Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders Highlights And Cricket Score 29th Match - T20 Commentary
Well, will this be enough? Will Kohli and co. be able to defend this down? It's hard to say as their bowling has let them down every time. The visitors do have a powerful batting line-up in their ranks and a good start is what they would need to set the tone for the chase. Who's going to come out on top? Join us back shortly to find out...
Amidst this, there was their skipper, Virat Kohli, who stood tall and made sure he doesn't let the momentum slip away. Mandeep Singh was a perfect foil to his skipper as the duo amassed 65 runs to put the innings back on track. However, Mandeep departed towards the end, Kohli's blistering knock powered Bangalore to 175 which in our opinion is a good score, considering the slow nature of the surface. Kolkata bowled well at the start but wilted in the middle overs as they had no answer to the onslaught by Virat. Russell was the best of the lot while Kuldeep, too, was tidy.
A strong finish from Bangalore after being inserted to bat. Their openers - McCullum and de Kock started off cautiously but picked up pace once they got into their groove. They added 67 for the opening wicket before the wicket-keeper departed. That wicket led to a stutter for the hosts as Russell scalped two wickets in an over to dent all the momentum that the home side gathered.
Mitchell Johnson to Virat Kohli. SIX! Excellent end to the innings for Bangalore. Second maximum in the over. 16 from it. This is short and on middle, Kohli gets into position early and pulls it over the deep backward square leg fence for half a dozen. THEY FINISH WITH 175 ON THE BOARD!
Mitchell Johnson to Virat Kohli. DOT! Superb bowling! Length outside off, it was the slower one. Kohli tries to force it through the off side but misses.
Mitchell Johnson to Colin de Grandhomme. BYE! Slower ball on middle, Colin is foxed as he swings early. He gets beaten. Kohli rushes to the other end as he wants strike. Dinesh misses his shy and a run added to the total.
Mitchell Johnson to Colin de Grandhomme. SIX! Colin finally connects one and he clears the rope. A much-needed biggie. This is full and outside off. De Grandhomme hits it over covers and he has hit it well enough to clear the rope in that region.
Mitchell Johnson to Virat Kohli. Full and wide outside off, just what Dinesh wants Johnson to bowl. Kohli drives it square on the off side for a run.
Mitchell Johnson to Virat Kohli. Fuller and on off, Kohli smashes it down the ground. He calls for two immediately and they get two. Good running.

Shivam Mavi to Colin de Grandhomme. Short of a length delivery on middle, Colin pulls it towards deep mid-wicket. Rinku Singh, the sub, does really well to stop two for his side.

Andre Russell to Virat Kohli. That's fifty for Virat Kohli. Third captain in the day who has got to a fifty today. Pulls this length delivery towards deep mid-wicket and scampers through for a brace. His wife in the stands is clapping but Kohli doesn't even celebrate. He just wants to bat as much as possible.
Andre Russell to Virat Kohli. Digs this very full delivery through mid-wicket. Wants two, calls for it and they take it comfortably in the end.
Andre Russell to Mandeep Singh. OUT! Mandeep gets caught in the deep! That's the wicket Kolkata dearly needed as they break the 65-run stand. Slower delivery, angling in on middle, Singh waits back and pulls it nicely. However, he doesn't get the desired distance as Shivam Mavi at deep mid-wicket takes a good catch near the rope. Will this slow things down now for the hosts?

Andre Russell to Virat Kohli. FOUR! Scintillating! Absolutely middled it. A half-volley outside off, it's a juicy one. Kohli leans ahead and drills it off the carpet through extra cover. Not a soul moved there as it blazed away to the fence. But what happened to VK? He seemed to have hurt his right leg after playing that shot.
Andre Russell to Mandeep Singh. Mistimed... Rana gets under it but fluffs the chance. It was a tough one though but a good effort. Russell digs in a short one outside off, Mandeep Singh tries to play the ramp shot but the ball goes off the top portion of the bat. A golden duck for Vohra and Kolkata right on top here.

Manan Vohra comes out to bat.

He adds further this ground is difficult to defend and Chennai batted really well in the last game. Mentions they now are looking forward to this game. Informs they have three changes - AB de Villiers, Pawan Negi and Washington Sundar go out for Tim Southee, Manan Vohra and Murugan Ashwin.
Dinesh Karthik says it looks a dry wicket and they want to make use of it first. Informs they are playing the same team that the had against Delhi. Further adds, he believes in the players he has picked and feels they are the right ones to do the job.
TOSS - Kolkata win the toss and elect to bowl first.
Kolkata, on the other hand, are placed fourth on the points table. They have done well until now in the tournament and should put the last loss against Delhi behind them and bring their A-game. Also, the last time these two sides met, the visitors came out victorious. Will it be 2-0 in the favor of Kolkata or will Kohli's men take revenge? Toss is coming up in a short while...
Game no. 2 of Super Sunday and match no. 29 of this year's Indian T20 League is between the two heavyweights of the tournament, Bangalore and Kolkata at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Both are heading into this game on the back of a defeat and both captains will be eager for a win tonight. Bangalore's bowling has been their major problem and they will have to look into it. Right then! That bring us to the end of another double-header. Earlier in the day, Hyderabad once again managed to defend a total whereas now, Kolkata have gotten the better of Bangalore for the second time this season. Tomorrow we have a single game and it will be Dhoni's Chennai hosting Shreyas Iyer's Delhi in Pune. Do join us at 2000 IST (1430 GMT) for all the action. Until next time, cheers!
Man of the Match has been adjudged to Chris Lynn for his rollicking 62 which had 7 boundaries and a maximum in it. He took full toll of the reprieve he got when he was on 7 and batted through to win it for his side.
Well, Bangalore have just not arrived it seems. They now have lost back-to-back games in their own den and things are going all downhill for them. Virat Kohli is fighting a lone battle but cricket is a team sport and one man cannot win you games every time. It's hard to fathom what has struck them as they are failing again and again, something no team would like.
Next was Uthappa who gave him good support as he came in and started to slaughter from the word go. His quickfire 36 from 21 balls put Kolkata firmly in the driver's seat. After his dismissal, Rana came in but unfortunately was retired hurt. Skipper Dinesh Karthik blazed his way and nearly got the job done. Remember, Lynn got a life when he was on 7 and boy, how well he has made it count. Batted through to take his side across the finish line with an unbeaten 62. Overall, it was a pretty much collective effort from Kolkata which has seen them bag 2 vital points.
If you would look at the scorecard, it would say a last-over finish but mind you, it was a rather comprehensive win for Kolkata. They have come out all guns blazing after that defeat against Delhi in their previous fixture. Chasing a stiff target of 176, both Narine and Lynn provided an electric start. They built a 59-run association for the opening wicket that set the tone for the chase. However, after a mini rain break, the West Indian departed but the Aussie didn't stop.
Umesh Yadav to Shubman Gill. FOUR! Shubman Gill adds the finishing touch! He removes the helmet and lets out a huge roar in delight. Lynn walks across to him and the entire Kolkata dugout is pumped. Back of a length on middle, DK flat-bats it down towards long on. Kohli rushes across to his left, the ball was dying in front of him but he dives forward to snatch it inches above the ground.
Mohammed Siraj to Dinesh Karthik. Wants to finish it off in a cheeky manner. Sees that the third man is inside the ring so tries to play the reverse scoop but fails to connect.

There is a direct hit scored at the striker's end and it's referred upstairs. Replays show Dinesh is well in. So two more added to the total.

Mohammed Siraj to Dinesh Karthik. Direct needed but missed and an overthrow! Length ball around off, Karthik drives it towards point. The batsmen set off for a run. Southee collects the ball and misses his shy at the striker's end. Lynn had given up there and to his fortune the ball missed. There is nobody backing up and they go for a second. There is a chance for a run out at the non-striker's end also as the fielder fires a throw towards the bowler. But he fails to collect. Two in the end.
Mohammed Siraj to Chris Lynn. Excellent yorker outside off, Lynn squeezes it through point for a run.
Mohammed Siraj to Chris Lynn. Slower ball outside off, Lynn lets it be and it is called a wide.
Dinesh Karthik is the new man in.
Mohammed Siraj to Andre Russell. OUT! Russell, the birthday boy goes for a golden duck! HUGE WICKET! The crowd here erupts. The short ball which has always been a problem for him does the trick. It is a well-directed bumper on middle, Russell clears his front let and goes for the pull. The ball takes the top edge and goes towards fine leg.
