Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils Highlights And Cricket Score 13th Match - T20 Commentary
Delhi will be a little disappointed with themselves. After the good start Trent Boult gave them, you'd think the rest would follow suit. The problem for them was that they couldn't contain partnerships from being formed, which cost them. Almost everyone chipped in, but the wickets didn't come when they should have. All a little too late, when the damage was more or less done. Now, like last time, with a big target to chase down, the start will be crucial. All eyes will be on how Jason Roy goes about his business. Stay tuned for all the action.
A very good batting performance from the home side, especially after being put into bat. After Narine's early departure, Lynn and Uthappa were moving along steadily and put up a fifty stand. It set the platform for the middle order to take advantage of. A couple of decent partnerships were formed, but the real onslaught started when Rana and Russell joined forces out in the middle. Their 61-run stand came in no time, with Russell going ballistic. Rana stuck it out there, and credit to him, as he stroked himself to a fine half century, thereby seeing Kolkata on the 200-mark.
Rahul Tewatia to Tom Curran. OUT! Third of the over from Tewatia. Good final one from him, just 1 off the over. Curran comes down the track and lofts it straight down Glenn Maxwell's throat at long on. They would have liked more, but it's a total the hosts can live with. KOLKATA FINISH ON 200/9!
Shivam Mavi next in to bat.
Rahul Tewatia to Piyush Chawla. OUT! Short, quick and around off, Chawla comes down the ground, looking to clear Eden Gardens. He instead gets a big top edge which balloons upwards. Pant moves to his left and gobbles it up with ease.
Rahul Tewatia to Piyush Chawla. Landed short on middle and leg, Chawla with a big pull but misses.
Rahul Tewatia to Piyush Chawla. Googly outside off, bit quicker in pace, Chawla with a big swing across the line but misses as the ball goes under his bat.
Piyush Chawla is the next batsman in.
Rahul Tewatia to Shubman Gill. OUT! Tewatia strikes! Full outside off, Gill slices this square of the wicket on the off side. Morris at point moves to his left and takes it nicely. The leggie strikes, bit of a soft dismissal in the end.
Rahul Tewatia to Tom Curran. Tossed up outside off, spinning away, hit down towards long off for a single. 200 is up for Kolkata.
Rahul Tewatia will bowl the final over of the innings.
Chris Morris to Shubman Gill. FOUR LEG BYES! Bad end to the over from Morris. Bowls it around leg, it's a full toss, Gill looks to flick it fine, does so but off the pads. It goes past the diving keeper and away to the boundary line.
Chris Morris to Tom Curran. Curran backs away to this full ball in line of the stumps, drives it straight back down but hits the timber at the other end. It deflects away towards cover and a run is stolen.
Chris Morris to Shubman Gill. Full delivery, tailing in on the pads, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.

Skipper Gambhir moves back, settles himself under the ball and takes a safe catch. A stupendous knock from Nitish Rana comes to an end.

Maxwell at first slip is alert to the situation. He turns around and takes the ball in his safe hands. The umpire, however, just wants to make sure about the height. Replays confirm it's fine and that's the first breakthrough for the away side.

Dinesh Karthik, Kolkata skipper says he is not surprised that he has to bat first after losing the toss. Opines that they are not under pressure of chasing so will look to put up as many runs on the board. States his spinners are doing well but their batters will have to up their game a bit. Ends by saying that they have roped in Tom Curran for Mitchell Johnson.
Gautam Gambhir, Delhi skipper says that the pitch is looking good and it won't change much during the course of the game. On being in a Delhi kit this time he states that he will look to play with the same intent and thanks the Kolkata crowd for whatever he has achieved. Ends by saying that he has made one change to this playing XI, which is Chris Morris in place of Dan Christian.
Pitch Report - Brett Lee doing the pitch report says the grass line is kept a bit longer just before the bowling crease line. Adds the bowlers could get confused because of it and concede front foot no balls. Reckons the wicket looks beautiful and 160 should be a par score. Ends by saying there will be turn and bounce, which will produce a cracker of an evening.
TOSS - Delhi win the toss and opt to field first!
More than the batting though, what would worry Dinesh Karthik and the management is the bowling performance, especially in the death. The looming threat of the dangerous Jason Roy, who hammered a stunning 91 against Mumbai, will definitely play on their minds. So, Mitchell Johnson/Tom Curran's opening spell becomes all the important keeping that in mind. To add to all this, it's going to be an emotional return with Gautam Gambhir coming back to his former home, the place which he spent 7 years and led Kolkata to two Indian T20 League titles. Should be a good contest. The pitch report and the toss will be coming up soon...
Three games apiece and two points each for our two sides to be in action this evening. Match 13 will be vital for both Kolkata and Delhi. A win would certainly boost morale and kickstart things in terms of the entire season. Well, Delhi have got that start, with an important victory over Mumbai at the Wankhede. Kolkata will be wary of the threat, even if they are at home. The batting has under performed a bit, and the tweaking of the batting order hasn't done them much good either. Would be personally surprised if Sunil Narine doesn't open in this game.
Right, then! That's it from this one. Kolkata win and garner important 2 points for themselves. Back to the drawing board for Delhi, plenty to work on for them. Anyway, tomorrow, it's the big one as Mumbai will be hosting Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium. The action will begin at 2000 IST. Join in for that. Till then, take care!
Nitish Rana is adjudged as the Man of the Match. Amidst the pressure, his calm and clever 59 from 35 balls was instrumental in ensuring his side posting a humongous total on the board, which proved more than enough for the opposition team.

Once again the spin trio of Narine, Kuldeep and Chawla rattled the tourists' line-up. They picked seven wickets among them and didn't allow the opposition to make anything happen. They were excellent right from the start of the innings and kept the run rate in control. So, a comfortable win for Kolkata and this will surely help their run-rate.
Delhi never started off the chase in the manner they would have liked. They lost three wickets in three overs and that pegged them back immediately. Pant then joined forces with Maxwell and the duo tried keeping the run chase alive. They did their best but both were caught in the deep trying to up the scoring. Post that, no one got going and saw themselves all out in the 15th over. Interestingly, just two batsmen crossed the double digit figure. That says a lot about their batting.
