Delhi Daredevils vs Kolkata Knight Riders Highlights And Cricket Score 26th Match - T20 Commentary
The Maxwell-Iyer association hurt the visitors big time as the pair scored runs at a hemorrhaging rate. Piyush Chawla was the only bowler to have bowled decently as apart from him, everyone was taken for a tour around the park. This is also the second highest total for Delhi in this league and they will now be backing themselves to defend it. Not going to be as easy as it sounds because Kolkata also own a dangerous batting line-up. Do join us in a short while for the chase.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer has powered Delhi to a mountain of a total! He played a scintillating knock on his captaincy debut and led from the front. All this happened after a rollicking start provided by Colin Munro and Prithvi Shaw. The latter, in particular, showed his class as he struck a delightful half century. Kolkata tried to get things under control but failed to strike at regular intervals.
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. SIX! Finishes things off in a grand manner, Iyer. This time the length is on the shorter side, Shreyas camps back and dismisses it over long off for a maximum. 29 runs from the over, Delhi end on a massive 219/4!
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. FOUR! A jab by Shreyas! Gets a full delivery around off and crunches it over mid off. That's once again struck with immense power and the long off fielder stands no chance.
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. Wide! Mavi has lost it completely. Feels the pressure and sprays a full ball way wide outside off.
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. SIX! Smoked away! Iyer is in a different zone at the moment. Mavi digs in a short delivery in line of the stumps, Shreyas gets on top of the bounce and hammer-pulls it over mid-wicket. This is extraordinary batting!
Vijay Shankar is the new man in.
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. OUT! Maxwell is gone! He was too eager to get on strike after Shreyas failed to put bat to ball on this delivery. It was a clever one by Mavi. Too full and wide outside off. The keeper quickly released the ball to the bowler who scored a direct hit to find the Aussie short. The third umpire confirmed the same and the 73-run stand off 32 balls comes to an end.
Appeal for a run out. Taken upstairs...
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. SIX! Change of angle by Mavi but the result is the same! 200 up for Delhi! This one is full and on the pads, Shreyas swings his bat like a hammer and dispatches it over mid-wicket for a maximum. Huge pressure on Shivam now!
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. SIX! A mighty one! That's not the length to bowl at this stage, Mavi. He bowls it full and just around off, Shreyas latches onto it and cracks it over covers for a biggie.
Shivam Mavi to bowl the final over.
Mitchell Johnson to Glenn Maxwell. FOUR! Connects and connects well this time. Full and in the slot, Maxwell stands firm and hammers it straight back down the ground for a rocketing boundary. 11 off the over.
Mitchell Johnson to Glenn Maxwell. One more miss. Maxwell seems a bit too anxious out there. Johnson takes the pace off this one and bowls a cutter on off, Maxwell swings and fails to connect.

Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. SIX! Excellent batting by Shreyas. Plenty of movement inside the crease by him to confuse the bowler. Mavi ends up serving it full and right in the hitting zone for Iyer. He rockets it over extra cover and it sails over the rope.
Shivam Mavi to Shreyas Iyer. DROPPED AND SIX! Uthappa was the fielder! Mavi hurls across a full ball around middle, Shreyas thwacks it over mid on and it flies to the deep. Uthappa moves across to his right to attempt for the catch, jumps a bit to do so but ends up parrying it over the rope. The umpire quickly checks upstairs before signalling for a biggie. Fifty up for Shreyas, what a start to his captaincy stint, also third consecutive one. Oozing form and confidence!

Strategic break. Delhi are going strongly and have a platform set for a big finish. They have Maxwell and Iyer in the middle and would hope that this pair does the job as they don't have much firepower left in the tank in terms of big hitters. Kolkata would try to limit the damage as much as possible.

Regarding their team changes, he informs that Mitchell Johnson returns in place of Tom Curran.
Toss - The brand new captain of Delhi, Shreyas Iyer walks out in the middle along with Dinesh Karthik and the match referee. Up goes the coin, Karthik calls tails and it comes down as tails. KOLKATA OPT TO BOWL!
Welcome, folks. A new day and a new beginning for Delhi under Shreyas Iyer. Their campaign has not kicked off in the manner they would have liked in spite of overhauling their squad and management this season. But this is something they are habituated to over the years. All they now need is stability and consistency going forward as they cannot afford to leave it too late. Kolkata, on the other hand, find themselves somewhere in the middle of the points table after winning 50 percent of their games. Consistency has eluded them too as they come into this contest on the back of a defeat against Punjab. Although, their team looks more balanced and settled as compared to the home team. On form, they will be the favourites but in this format, you never know. Expect a close game.
Delhi get their second win of the season. One which they desperately needed and this could very well get their campaign back on track. Plenty of positives for them to take. On Saturday, we have Chennai hosting Mumbai in their new home in Pune. It will begin at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do join us for that. Cheers!
Shreyas Iyer is announced as the Man of the Match for his stunning 93 off 40 deliveries. He smashed 10 sixes and 3 fours and remained unbeaten 7 short of a century. Had there been a couple of more balls to play, he would have surely got there with the way he was playing.
After putting in a good show with the bat, the home side continued in the same vein with the ball. Trent Boult, Glenn Maxwell and Avesh Khan provided the early breakthroughs and Kolkata were 4 down within the Powerplay itself. It was more or less game over at that point. Yes, Andre Russell and Shubman Gill did try to resurrect the chase and kept some hope alive, but the risk was always big as there was no recognized batsman left after them. The moment the latter got run out, it all went downhill from there and Russell's blistering knock wasn't enough. A clinical performance from Delhi, their third biggest win in the League (in terms of runs), one which they would be proud of.
A much-needed win for Delhi. They finally looked like the team they were meant to going by how they went at the auction. Shreyas Iyer starts his leadership reign on a high. His team completely outclassed the opposition in all departments. The toss was the only thing that went Kolkata's way. After putting Delhi into bat, the hosts got off to a blazing start as Munro and Shaw (who got a fifty) were firing away. It continued on with skipper Iyer playing the knock of his life. His 73-run stand with Maxwell turned the tide in the hosts' favour as they got past the 200-mark for the first time this season.
Trent Boult to Mitchell Johnson. FOUR! Ends the innings with a couple of boundaries, but to no avail in the grand scheme of things. DELHI WIN BY 55 RUNS! A big one for them. Johnson flicks it over the mid-wicket area and finds the fence. Smiles return in the Delhi dugout.

Glenn Maxwell to Kuldeep Yadav. Some comic relief out in the middle provided by Amit Mishra. Yadav gets an inside edge past the leg stump. Mishra from short fine leg chases after it, dives to stop it and half-does it. The ball is stuck under his body, so he gets it out and tosses it to his mate who has come to assist him. Lovely stuff. Two runs taken.
