Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders Highlights And Cricket Score 44th Match - T20 Commentary
The Punjab bowlers were wayward in this game and now all the responsibility is on their batters to chase down this gigantic total. It won't be all that easy as they are up against a quality bowling attack of Kolkata. Let's see how the chase pans out when we return. Do join us in a short while.
Andrew Tye tried to pull things back after a good 2nd wicket partnership between Uthappa and Narine with a couple of wickets in the 12th over. The Australian pacer was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab but he too went for plenty in his quota of four overs. After Narine departed, Karthik continued to belt Punjab bowlers all-round the park as he scored a fifty too. He was well supported by Russell, Gill and Rana who gave useful contributions.
It was a terrific batting performance from Kolkata, they have posted a mammoth total on the board after they were sent into bat by the hosts. Narine and Lynn played selectively for the first few overs, but once they got going the Punjab bowlers found it tough to contain them. Sunil lost his partner in the final over of the Powerplay but the West Indian carried on and registered a fifty.

Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage for Match 44 of the Indian T20 League. Punjab welcomes Kolkata in Indore. Important game for both the teams. Punjab though are in a better position compared to their counterparts today. Dinesh Karthik and his men will be more desperate for the win and for them it will be important that they capitalize on the weakness of the home team. Middle order's performance has been a major area of concern for Ashwin and he would be hoping that the burden is shared by all the batsmen and allow KL Rahul to play a little more freely. Do stay tuned as we bring you the toss and the other match related updates shortly.
Sunil Narine is adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance. That is all we have from this game but the action isn't finished for the day. Second game of the evening is just about to begin, hop on to the other tab and checkout what's happening in the game between Delhi and Bangalore. See you on the other side!!
With very little support from the other end, the pressure started to mount on KL Rahul. He tried to cut loose but eventually fell to the guile of Sunil Narine. Aaron Finch did scare Kolkata for a while with his big hitting but as soon as he was out, the writing was on the wall. Ravichandran Ashwin and Andrew Tye formed a partnership towards the end but that only delayed the inevitable. Prasidh Krishna also impressed with the ball today and made his presence felt.
Rahul and Gayle provided Punjab with a cracking start as they registered another 50-run opening stand and were on course to chase down this total. Kolkata were desperate for a wicket at that stage and their skipper turned to Russell. The West Indian all-rounder didn't disappoint and ended as the most successful bowler of the evening for the visiting team. He got back-to-back wickets and got his team back on top. Despite all the fall of wickets at the other end, Rahul continued to do well with the bat.
Brave performance by Punjab but they eventually fell short of the target. Kolkata have successfully defended the total and have bagged a couple of important points. They now have 12 points against their name and have leaped over Mumbai in the points table. Their bowlers have got the job done and it was a commendable effort from the visiting team. They batted superbly and then the bowlers did decently to defend the total. It was a complete team performance from Karthik's men. Also, this is the first instance in Indore that a chasing team has lost the match.
