Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Highlights And Cricket Score 10th Match - T20 Commentary
Kolkata struggled to get going as their lower order failed to contribute. Hyderabad were brilliant in the field today, bowling superbly and fielding outstandingly. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the best bowler on show while the others also were in top gear. The visitors will be backing themselves to gun down this total easily and register their first win at the Eden Gardens. Do join us in a short while.
A clinical bowling show by Hyderabad has restricted Kolkata to a paltry total. The move to open with Robin Uthappa instead of Sunil Narine didn't work for them but Chris Lynn and Nitish Rana built a good partnership to take the home side forward. The rain break in between however hampered their momentum as their innings fell on its face after that.
Siddarth Kaul to Shivam Mavi. OUT! Another knuckle delivery, another wicket for the visitors! Terrific from Kaul. Mavi swings across the line but gets a top edge instead. It spoons over the keeper and Bhuvi from short fine leg goes for the catch. Billy Stanlake from short third man also wants it but it's the former who takes the catch. Wait... Billy almost dashes into Kumar but luckily no harm is done. They share a smile. HYDERABAD RESTRICT KOLKATA TO 138/8!
Siddarth Kaul to Shivam Mavi. Shortish delivery outside off, at 141.1 kph, Mavi looks to ramp it over the keeper but fails to do so.
Siddarth Kaul to Mitchell Johnson. Length delivery outside off, knocked down to long off for a single.
Siddarth Kaul to Mitchell Johnson. Fuller delivery, angling away at a slower pace, Johnson looks to go big but only connects with thin air.
Siddarth Kaul to Shivam Mavi. The batsman has punched that ball through the off side. They pick up a single.
Siddarth Kaul to Shivam Mavi. Knuckle delivery to begin with, Mavi hammers it over mid on. Dhawan does well in the deep to stop it from racing away. Saves two.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mitchell Johnson. Johnson looks to loft it over cover but slices it down to third man for a couple to end the 19th over. 12 coming off it.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shivam Mavi. Swings it over mid on and gets just one on the Free Hit.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mitchell Johnson. Caught off a Free Hit! Twice in the same over Bhuvi has overstepped! This is very unusual from him. Mitch makes room and looks to loft it down the ground but mistimes it. Williamson at long off takes the catch and is in the mood to celebrate but it is cut short.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Mitchell Johnson. Angles across another knuckle delivery, it leaves the new comer, Johnson swishes and misses.
Mitchell Johnson is in next.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dinesh Karthik. OUT! The knuckle ball does the trick again for Bhuvi! He now has 150 T20 wickets, a spectacular feat indeed! This one moves away a touch, Karthik with all his might throws everything at it. Gets an edge and Saha behind the stumps takes a regulation catch. He was the last hope for his side and now even he has been removed.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dinesh Karthik. Length delivery outside off, Dinesh makes room to dab it away but fails to get any wood.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dinesh Karthik. SIX! Makes the most off the Free Hit! Another slower delivery from Kumar, Karthik dances down the track and clouts it high and over long off for a much-needed maximum. The crowd is right behind, they want their new skipper to hit a few more.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dinesh Karthik. No ball for the front foot! It's a knuckle delivery, Karthik goes hard at it and it goes down towards long off who takes it on the bounce. Free Hit time!
Rashid Khan to Shivam Mavi. NOT OUT! Inside edge! Dear me! This would embarrass Rashid Khan as he was the one who convinced his skipper to take the DRS. Quicker delivery on the stumps, Shivam gets down to play the sweep but gets it off something towards square leg. They run but the bowler is busy appealing. The umpire turns it down and they take it upstairs. Snicko detects an edge. That is it, a review lost!
Review time! Rashid Khan is really confident and convinces his skipper to take the DRS.
Rashid Khan to Dinesh Karthik. Gets down to an extremely full ball and brooms it behind square on the leg side for a single.
Rashid Khan to Dinesh Karthik. FOUR! Used the pace, DK! Flatter and quicker through the air, at 102 kph, Karthik waits and at the last moment opens the face of the bat to get it past the keeper for a much-needed boundary towards third man.
Rashid Khan to Dinesh Karthik. Loopy leg break, turning away from off, Karthik looks to dab it late but is beaten by the away turn.
Rashid Khan to Shivam Mavi. Bowls a googly, it goes down leg, Mavi looks to tuck it away but it seems to have come off the pads. They run and the umpire doesn't signal anything.
Rashid Khan to Dinesh Karthik. Slower through the air outside off, DK reverse sweeps it towards short third man and gets a single.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shivam Mavi. On a length and closer to the off stump line, Mavi plays and misses. Just 2 off the over, death specialist at his best.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Dinesh Karthik. Dabs it wide of the point fielder and picks one.
Shivam Mavi is in next. Another one from the U-19 Indian team. Let's see what he can do.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shubman Gill. OUT! Not a great outing for Gill! Bhuvneshwar Kumar takes the pace off the ball, lands it on a back of a length wider on off. Gill already had made room and goes after it with a flat-bat shot. Mistimes it high in the air towards extra cover where Shakib Al Hasan takes an easy catch at the edge of the circle.

Rashid Khan to Shubman Gill. The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single.

Rashid Khan to Dinesh Karthik. Skids in on middle and leg, Dinesh looks to flick but gets it off the inner half through square leg for one.

Siddarth Kaul is back on.
Time for strategic break!
Billy Stanlake to Shubman Gill. Pace and bounce! Back of a length delivery outside off, rising off the deck, Gill looks to dab it away but is undone by the pace and bounce on it. Fabulous over from Billy comes to an end. His and Shakib's figures are identical, 4-0-21-2. Both are done for the night.

Billy Stanlake to Dinesh Karthik. Stays back and pushes it through cover for one.
Billy Stanlake to Dinesh Karthik. Angles it in on a length on middle, defended back.
Shubman Gill is the new man in.
Billy Stanlake to Andre Russell. OUT! In the air... Manish Pandey, what are you up to mate? He pulled off a stunner earlier and now has taken even better catch to dismiss the dangerous Russell. Kolkata are falling apart now. Stanlake delivers a length delivery outside off, Russell backs away and throws the kitchen sink at it. Slices it high up in the air over backward point and Pandey goes after it from that position. He runs backwards, keeps his eyes on the ball and at the right time throws himself forward to pluck it out with his hands outstretched. Outstanding! Half the side back in the hut for the hosts.
Billy Stanlake to Andre Russell. SIX! But what an effort by Deepak Hooda. A back of a length delivery around off, Russell goes hard at it and slices it over cover-point. Hooda in the deep attempts to catch it near the fence but seeing that he will cross the rope, he releases the ball. The umpire goes upstairs to check it. The replays roll in and finds that Deepak was in touch with the rope while catching. A biggie signalled.

He sends out a flighted delivery on middle, Lynn punches it from the crease, fails to keep it down and Shakib dives full length to his left to catch it inches above the surface. The umpire goes upstairs to check it and the replays find that it has been cleanly pouched by Shakib. Fingers under the ball. A big wicket for Hyderabad.
A caught and bowled decision has been referred upstairs...
Shakib Al Hasan to Dinesh Karthik. Full and fired on leg, worked off the inner half of the bat to short fine leg. Given as a leg bye. So maybe no bat.

Shakib Al Hasan to Chris Lynn. Gets forward to a full ball and drives it to long off for a run.
Dinesh Karthik is in next.
Shakib Al Hasan to Sunil Narine. OUT! Narine runs out of luck this time. Another arm ball by Shakib, more of a seam up delivery as it skids through the surface. Narine attempts for a big shot yet again, that's his role, throws his bat at it and gets a top edge over extra cover. Kane Williamson is in pursuit this time, backtracks and takes an excellent catch. He is a safe fielder.
Shakib Al Hasan to Sunil Narine. FOUR! Throwing his bat at everything. Once again gets it away off the top edge and it flies over backward point. Shakib Al Hasan to Sunil Narine. Not out! An arm ball by Shakib, it skids through after landing around off and Narine gets forward with a big stride to hit it through the line. He fails to put bat on ball and Saha is quick to take the bails off. They appeal, it's referred upstairs and the replays find that Narine is just fine.
Stumping appeal has been referred upstairs...
Shakib Al Hasan to Sunil Narine. Three wides! Shakib uses the control entirely and slips it way down the leg side. Saha has no chance and the batsmen cross for a couple of times.

Siddarth Kaul to Chris Lynn. FOUR! Streaky boundary! Kaul dishes out a fuller length ball on middle, Lynn tries to heave it over the leg side but ends up inside edging it to the fine leg fence. Not for the first time he is lucky in this innings. Closing in on a fifty!

Returning to the delivery, it's on a length around off and Lynn moves back to thwack it over long off. Once again it's high but not long. Williamson from long off and Rashid from long on rush across. The latter attempts for the catch with his left hand but ends up parrying it over the rope.
Siddarth Kaul to Sunil Narine. A mistimed pull shot by Narine, it goes over square leg and falls safely. They take a run.
Siddarth Kaul to Sunil Narine. Edged but safe! A good length ball around middle and leg, Narine moves back to punch it through the line but inside edges it behind. Saha dives to his left but it falls just short of him.
Siddarth Kaul returns in the attack. He went for 14 in his first over and will be looking to fare better this time around.
Strategic break. Hmm... Just two overs after the rain break and they take another one. Rules are rules. It's been a slow beginning by the home team and they lost Rana also to a stunner of a catch. Would be looking to rebuild but with Narine sent in now, we can expect some fireworks.
Shakib Al Hasan to Sunil Narine. Almost another ripper by Manish Pandey! Gosh, he is in the thick of things here. Narine attacks a full ball and tries to clear long on. Gets more elevation than distance and Pandey near the fence jumps to catch the ball. He realizes that his body weight is pushing him beyond the rope and hence he quickly tosses it up in the air. Tries to return and take the catch with a dive but it falls just short. Great attempt nonetheless, saves five runs.

Billy Stanlake to Nitish Rana. OUT! Catch of the match, no, it's the catch of the season! Manish Pandey has taken a ripper! Stanlake delivers a shortish delivery outside off, Rana plays a full-blooded square cut and it goes quickly to Pandey at backward point. He dives full stretch to his right but fails to catch it in the first attempt. However, he keeps his eyes glued to the ball and snaps it before it touches the ground. The umpires get it checked upstairs and it's fine in the replays. Nitish departs.
Manish Pandey has taken a stunner. But the umpires want to check whether it's clean or not.
Billy Stanlake to Nitish Rana. Bouncer to Rana, nicely directed, the batsman ducks at the last moment.
Billy Stanlake to Chris Lynn. Good length ball around off, shaping back in to cramp the batsman, Lyon keeps it out down the surface and Rana calls him through for a brisk single. Good match awareness.

Billy Stanlake to continue...
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Nitish Rana. Pushed to the cover region by the batsman. They pick up a single.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Nitish Rana. FOUR! A cracking beginning. Kumar feeds him with room outside off, Rana attacks it immediately and blazes it through point for a boundary. Takes no time in getting off the mark. He has been in prime form.
Nitish Rana walks in next.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Robin Uthappa. OUT! Bhuvneshwar has struck and provided the early breakthrough, like he always does. A back of a length delivery just outside off, holding its line, Uthappa stands back to push inside the line and seems to have missed it. But the keeper catches it and goes up in a big appeal along with the bowler. The umpire remains unmoved and Williamson opts for the referral. The Ultra Edge shows some spike and that's the end of Robin tonight.
Huge shout for a catch! Not given and Hyderabad take the referral. They are looking quite confident. A look of guilt on Robin Uthappa's face. Snicko will tell us the clear picture.

Williamson backtracks and jumps to attempt for the catch but it brushes his hand and goes to the fence.

Billy Stanlake to Robin Uthappa. Direct hit would have been close. A length ball around middle and leg, Uthappa eases it to square leg and looks for a run. Shakib has a shy at the striker's end but misses.

All set to get underway! The famous bell is rung marking the beginning of this match. Out come the players in the middle. Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn are the openers, no Sunil Narine today. Hyderabad are beginning with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Let's play...
Toss - Hyderabad is lucky with the coin toss and elect to field! Kane Williamson feels it's a good surface while Dinesh Karthik thinks that the pitch won't change much and is not too disappointed with the outcome of the toss. The visitors have made one change, an expected one, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar returns in place of Sandeep Sharma. Kolkata have made three changes, Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi, the U19 stars are making their debuts while Mitchell Johnson is also in the playing XI. Tom Curran, Rinku Singh and Vinay Kumar miss out.
We're done with the first game of the evening and now the action shifts to the beautiful Eden Gardens where Kolkata are ready to face Hyderabad. The visiting team has won both its opening encounters and is off to a flying start this season, although the last match was a little too close for comfort. To get clinical will be on their minds this time around. Kolkata, however, will offer them a stiff competition. They have won one and lost one and would like to return to winning ways in front of their home crowd. Promises to be a cracking evening.
That's all we have for today! Earlier in the day, Delhi chased down a huge total to defeat Mumbai at the Wankhede and then Hyderabad defeated Kolkata at the Eden Gardens. So, both the teams hosting the game lost today. How often do you see that? Something that will keep you thinking. On that note, we take your leave. Do join us on Sunday for another doubleheader. First game is between Bangalore and Rajasthan at 1600 IST and then later Punjab will face Chennai at 2000 IST. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
Man of the Match award has been given to Billy Stanlake. He bent his back and bowled with some venom to not let the hosts off the hook. He ended with mind-blowing figures of 4-0-21-2! Shakib, Bhuvneshwar and Williamson would also have been in contention for the same but the Aussie pacer got the nod.
Things once again got close towards the end as both the set batsmen perished but Hooda and Pathan made sure that they don't repeat the same mistake that they committed against Mumbai in the last game. Both hung in there and safely saw their side cross the finish line with an over to spare.
Kolkata's other spinners then came to the fore. They not only slowed things down but also picked up a couple of wickets in the process to keep the match in the balance. The spin trio (Narine, Kuldeep and Chawla) gave away 60 runs in 12 overs and picked up 4 wickets. However, Williamson kept a cool head and took the matter in his hands. He was happy to milk singles and doubles and then stroked some boundaries to dictate terms. He got an able partner in Shakib as the duo motored along and strung 59 runs together to bring the equation down to run-a-ball.
Hyderabad seal their first ever win at the Eden Gardens. And what would please them even more - it's their third win on the trot this season and surely they have kicked their campaign off in a grand manner. After yet another clinical show from their bowlers, a different sight was witnessed in the run chase. It was Wriddhiman Saha who got them off to a flying start but perished soon after Narine was introduced. The West Indian struck twice inside the Powerplay to stem the run flow.
Andre Russell to Yusuf Pathan. SIX! Yusuf Pathan, the ex-Kolkata player has silenced the Eden Gardens here. Gets a hug and a pat from Russell and the customary handshakes follow. Russell with another short one on middle, Yusuf goes for the pull but gets it off the top edge. Still good enough connection to end the game with a maximum over deep backward square leg. A 5-WICKET VICTORY FOR HYDERABAD!
Andre Russell to Deepak Hooda. Clips one through mid-wicket and takes a single.
Andre Russell to Yusuf Pathan. Pathan jams out a yorker and Hooda is quick to cross for a single.
Andre Russell to Yusuf Pathan. FOUR! Up and over Lynn at extra cover! On a length and outside off, Pathan looks to punch it on the up. Didn't time it well but has enough to clear a leaping Chris Lynn at extra cover. More importantly for his side, it then goes to the fence. Happy faces in the Hyderabad dugout.
Andre Russell to Deepak Hooda. Fuller outside off, driven through cover for a single.
Andre Russell to Deepak Hooda. Short delivery outside off, Hooda tries to pull that one but failed to connect it.
Andre Russell will bowl the penultimate over. The big West Indian has gone for some runs tonight. Can he redeem himself by picking up a wicket here.
Mitchell Johnson to Yusuf Pathan. Short of a length delivery outside off, a flat-bat punch wide of long off will give Yusuf two. 13 required off 12 balls.
Mitchell Johnson to Yusuf Pathan. FOUR! Yusuf Pathan drills one! Releases all the pressure that was applied on the previous few balls. Mitchell goes fuller outside off, Pathan nails the drive through extra cover. Finds the gap and he doesn't even bother running.
Mitchell Johnson to Yusuf Pathan. Wide! Johnson pounds in a short ball on middle and leg and it sails over the head of Pathan. Called as a wide.
Mitchell Johnson to Yusuf Pathan. Back of a length delivery on middle and leg, clipped towards square leg where Russell dives and stops. They are not risking the single here.
Mitchell Johnson to Yusuf Pathan. Yusuf Pathan stays put inside the crease and defends it back down the track.
Yusuf Pathan is in next.
Mitchell Johnson to Kane Williamson. OUT! Straight to Russell! Kane Williamson is gone. Is there a twist in the tale now? This surely must have shaken the Hyderabad dugout. Good length delivery, at 134.1 kph, Williamson walks across and tries to clip it away. All he manages is to hand a simple catch to Russell at square leg. Kolkata hanging in there.
Mitchell Johnson to Deepak Hooda. Good length delivery on middle and leg, worked through square leg for a single.
Mitchell Johnson to bowl now. He has given 22 in the two overs he has bowled so far.
