SRH beat DD by 7 wickets | Delhi Daredevils vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Highlights And Cricket Score 36th T20 Match
Indian Premier League, 2018
Date: May 05, 2018 Start Time: 20:00 IST | 14:30 GMT | 20:00 LocalVenue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
The young Delhi Daredevils batsmen, striving hard to keep the team afloat, face a stern test when they face formidable bowling attack of hosts Sunrsiers Hyderabad, in an IPL match. Just like previous editions, the Daredevils once again had a stop-start campaign in the ongoing IPL and are standing on the verge of yet another early elimination.
The Delhi outfit is currently placed sixth with just three wins out of nine games and with five more matches remaining this season, the Daredevils cannot afford to slip any further if they wish to make it to the four-team play-offs. But having suffered a string of losses under Gautam Gambhir who stepped down from captaincy on his own, the Delhi side looked in a much better shape under young Shreyas Iyer's leadership.
The Daredevils have a reason to smile after it got back to winning ways, beating fellow laggards Rajasthan Royals in their last game at home ground on Wednesday. Young Prithvi Shaw, skipper Iyer himself and Rishabh Pant are mainly spearheading the batting unit but the Delhi outfit would also want its foreign recruits Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell to fire and if that happens they would definitely give any bowling side reasons to worry. But unfortunately that has not been the case this season and with just five matches left, it's high time for Munro and Maxwell to come good to propel Delhi's chances.
Among the bowlers, Trent Boult has been among wickets for Daredevils, claiming 13 scalps so far. He has been been impressive in death overs too. The likes of young Avesh Khan, Liam Plunkett and spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, though, need to do more.
SRH, on the other hand, are sitting pretty at the top with 12 points from eight games. The Sunrisers' journey has been a fairytale one so far this season with their bowling unit turning out to be a revelation by defending low scores.
The Hyderabad side boasts of probably the best bowling attack in the ongoing IPL, comprising Siddharth Kaul, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Basil Thampi besides all-rounders Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammed Nabi and Yusuf Pathan.
The bowling attack earned kudos when they successfully prevented rivals from chasing down even low totals in recent matches. In their last game here, SRH bundled out formidable Kings XI Punjab for just 119 in 19.2 overs while defending a target of 132. In another instance, on April 29, while defending a modest target of 152 the Hyderabad bowlers halted Rajasthan Royals' chase at 140 in 20 overs.
The most heartening thing about SRH's bowling show is that the produced the brilliant performances despite missing the services of its star bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the last few matches owing to a back injury. But captain Kane Williamson expects Bhuvneshwar to be fir for tomorrow's game.
Though the team lost its regular captain David Warner in the wake of the infamous ball tampering row, its new skipper Williamson has stepped up and consistently delivered the goods for the side.
While Williamson emerged as the batting mainstay, SRH would hope its other batsmen, including Manish Pandey, Wriddhiman Saha, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan, also deliver in the remaining games.
SRH head coach Tom Moody said having done the tough work, the team is now focussed to finish on a good note. "Business end of the tournament is where we want to be playing our best cricket. We feel we can still improve in all three departments," Moody said here yesterday.

Delhi Daredevils vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Highlights And Cricket Score 36th Match - T20 Summary

Do join us for those games. Till then, goodbye and good night. Cheers!
Rashid Khan is the Man of the Match for the third time this season. Once again he was on song tonight and spun the web around the Delhi batsmen. His figures of 4-0-23-2 turned out to be a potential matching-winning one.
Delhi fought well tonight, first with the bat and then in the later stages with the ball. The department that led them down tonight was - FIELDING! The famous saying - 'Catches win matches', fits perfectly to this. It was Glenn Maxwell who dropped Alex Hales on 9 which saw the Englishman adding 36 more while Vijay Shankar handed a life to Yusuf Pathan on a duck and he made the most of it, scoring a match-winning 27 from 12 balls. Hard for all you Delhi fans out there to accept this - if not fully their chances to make it through seemed to have crushed tonight.
Kane Williamson stepped in and looked positive from the word go. He along with Manish Pandey was motoring along well but a few tight overs towards the end, spiced the required rate up. That led to a wicket of the latter and it seemed like the hosts would crumble under pressure. They almost did but Yusuf Pathan, through a reprieve made Delhi pay big time. He played the striker role to his skipper as the duo strung 32 off 16 balls to take their team over the line to extend their winning streak to 4 wins in a row.
Hyderabad have made a statement to all those who feel they aren't good while chasing. They have done it here tonight in a great manner and need to be praised for their effort. Chasing a target of 164, Hales and Dhawan got them off to an electric start in the Powerplay. They added 76 for the opening wicket and that very much set the tone for the chase. Amit Mishra, the experienced campaigner, then removed both of them to somewhat gain the momentum back in Delhi's favor.
Daniel Christian to Kane Williamson. HYDERABAD WIN BY 7 WICKETS! Christian bowls a fullish delivery on the stumps, Williamson whips it away through mid-wicket, the ball rolls in the gap and they take the winning run. Williamson punches the air in delight as he completes the final run. Goes down to the other end and hugs his partner as the Hyderabad duo celebrate their victory!
Daniel Christian to Yusuf Pathan. Is that it? No, Maxwell runs around quickly and keeps it down to a single. Pathan plays a lofted drive to long on and manages to get just the single. Scores level.
Daniel Christian to Yusuf Pathan. FOUR! More runs! And Hyderabad inch closer! Christian is just not getting it right, he has given away 12 off the first three deliveries. Short ball and Pathan sits back as he goes really hard at that one. Gets a top edge over Shankar, who is inside the circle at fine leg. The ball races away to the fence. 2 needed from 3 balls, Hyderabad shouldn't lose it from here.
Daniel Christian to Yusuf Pathan. SIX! High and handsome! Pathan is the man for Hyderabad! Once again he showcases his power, it was a low full toss a tough delivery to put away. He manages to get enough wood on it and clears the long on fence with absolute ease.
Daniel Christian to Yusuf Pathan. Williamson is just in! Pathan slaps it back to the bowler, who gets a hand to it and the ball ricochets towards mid-wicket region. Christian went after the ball and hits the stumps with a flat throw at his end, but Williamson makes it in the nick of time. Technically that's a missed opportunity by Christian!
Trent Boult to Yusuf Pathan. Pacy delivery, a low full toss on the stumps, Pathan powers it to long off for just a single. Boult conceded 14 runs in that over and Christian who might bowl the final over has 14 runs to play with.
Trent Boult to Kane Williamson. On the pads and Williamson whips it away to deep square leg. Maxwell gets to the ball pretty quickly and ensures he contains them to a single.
Trent Boult to Yusuf Pathan. High full toss from Boult on the off stump line, Pathan was looking to heave that one, but he ends up hitting it to long off. They get just the single. 16 needed from 8 balls. Can Williamson clear the boundary and ease off the pressure?
Trent Boult to Yusuf Pathan. Wide! Even the experienced bowler like Boult is feeling the pressure. He bowls it full outside off. Pathan can't reach it. Trent will have to reload.
Trent Boult to Yusuf Pathan. FOUR! Sliced it away! Nothing wrong with the delivery from Boult, Pathan smartly opens the face of the bat at the last moment and carves it between two men square on the offside. The ball speeds away to the boundary. Much-needed for the hosts.
Trent Boult to Yusuf Pathan. Pitching outside leg and the case shuts then and there! Pathan survives to fight another day. A successful review for Hyderabad! Full length ball on the leg stump line, Pathan looks to heave that but misses and it goes off the pads towards the off side. They cross for the leg bye but the bowler is busy appealing. He gets the nod from the umpire but Williamson asks Yusuf to take the DRS. Replays show it was a good call.
Trent Boult to Yusuf Pathan. SIX! BINGO! Pathan delivers the decisive blow! Full pitch delivery right in the slot, Pathan muscles it flat over long on fence for a 83-meter hit.
Liam Plunkett to Yusuf Pathan. Short of a length ball on the stumps, Pathan whips it away to deep mid-wicket for a single. 28 needed from 12 balls, equation getting tighter for Hyderabad. The hosts need one good over.
Liam Plunkett to Kane Williamson. Plunkett executes the yorker to perfection, the batsman jams it away on to the off side. Another single.
