Australia vs Pakistan Highlights And Cricket Score 4th Match - ODI Summary
That is it from this game then. 4 games done, 4 games won! The Aussies are surely warming up well leading up to the World Cup. They would love to make this a clean sweep and make it 5-0 come Sunday. The match will be played at the same venue. That game will begin at 1500 local (1100 GMT) on the 31st of March. See you then for the final game. Till then, take care and cheers!
Aaron Finch, the victorious Australian skipper feels that their composure with the ball was really good. He states that his team knew that getting two new batsmen out in the middle would make it difficult for Pakistan. He reserves praise for both of Pakistan's ton-makers. Has special praise reserved now for his own team's all-round star, Glenn Maxwell by saying that he is a superstar and he tonks the ball a fair distance. Mentions that he is really pleased with the way how they have won the 4 games in different ways, let it be chasing the score or defending one.
Imad Wasim, the Pakistan skipper feels that the Aussies bowled beautifully in the end and that they lacked the power-hitting ability towards the end. He praises both the centurions and says they both are special talents. About the bowling talent, he reckons there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bowling attack except that they went for 25-30 runs more in the end. Signs off by saying that it was an honor to lead the national side and it was hard luck that they ended on the losing side.
Glenn Maxwell is the Man of the Match. He says that he was happy that it was important to put a good partnership along with Carey in today's game as they did not get much chances to bat in the previous games. He feels that his role in the team is defined solidly and he has clarity. Informs us that he along with his team knew that breaking the big partnership was the key and that then they could come back into the game.
Coming to the Australian bowling, they always managed to stay in the game despite two good partnerships. They stuck to the plan and when they broke the 144-run stand, they started gnawing their way back into the game. The pick of the bowlers was Nathan Coulter-Nile but take nothing away from the rest who did really well in conditions where the ball was tough to grip due to dew. Thus, in the end, the match ended with a very small margin and it was Australia who finished on the winning side due to holding their nerves better. The presentation ceremony to follow...
The chase began in poor fashion as the first wicket was lost with nothing on the board but Abid Ali who was the other opener played brilliantly in his debut. He got support firstly from Haris Sohail who was slow and steady in a stand of 74. He fell at the wrong time trying to accelerate but Mohammad Rizwan who walked out to replace him looked like a determined man. He along with Abid Ali added 144 runs for the 3rd wicket and ensured Pakistan were in cruise control of the chase. Both of them got to their respective centuries, but both fell at the wrong time and with it being difficult for the new batsmen to come in and whack the ball, the Aussies ensured they won the game by a small margin of 6 runs.
Solemn faces in the stands as well as the Pakistan dressing room but the Australians are mighty pleased and there are high-fives and big smiles going around between the Men in Yellow! Two centuries in the chase but still ending up on the wrong side is surely a tough pill to swallow. Mickey Arthur is bearing a glum look on his face as his team have slipped to the fourth loss in a row but such has been the match that they were practically ruling the game almost till the end and crashed out at the last moment.
Marcus Stoinis to Yasir Shah. A pull from Yasir and a single taken on the last ball. AUSTRALIA WIN THE GAME BY 6 RUNS and take a 4-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series!!!
Marcus Stoinis to Usman Khan. OUT! That is the game! That surely is it! A shorter length slower ball on middle, Usman pulls it away hard but the deep square leg fielder takes a good catch. Handscomb is not dropping those and he makes sure that this game is over with a ball to be bowled unless it is a no ball or wide. Heart break for the hosts but such is the game and Australia were always in the game. Junaid Khan meanwhile, makes his way out to the middle.
Marcus Stoinis to Usman Khan. SIX! This game is not yet dead! What a strike that is by Usman Khan. Deposits this length ball way over long off for a maximum. What a shot! 8 off 2 now!
Marcus Stoinis to Yasir Shah. Driven to long on for a single by Yasir to get Usman on strike.
Marcus Stoinis to Mohammad Rizwan. OUT! Rizwan holes out and that surely is the final nail in the coffin for Pakistan! A fuller length ball on the pads and Mohammad Rizwan times it pretty well but in the air and finds Peter Handscomb at deep square leg. He takes it safely and there are wide glees on the faces of the Aussie fielders now! They will be breathing much easier. End of a good innings by Rizwan but that is still not enough at this stage for his team.
Marcus Stoinis to Mohammad Rizwan. WIDE! That is wild at this moment. Slower one from Marcus way outside leg.
Marcus Stoinis to Yasir Shah. Stoinis starts he last over with a short ball. Yasir Shah slaps it down to long on for a single
Kane Richardson to Mohammad Rizwan. What a ball to finish the over! Absolutely cramps the batsman for room and Rizwan only can hit it back to the bowler. 17 runs needed off 6 balls in the last over.
Kane Richardson to Mohammad Rizwan. FOUR! Rizwan finally finds the middle of the bat. A much-needed boundary for Pakistan. A short length ball on middle, Rizwan hits it hard over the head of the bowler for a boundary.
Kane Richardson to Mohammad Rizwan. This is bad batting! Losing shape at the wrong time is Rizwan. A fuller length ball outside off, Rizwan looks to hit it over cover but fails to put bat on ball.
Kane Richardson to Imad Wasim. OUT! Huge wicket for Australia and Pakistan sink further! A short length ball on top of off stump, Wasim looks to hit it over covers but the ball gets big on him. It flies off the top half and goes to deep point where Shaun Marsh makes no mistake. Good catch under pressure. 21 off 9 is the equation now.
Kane Richardson to Imad Wasim. Slower ball on a length outside off, Wasim looks to cut it over extra cover but fails to put bat on ball as he is beaten by the lack of pace.
Kane Richardson to Mohammad Rizwan. That is the hundred for Rizwan! His 2nd in ODI cricket, his 2nd in this series itself! A fuller ball outside off, driven to deep cover for a single as he gets to the landmark. The job at hand is a bigger one though, he needs to take his team home.
