on such wickets. Admits the cross-seam deliveries helps on such surfaces. Ends by saying he is trying to improve everyday and he is pleased to be a part of such a good team.
Around 7 overs is what we managed in the second innings. New Zealand lost Munro early to Afridi but then Nicholls and Worker did try and steady the ship. They were going well before the rain arrived. Earlier in the day, a solid batting performance saw Pakistan post a total which was above par. Babar Azam was their star with a 92 but he was well supported by Haris Sohail and Zaman. They looked like they would get a lot more but Ferguson's fifer, kept them under 300. Stay tuned for a while.
Bad news folks! The inevitable has happened, the game has been CALLED OFF. Yes, you read it right, a game being called off due to rain in the UAE. There was a chat between the umpires and the skippers and that was that. Customary handshakes taking place at the moment. The series ends 1-1.
Update - 1000 local (1800 GMT) - The rain did stop for a while but it is back again. The cut off time for a T20 game is 1020 local. Chances of a game look bleak now.
It has started to drizzle here and the umpires have asked the players to walk off. So rain has stopped play in the UAE. Not something which happens a lot here. We though can expect this one to be a short delay.
