Delhi Daredevils vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Highlights And Cricket Score 42th Match - T20 Summary

End of Over : 18.5 SRH: 191/1

Hyderabad, with this win, become the first team to book themselves a berth into the playoffs, while in contrast, Delhi crash out. Different fortunes for two good teams. Anyway, we continue on with the action. On the 11th of May, Chennai go on the road and take on Rajasthan in the city of Jaipur. The action begins at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Join in for that. Goodbye!

Shikhar Dhawan is the Man of the Match for this game. It could be argued that Rishabh Pant deserves it, but Dhawan's calm, yet aggressive unbeaten 92 off 50 got his team over the line and into the playoffs.

What was so special about this partnership from Dhawan and Williamson was how they kept rotating the strike. The boundaries came, yes, but the constant rotation disallowed the Delhi bowlers to settle, which put pressure on the fielders and the runs started to flow rather easily with each passing over. A true batting masterclass from a talented batting pair. A mention to young Pant. Wins and losses are important, but sometimes you have to credit a great knock when you see it, no matter who you support. He'll feel hard done, but can take heart from this for sure.

Kane Williamson wanted his team to show why they are at the top of the table. The bowling had been saving the day till now, but tonight, the batting showed up and did they show up! A 9-wicket victory... are any more words needed? Don't let it fool you, the task wasn't nearly as easy as it looked. Rishabh Pant's stupendous ton in the first innings powered Delhi to 187, but Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson finished things all on their own. The early wicket of Hales didn't faze them at all as they mounted a 176-run stand to get their team over the line with more than an over to spare.

18.5 4

Trent Boult to Kane Williamson. FOUR! And there it is! The winning runs come off the skipper's bat. Rightly so, he's been phenomenal again. Around the wicket, full toss on middle and off, Kane Williamson whips this over mid-wicket with supreme elegance and finishing things off with a boundary. HYDERABAD WIN BY 9 WICKETS!

18.4 1

Trent Boult to Shikhar Dhawan. Fuller and angling in, from over the wicket, lofted over square leg. One run taken. Scores are level now.

18.3 4

Trent Boult to Shikhar Dhawan. FOUR! Short ball, Dhawan slaps the pull through mid-wicket, all the way to the boundary line. He moves into the 90s, but there are just two runs left to win.

18.2 1

Trent Boult to Kane Williamson. Full outside off, angling in from around the wicket, Williamson crouches low and opens the face to squeeze it just wide of short third man for a single.

18.1 1

Trent Boult to Shikhar Dhawan. Speared in full from Boult, in line of the stumps, driven through mid on. One run taken.

End of Over : 18 10 Runs 18.5: 180/1
17.6 4

Liam Plunkett to Kane Williamson. FOUR! Too full in length, overpitched really and he is punished. Williamson makes room and drills it through the left of the diving mid off fielder for a boundary. Just 8 to win off 12.

17.5 1

Liam Plunkett to Shikhar Dhawan. Down the ground again, one more run.

17.4 1

Liam Plunkett to Kane Williamson. Oh! That's not a no ball. Surprising, Williamson wonders what's going on. High full toss on the stumps, Kane whacks it down to long on for a single.

17.3 1

Liam Plunkett to Shikhar Dhawan. Comes ahead and pushes it to long off for one.

17.2 2

Liam Plunkett to Shikhar Dhawan. Down the leg side, shorter in length, a controlled pull from Dhawan through backward square leg for a double.

17.1 1

Liam Plunkett to Kane Williamson. Fraction straight in line, flicked in front of square on the leg side for a single.

End of Over : 17 6 Runs 18.5: 170/1
16.6 1

Harshal Patel to Kane Williamson. Full in length and outside off, Williamson lifts it over mid-wicket with the wrists and takes one.

16.5 0

Harshal Patel to Kane Williamson. Knocks this length ball into the covers for nothing.

Summary

The young Delhi Daredevils batsmen, striving hard to keep the team afloat, face a stern test when they face formidable bowling attack of hosts Sunrsiers Hyderabad, in an IPL match on Saturday. Just like previous editions, the Daredevils once again had a stop-start campaign in the ongoing IPL and are standing on the verge of yet another early elimination.

The Delhi outfit is currently placed sixth with just three wins out of nine games and with five more matches remaining this season, the Daredevils cannot afford to slip any further if they wish to make it to the four-team play-offs.

But having suffered a string of losses under Gautam Gambhir who stepped down from captaincy on his own, the Delhi side looked in a much better shape under young Shreyas Iyer's leadership. The Daredevils have a reason to smile after it got back to winning ways, beating fellow laggards Rajasthan Royals in their last game at home ground on Wednesday.

Young Prithvi Shaw, skipper Iyer himself and Rishabh Pant are mainly spearheading the batting unit but the Delhi outfit would also want its foreign recruits Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell to fire and if that happens they would definitely give any bowling side reasons to worry.

But unfortunately that has not been the case this season and with just five matches left, it's high time for Munro and Maxwell to come good to propel Delhi's chances.

Among the bowlers, Trent Boult has been among wickets for Daredevils, claiming 13 scalps so far. He has been been impressive in death overs too. The likes of young Avesh Khan, Liam Plunkett and spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, though, need to do more.

SRH, on the other hand, are sitting pretty at the top with 12 points from eight games. The Sunrisers' journey has been a fairytale one so far this season with their bowling unit turning out to be a revelation by defending low scores. The Hyderabad side boasts of probably the best bowling attack in the ongoing IPL, comprising Siddharth Kaul, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi besides all-rounders Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammed Nabi and Yusuf Pathan.

The bowling attack earned kudos when they successfully prevented rivals from chasing down even low totals in recent matches. In their last game here, SRH bundled out formidable Kings XI Punjab for just 119 in 19.2 overs while defending a target of 132. In another instance, on April 29, while defending a modest target of 152 the Hyderabad bowlers halted Rajasthan Royals' chase at 140 in 20 overs.

The most heartening thing about SRH's bowling show is that the produced the brilliant performances despite missing the services of its star bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the last few matches owing to a back injury. But captain Kane Williamson expects Bhuvneshwar to be fit for the game.

Though the team lost its regular captain David Warner in the wake of the infamous ball tampering row, its new skipper Williamson has stepped up and consistently delivered the goods for the side.

While Williamson emerged as the batting mainstay, SRH would hope its other batsmen, including Manish Pandey, Wriddhiman Saha, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan, also deliver in the remaining games. SRH head coach Tom Moody said having done the tough work, the team is now focussed to finish on a good note.

"Business end of the tournament is where we want to be playing our best cricket. We feel we can still improve in all three departments," Moody said here yesterday.
