Indian Premier League, 2018
Date: Apr 15, 2018 Start Time: 20:00 IST | 14:30 GMT | 20:00 LocalVenue: Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali
A confident Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will aim to extend their winning momentum when they face Kings XI Punjab in Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the PCA stadium here on Sunday. The southern outfit who have made a comeback in the cash-rich league after serving a two-year suspension, roared in their previous two encounters and once again proved why they are one of the serious contenders for the title.
In their campaign opener against three-time champion Mumbai Indians, Dwayne Bravo and Kedar Jadhav pulled off a thrilling last over win for Chennai. Chasing 166 against Mumbai, Mahendra Singh Dhoni\'s side was once reeling at 75/5 and victory seemed a distant dream for the yellow brigade. However, Bravo\'s scintillating 30-ball 68 put them on the brink of the win and later in the last over Jadhav snatched a win from the jaws of defeat.
In the second match, Chennai was handed a challenging 203-run target by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first home game at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Winning the toss, Dhoni opted to bowl first and opined his side love to chase, a statement which was hence proved right by his boys.
CSK was off to a flying start with Shane Watson (42) and Ambati Rayudu (39) adding 75 runs for the opening wicket. With just everything going CSK\'s way, KKR\'s spinners- Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine striked to bring back their side in the contest.
With Suresh Raina (14) and Dhoni (25) felling cheaply, CSK\'s foriegn buy- Sam Billings took command and smashed 56 off 23 to keep the hosts on hunt. Finally, Ravindra Jadeja\'s six off the final delivery set up an another nail-biting win for CSK. However, Raina will miss Sunday\'s clash after being ruled out of the side\'s next two matches because of a calf injury, which could be a thing of worry for the CSK management.
On the other hand, coming on the back of a disappointing batting performance, hosts Punjab will be looking reverse the performance in this match. For a win at home against the in-form Dhoni\'s side, Punjab\'s batting department needs to fire. Other than Lokesh Rahul, star batsmen Yuvraj Singh, Mayank Agarwal have struggled to get runs.
The team management will have high expectations from Aaron Finch, who missed the opening match against Delhi Daredevils and failed with the bat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Punjab\'s spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman has surprised the batsmen with his deliveries and will once again try to exploit the home conditions. The hosts have a bowling depth with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Mujeeb, Axar Patel and Andrew Tye.
The Ashwin-led side could bring in Manoj Tiwary to the middle order and Mohit Sharma\'s expensive performance could axe him from the playing eleven. Overall, Chennai will once again be the favourites over Punjab, after winning the last three encounters the two sides have met.

Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings Highlights And Cricket Score 12th Match - T20 Summary
Done for today. We witnessed a couple of high scoring games and Rajasthan and Punjab emerged victorious. Kolkata and Delhi will be in action on Monday at 2000 IST. Looking forward to your company then. Cheers!
Chris Gayle is chosen for the Man of the Match award. His scintillating knock shell-shocked Chennai at the beginning as he went hammer and tongs from the word go. A knock studded with 7 fours and 4 sixes was a real treat for the cricket lovers. He is back. The Universe Boss is back.
One should avoid talking about the performance of the bowlers when close to 400 runs are hit in a T20 match. But, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Ravichandran Ashwin deserve a special mention as they were exceptional with the ball when the rest were taking a pasting. The fielding was also up to the mark and altogether a good team performance from the home team to earn a win. Earlier, their batsmen set up the game nicely for them by posting a big total but could have done even better with their finishing, something to improve on.
At one moment, it felt like Punjab will complete an easy win but then, the duo of Dhoni and Jadeja started to counterattack. Their 28-ball 50 stand took the chase deep and after that Dhoni took things under his control. He hammered 28 runs off 9 balls in the 30-run unbeaten partnership with Bravo and nearly stole victory from the jaws of defeat.
Chasing a stiff target, Chennai needed to start big. But that didn't happen. They lost both their openers cheaply and then the hero of the last match, Sam Billings also departed without contributing much. With their back to the wall, MS Dhoni joined Ambati Rayudu in the middle and together the pair tried to bring the chase back on track with a 57-run stand. Although, it didn't come at a rate which was needed.
Phew! Another cracking contest which went right down to the wire. It was vintage stuff from MS Dhoni as the Captain Cool nearly took his team over the line. What entertainment! The crowd here got its money's worth. Great scenes out there. The players are exchanging pleasantries. Punjab will be feeling really lucky that they had just enough on the board. After braving in their last two games, Chennai have fallen short of the target today. Also, yet another team has successfully defended the total which is against the norm this season.
Mohit Sharma to MS Dhoni. SIX! Biggie to finish but it is not enough! Mohit does bowl a legal ball and lands it full on middle. It is right in the zone for Dhoni who deposits it over the sightscreen for a maximum. PUNJAB WIN BY 4 RUNS!
Mohit Sharma to MS Dhoni. No, he can't! Mohit has more or less sealed it, unless he bowls an extra. Another full ball outside off, Dhoni squeezes it through point. There is a fielder in the deep and it goes towards him as he makes a tumbling stop. Dhoni does not run.
Mohit Sharma to MS Dhoni. Dot! This is very full outside off, Dhoni can't squeeze it out and the umpire feels it is inside the tramline. 11 from two. He did hit two sixes off the last two balls to win a game against Punjab a few years back. But then the bowler was Axar Patel. Can MS do it against Mohit Sharma, his ex-teammate?
Mohit Sharma to MS Dhoni. FOUR! This will also do! Top shot from the Captain Marvellous. Very full and wide outside off, not a bad delivery. Dhoni opens the face off the bat and guides it through backward point and the ball races away.
Mohit Sharma to MS Dhoni. WIDE! Pressure getting to Sharma here. He bowls this one wide, very wide and the umpire stretches his arms. 15 from 4.
Mohit Sharma to MS Dhoni. Excellent delivery more importantly a dot! A wide yorker. Dhoni goes after it but misses. 16 in 4.
Mohit Sharma to Dwayne Bravo. Very full and on the pads, Bravo flicks it through square leg and the batsmen cross over for a run. Dhoni on strike, 16 from 5. He has done it in the past, not once but many times. Can he do it again?
Andrew Tye to MS Dhoni. SIX! Make that 17 from the last over! A full toss just what Dhoni wanted at this stage and he sends it sailing over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. 19 from this over. Game on!
Andrew Tye to MS Dhoni. A double now! 23 needed from 7. A low full toss outside off, Dhoni mistimes it towards covers for a couple.
Andrew Tye to MS Dhoni. FOUR! Using his brain here is Dhoni! Sees the ball is short, picks his spot and upper cuts it over the short third man fielder for a boundary. 25 needed from 8.
Andrew Tye to MS Dhoni. SIX! Bang! What a sound that made off the bat! Length ball on off, Dhoni swings hard and he gets it over the mid-wicket fence for a huge one.
Andrew Tye to Ravindra Jadeja. OUT! Jadeja holes out! He had to go for it. Tye bowls a full ball on off, Ravindra tries to go big but only manages to hit it up in the air towards extra cover. The skipper, Ashwin there settles under it and takes it. The cameo from Jadeja comes to an end, 35 from 10 needed.
Andrew Tye to MS Dhoni. Dhoni gets it in his arc. Full and on off, he however hits it towards long on for a run.
