Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders Highlights And Cricket Score Qualifier 2 Match - T20 Commentary
Kolkata were right on the money for the most part. But, as the problem Chennai have faced throughout the season, the home team failed to maintain the pressure in the death. Conceded 50 in the last three overs. Though, what will sting them most, Piyush Chawla more than anyone, is the chance he fumbled which gave Rashid a life. The spinners once again came to the party with everyone chipping in, but the work was undone in the final 3. A big task lies ahead of their batsmen now, especially with the wicket on the slower side. Going to be a fabulous run chase.
Dropped on 4, finished on 34, 18 of which came in the final over. Rashid Khan's blazing cameo has helped his side post a serious total on the board. The Hyderabad innings started off solidly, but then stumbled as wickets kept falling and no partnership could be formed. If it wasn't for the Afghan's heroics in the end, things would have looked much different. They will be very happy with what they have now.
Prasidh Krishna to Rashid Khan. SIX! YES, HE CAN! Yes, he can. You beauty! 24 off the final over, just what the doctor ordered for the Orange Army. Fuller and slower on off, Rashid Khan gets deep inside the crease, behind the line and launches it over long on for a maximum. HYDERABAD FINISH ON 174/7!
Prasidh Krishna to Rashid Khan. In the air but it's landed safe. The rub of the green seems to be going Khan's way. Slower one on a fullish length, Rashid lofts it over mid-wicket and it falls in no man's land. Two runs taken. One ball remaining. Can he finish big?
Prasidh Krishna to Rashid Khan. Wide! Pressure telling on the youngster. Fires it outside off, across the tramline.
Prasidh Krishna to Rashid Khan. SIX! Rashid Khan or Rashid Buttler? What are we witnessing here! Right off the meat of the bat. Wow. Full on the stumps, he moves a step across and scoops it over fine leg. Into the stands, well into them, and that's a biggie.
Prasidh Krishna to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Rashid Khan going on strong here. Getting his team to a respectable total as of now. Krishna takes the pace off it, bowls it full on the stumps. Khan clears his front leg and lofts it well over mid off for a boundary.
Prasidh Krishna to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hits this through mid-wicket and brings Rashid Khan back on strike.
Prasidh Krishna to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. FOUR! Bhuvi doing his part now. Perfect start to the over. Length ball outside off, he throws his bat at it and slices it over backward point. Nobody out there in the deep, so it'll run away to the boundary line.
Shivam Mavi to Rashid Khan. SIX! Rashid Khan playing an absolute blinder here. These runs will be mighty handy for Hyderabad. Full outside off, he gets down and very DK-like, powers it over covers for half a dozen. 12 from the over.
Shivam Mavi to Rashid Khan. Slower one from Mavi, cleverly disguised. Rashid waits for it but still fails to connect.
Shivam Mavi to Rashid Khan. Full ball outside off, driven towards mid off for no run.
Shivam Mavi to Rashid Khan. Dropped and SIX! Chawla has taken some good catches this evening, but he's made a howler on this occasion. Rashid lofts this full delivery over covers. Piyush out in the deep first comes in, then he realizes he's misjudged it so goes back but it's too late. Off his fingertips and over the rope for a maximum. The umpire actually checked whether it was a boundary or a maximum, got the confirmation that it was the latter.
Shivam Mavi to Rashid Khan. Outside off, attempts to put bat on ball but fails.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar out next.
Shivam Mavi to Yusuf Pathan. OUT! Hyderabad falling apart here. Probably the last remaining big-hitter is gone. Mavi bowls it full and Pathan looks to clear the cover boundary. No timing on this as he skies it in the same region. Chawla comes running in from the deep and dives to take an excellent catch.
Shivam Mavi comes back on.
Prasidh Krishna to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Streaky runs but they will take it all. Outside off on a length, Rashid Khan gets some bat on it and it goes off the edge past the keeper for a boundary to third man.
Rashid Khan in next.
Prasidh Krishna to Carlos Brathwaite. OUT! Some excellent work from Nitish Rana sees the back of Carlos Brathwaite. Well, the second run was never on to be honest, but it needed that fine effort in the deep to dismiss him. Carlos gets low and squeezes it towards third man where Rana dives to his left to stop it. Gets up quickly and throws it back to Karthik who takes the bails off. Brathwaite's dive doesn't save him. Replays confirm he's well, well short. Massive blow.
Seems Brathwaite is run out. It goes upstairs but the look on his face doesn't inspire confidence at all.
9 from the over so far, how many more can they add?
Prasidh Krishna to Carlos Brathwaite. Wide! Tries to nail the wide yorker, ends up getting it too wide. Across the tramline and the umpire raises his arms sideways.
Prasidh Krishna to Carlos Brathwaite. SIX! Full toss and Brathwaite doesn't fail to put it away. On the stump, the West Indian throws his front leg out of the way and slogs it powerfully deep into the mid-wicket stands.
Prasidh Krishna to Carlos Brathwaite. Excellent from Krishna. Fires in the perfect yorker on off stump, Brathwaite can only keep it at bay.
Prasidh Krishna to Yusuf Pathan. Takes the pace off this one, lands it on a back of a length, Pathan lofts the pull over mid-wicket and jogs to the other end.
Prasidh Krishna to Carlos Brathwaite. Full in length and outside off, Brathwaite drives it through covers and takes one.
Prasidh Krishna comes back on.
Sunil Narine to Yusuf Pathan. Assured leave from Yusuf Pathan. You're most definitely watching the Indian T20 League and not the England-Pakistan Test match. Outside off, it's left alone.
Carlos Brathwaite walks into the middle next. His side needs him to provide a late impetus. Desperately.
Sunil Narine to Deepak Hooda. OUT! Top edge and gone! Not what Hyderabad wanted, especially at this stage. Floated delivery around off, Hooda gets low and brings out the reverse sweep. Off the edge as he doesn't connect properly and it's a dolly for Chawla at backward point.
Sunil Narine to Deepak Hooda. Quite slow through the air, Hooda gets down to play the slog sweep but he's into the shot years early. Takes one on the gloves in the process.

Yusuf Pathan to bat next.
Strategic break.
Kuldeep Yadav to Deepak Hooda. OUT! GONE! This is untimely and a big blow to Hyderabad. Not good at all. Good reflexes from Kuldeep Yadav here though, did well to get down in time. Hooda hammers this back down the track and Shakib takes a step out of his crease. Kuldeep crouches quickly, gets his fingertips on it and the ball then crashes into the stumps behind. Kolkata celebrate, Shakib walks. Amidst this, the umpire wants to make sure and takes it upstairs. Replays confirm Shakib is gone. The Orange Army slips further.
Referral for a run out from the umpire. It's against Shakib Al Hasan and he looks to be in trouble. He's already started walking before the decision has rolled in.

Sunil Narine to Shakib Al Hasan. FOUR! Shot. Much-needed boundary for Hyderabad and they are going to need more of these. Short and wide, Shakib is too good a player to miss out as he goes back and cracks this through point to find the fence.

Sunil Narine returns to the attack.
Kuldeep Yadav to Deepak Hooda. The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. One run added to the total.
Kuldeep Yadav to Deepak Hooda. Hooda charges out and hence, Kuldeep smartly drags the length back. The batsman can only block it out.

Piyush Chawla to Deepak Hooda. Appeal for an lbw, not given. Googly landing outside off, Hooda walks forward and across to work it away but is hit on the pads. The impact seems outside off and hence the appeal is not upheld. They take a leg bye.
Deepak Hooda is the new batsman.
Piyush Chawla to Wriddhiman Saha. OUT! Saha is gone! Chawla gets his first wicket. A tossed up ball on middle, a googly, turning into the batsman who gets forward to flick but it takes the inside edge and clips his thigh pad before going behind. In the process, Saha leaves his crease also and DK is quick to break the stumps. They appeal, the square leg umpire has his finger raised but the Kolkata skipper is not sure whether he has done the stumping properly or not. He wants it to be checked and it's referred upstairs. Replays show - Karthik collects the ball low to his left and then tries to break the stumps. However, the ball is not cleanly in his gloves as he does so. A tight call, the third umpire watches multiple replays and then flashes OUT on the giant screen. At one point in time, it appeared that Karthik was in touch with the ball and the stumps at the same time. A huge cheer from the Eden crowd as Hyderabad lose their third wicket.
Appeal for a stumping, the square leg umpire has his finger raised but Dinesh Karthik is not sure whether he has done it cleanly. Wants it to be checked. Good sportsman spirit shown by him. Let's see what happens...

The replays roll in and they show that it has hit Saha flush on the bat. Kolkata lose their review.
Appeal for an lbw! Not given and Kolkata opt for the DRS.
Strategic break time! After a watchful start, Hyderabad have lost a couple of quick wickets and are in a bit of trouble. Although, in Saha and Shakib, they have a couple of very good batsmen of spin in the middle and they would hope that this pair take their innings forward without any hiccups.
Prasidh Krishna to Shakib Al Hasan. Straighter in line, Shakib tries to defend from the crease but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It deflects in the gap on the off side and they cross. Krishna gets to the ball, has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. They cross for an overthrow also.

His wrong 'un was not getting picked by both the batsmen and one of them has eventually fallen for it. The in-form Williamson is out of here and that's a body blow to Hyderabad. Nicely tossed up delivery, landing full and around off, Williamson strides forward to play at it with a straight bat but the ball curls away to kiss the outside edge. Karthik rushes towards it, calls for it and then goes for the catch. But he has failed to judge the swirling catch properly. Ends up dropping it and the batsmen cross. Lynn was also there in the vicinity but rightly the man with the gloves went for it. He misjudged it though in the end. Usually, you would back DK to take those. Single taken.

Kane Williamson rings the famous bell at the Eden Gardens. Fireworks go off as the match officials walk through the red carpet. The Kolkata players follow them and now it's the turn of the Hyderabad openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shikhar Dhawan to take the centre stage. Shivam Mavi to begin proceedings with the new ball. A slip in place. All set, here we go...
Kane Williamson says runs on the board first up sounds good to him. Mentions the surface looks good and is backing his side to do the job. Wants his team to improve in such a crunch game and backs all the boys. Adds he's told his side to play with freedom and just express themselves despite the situation. Ends saying there are three changes - Wriddhiman Saha, Deepak Hooda and Khaleel Ahmed come in for Manish Pandey, Shreevats Goswami and Sandeep Sharma.
Dinesh Karthik says that they have done well chasing and want to do that again. Adds that they have learnt from the last game where they fought hard, bounced back hard and won the game. Further says that two good teams are playing today and they will look to play good cricket. Informs about their only change, Javon Searles makes way for Shivam Mavi.
Toss - Kane Williamson flips the coin, Dinesh Karthik calls it correctly and KOLKATA WILL FIELD!
Pitch report - Graeme Smith doing the pitch report observes and opines that this is a better surface than the other night. Adds that the conditions are drier than the previous game. Expects the spinners to come to the party even though there's a bit of grass cover. Ends saying it should be a good all-round game.
There is a saying - 'Pressure is a privilege, it's what you do with it that matters!' Believe me, there will be tons of pressure on both teams playing here at the Eden Gardens and let's see which team deals with it the best. Kolkata are on the rise after registering four back-to-back wins while Hyderabad after flying high throughout the league stages have hit a roadblock. On a losing rut at the moment, will the Orange Army deliver when it matters the most? Momentum is with the home team without a doubt but in this format, momentum switches sides faster than a tennis ball at Wimbledon. Hello and welcome everyone to a cracking encounter. Be with us as we bring you all the updates from this crucial Qualifier 2.
Well, we finally have our two finalists. Hyderabad overcame Kolkata in the latter's backyard and made their way to the final to battle it out with Chennai for glory. The epic encounter will take place on Sunday, 27th May, at 1900 local (1330 GMT) at the Wankhede Stadium. Expect a full stadium and a great atmosphere. Join in for the action then. Goodbye!
Man of the Match, Rashid Khan says it was a much-needed performance for him and he just tries to give his best every time. States that the focus was to maintain his concentration and hit the ball as it came. Let's everyone know that he started his career as a batsman, so he isn't totally alien to the big hits. Informs that the plan was to play straight, as the coaches and Mohammad Nabi always advise him to. Reckons that he always tries to improve his fitness and like every time, give his all in the field as well. Ends his interview by sending out a word of support and solidarity to the people back home who are suffering because of the recent bomb blasts.
Kane Williamson says the game could have gone either way in those crunch moments but is glad the boys got the job done. Credits Rashid Khan for his all-round performance with bat, ball and in the field. Continues saying that in such a must-win game, like on most occasions, he always stands up and delivers for the team. Remains humble when his captaincy is applauded and applauds the entire team for the effort it puts in and sticks together as a group. On the three changes, Williamson mentions that despite that, the balance of the team wasn't compromised which was the key. Adds that the players coming in played their part and it's been a collective effort. Wants to perform well again at the Wankhede and get the job done.
Dinesh Karthik says they played a good tournament so obviously feels disappointed to miss out now. States a couple of bad shots at the wrong time from the batsmen, including himself, cost them the game. Reckons there are plenty of positives to take, especially the youngsters coming up and showing what they are capable of.
Rashid Khan not only played a big role with the ball but his cameo with the bat also came in handy. His unbelievable knock helped Hyderabad post a very challenging total which eventually proved to be enough. It won't be wrong to say that the Afghan single-handedly ended Kolkata's dream with an all-round performance. A good run for the home team this season, they peaked superbly towards the end but it wasn't their night as they bow out. Presentation coming up...
Kolkata planned their chase well initially. It was going all hunky-dory for them as their openers looked to score quick runs and provided a solid platform. It was always supposed to be a tough task for them against Hyderabad's spinners, especially Rashid Khan and that turned out to be their undoing. The Afghan started it all with a brilliant piece of fielding to get Nitish Rana run out and then went on to remove Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn and Andre Russell with his smart variations. Shakib Al Hasan also bowled tidily from one end and picked up the prized scalp of Dinesh Karthik. Shubman Gill though showed promise but the asking rate was too much to handle for the youngster and he eventually succumbed. All in all, a clinical performance in the field, well led by Kane Williamson and Hyderabad find themselves in the summit clash.
Hyderabad have set a date with Chennai on Sunday for the Indian T20 League trophy! It wasn't a perfect last over by Carlos Brathwaite but it was enough to defend the runs in the bank. The West Indian once again has emerged hero at his favourite ground by holding his nerve under immense pressure. What a win for the Orange Army! They have not only ended their losing streak but have also booked their place in the final.
Carlos Brathwaite to Kuldeep Yadav. That's it! Kuldeep smacks it to long off. It's not enough, they miss out. HYDERABAD WIN! The Orange Army celebrates as they know they enter the big stage. Fists pumping everywhere, celebratory hugs all around, ecstasy fleeting about.
Carlos Brathwaite to Kuldeep Yadav. Fuller in length outside off, Kuldeep fails to make connection.
Carlos Brathwaite to Kuldeep Yadav. Safe! Brathwaite fires a yorker just outside off, Kuldeep looks to dig it out but hands it back down the track which the bowler catches. Now, an appeal is made and the umpire isn't sure whether it's a bump ball or not. Takes it upstairs and replays show the batsman is safe.
Appeal for a caught and bowled. The umpire takes it upstairs to check whether it's a bump ball or not. Piyush Chawla the man in question.
Prasidh Krishna is the last man in. He won't face the hat-trick ball.
Carlos Brathwaite to Shubman Gill. OUT! Two in two for Carlos Brathwaite and this time he sends Shubman Gill back. Game over it seems for Kolkata. Full on the pads, Gill looks to loft it cleanly over mid-wicket. Lot of height, clearly not enough distance. Down the throat of Rashid Khan once again who settles under it and gobbles it up.
Kuldeep Yadav walks out to bat.
Carlos Brathwaite to Shivam Mavi. OUT! The change in angle does the trick. Brathwaite pitches it up there, Mavi makes a little room and slogs it over mid-wicket. Good connection, but not enough height on it. Picks out Rashid Khan to perfection who's not going to miss that.
Carlos Brathwaite to Shivam Mavi. FOUR! Shivam Mavi with a boundary right off the first ball. 15 needed in 5. Full and wide outside off, he just throws everything at it and gets a thick edge. It goes down to third man and crosses the rope.
Carlos Brathwaite to bowl the final over. He has 18 runs to defend. Difficult task, but with the way Shubman Gill is playing, it just might be possible. Also, an FYI, it was at this same venue where Brathwaite had scored 4 sixes against Ben Stokes in the final over of the 2016 World T20 final. He will be bowling this time around.
Siddarth Kaul to Shubman Gill. SIX! Gill manages to get under this one. Uses the depth of the crease to go back, positions himself well and smokes this full delivery over wide long off. The leaping fielder there couldn't do anything about it.
Siddarth Kaul to Shubman Gill. In the air but it's safe. Gill manages to clear the infield over covers and picks up two runs for doing so.
Siddarth Kaul to Shivam Mavi. Keeps it very full, well outside off, driven square on the off side for a single.
Siddarth Kaul to Shubman Gill. Full on middle and leg, flicked aerially over mid-wicket. There's a man out in the deep, so just a single.
Siddarth Kaul to Shivam Mavi. Chance of a run out. Direct hit and Hyderabad would have said goodbye to Shubman Gill. Kaul though, giving nothing away once more. Spears in a yorker on middle, Mavi digs it out in front of cover and both batsmen take off. Williamson charges in, takes the ball and has a shy at the striker's end, but misses.
Shivam Mavi out to bat. Now, two U-19 boys take center stage. Can the young guns produce something special?
Siddarth Kaul to Piyush Chawla. OUT! Couldn't have made a more perfect start to this vital over. Siddarth Kaul is right on the money with this full ball. Keeps it in line of the stumps. Chawla swings to go big downtown but only gets a thick edge back onto the stumps. He's gone. Hyderabad mildly celebrate, they can feel it but know there's still plenty left to do.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shubman Gill. Dropped and FOUR! Needed that. Really needed that. Gill keeps it alive. Hammers this full delivery straight back. Bhuvneshwar sticks his hands out but it's hit too hard. It goes behind and away to the fence for a boundary. 30 to win off 12 deliveries.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Piyush Chawla. Swinging away, yorker on off, Chawla digs it out in front of point and brings Gill on strike. He has to go for it in this over now.

Siddarth Kaul to Piyush Chawla. Just ahead of a length on leg, Piyush makes room and drives it on the up back down the track. Kaul quickly gets low in his followthrough, sticks his right hand out and takes some pace off it for the man at mid off to cut it off. One run added to the total.
Siddarth Kaul to Piyush Chawla. Dot ball. Short of a length moving away from around off, Chawla tries ramping it over Saha's head but doesn't connect.
Siddarth Kaul to Shubman Gill. Good start. Just a single. Inswinging yorker on middle and leg, Gill flicks it through the vacant spaces in the mid-wicket area for a single.
Kane Williamson hands Siddarth Kaul the ball once more. Important over coming up for both teams.
Strategic break signalled. 43 needed in 24 for Kolkata to win this game and enter the final. 4 overs for Hyderabad to join Chennai themselves. Safe to say, everything rests on this pair of Gill and Chawla, more so on the former. Potentially superb end to the game awaits.

Piyush Chawla strides out to bat.
Rashid Khan to Andre Russell. OUT! What. A. Player. What a player! Oh... brilliant! Needed a wicket, Williamson attacked and Rashid delivered. This is superb. Bowls the googly on a shorter length around off, Russell doesn't pick it up as he goes for the cut. Gets cramped for room, edges it behind to Dhawan at first slip and he takes the catch safely. This is a big step for Hyderabad towards victory. They will be entering the tail now.

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. Is that a dropped chance? Sure looks like it. It is. Coming in with the arm, some drift too and Russell is done in by that. Shubman Gill walks out next.
Shakib Al Hasan to Dinesh Karthik. OUT! Massive, massive wicket for Hyderabad. The in-form and clinical Dinesh Karthik departs. The arm ball which comes in with the angle, Karthik backs away to cut when he shouldn't and gets cramped for room. Gets an inside edge onto the stumps and that's the end of his short stay. This is only the second single digit score for the Kolkata skipper this season, what a time to get it. 67 needed off 48.

Rashid Khan is back on.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Chris Lynn. FOUR! Streaky boundary! The luck is on Lynn's side. That would have gone straight into the fielder's hands on another day. Back of a length delivery outside off, some extra bounce there as Lynn pushes at it tamely. Shakib Al Hasan to Nitish Rana. OUT! Just short of the crease! Rana flicks a full ball in front of square leg and calls for the second run in spite of slipping a bit while turning. Rashid Khan in the deep attacks the ball, picks it up and fires in a flat throw to the keeper. Saha takes the bails off quickly as Rana dives in. They appeal and it's referred upstairs. The replays find Rana just short of the crease. That little slip has cost him his wicket. Should have never gone for the second after that. Rashid although is quite convinced that it has hit Lynn's pads and after getting the confirmation from Saha, he asks his skipper to take the DRS. Kane Williamson signals for it and we go upstairs. The Snicko detects some part of Lynn's gloves which means the Aussie is safe. Also, it will go down as a dropped chance against Saha's name.
Appeal for an lbw by Rashid Khan. Not given. The bowler confirms with the keeper whether that hit the pads, Saha nods and Khan signals his skipper to take the DRS. Kane Williamson obliges and it has been referred upstairs. If it's pad only, the Aussie is in danger.
