Earlier in the innings, Delhi after opting to bat first lost both the openers in successive deliveries in the 4th over bowled by Shakib while an error in judgement saw their skipper's back few overs later. Patel and Pant then anchored the innings with a steady 55-run partnership. But once Pant lost his partner, he took the onus on himself and clobbered the Hyderabad attack to all corners of the park and helped Delhi post a big total. Hyderabad have a massive target to overhaul and they will have to bat out of their skins to chase down this total. Do stay tuned as we bring you the run chase shortly.
What a knock we just witnessed! Pant simply went berserk in the final phase of the innings and just tore apart the Hyderabad attack. He did the bulk of the scoring for Delhi and registered his maiden ton in the Indian T20 League. The Hyderabad bowlers weren't able to execute their plans well in the final four overs as they conceded 67 runs and just managed to pick the wicket of Maxwell.

Kane Williamson, the Hyderabad skipper, says he wanted to bat first as well. He hopes that his bowlers can make some early inroads and informs he wasn't sure how the wicket would play. He feels they can still improve in all the aspects and expects his team to adapt quickly to the conditions. Feels the Delhi batsmen need to attack in the middle overs which is the phase where Hyderabad have dominated with the ball. Informs the team batting first has won 5 out of 6 games here and states that the average score batting first is 180, but it has been a lot lesser this season. Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage for Match 42 of the Indian T20 League. Team Delhi will be hosting Hyderabad in tonight's encounter. For the hosts, it's a must-win game and they are up against the table-toppers, so they must be wary of the challenge that awaits them. Hyderabad are on a 5-match winning streak which they would look to further extend and qualify for the playoffs. The battle will be between the flamboyant Delhi batters versus Hyderabad's top class bowling attack. Whoever wins this contest will have a great chance of winning this game. Shikhar Dhawan is the Man of the Match for this game. It could be argued that Rishabh Pant deserves it, but Dhawan's calm, yet aggressive unbeaten 92 off 50 got his team over the line and into the playoffs.
What was so special about this partnership from Dhawan and Williamson was how they kept rotating the strike. The boundaries came, yes, but the constant rotation disallowed the Delhi bowlers to settle, which put pressure on the fielders and the runs started to flow rather easily with each passing over. A true batting masterclass from a talented batting pair. A mention to young Pant. Wins and losses are important, but sometimes you have to credit a great knock when you see it, no matter who you support. He'll feel hard done, but can take heart from this for sure.
Kane Williamson wanted his team to show why they are at the top of the table. The bowling had been saving the day till now, but tonight, the batting showed up and did they show up! A 9-wicket victory... are any more words needed? Don't let it fool you, the task wasn't nearly as easy as it looked. Rishabh Pant's stupendous ton in the first innings powered Delhi to 187, but Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson finished things all on their own. The early wicket of Hales didn't faze them at all as they mounted a 176-run stand to get their team over the line with more than an over to spare.
