India vs Ireland Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - T20I Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 IND: 213/4

So, the Indians have set a mountain to surpass for the hosts. The track has no great demons and should be good enough for more runs, provided the batters want them. Can Ireland make a match out of this one? Or is it way beyond their reach? We'll know for sure soon. Don't go anywhere.

The toss was the only thing that went Ireland's way in the first half. They were carted to all parts of The Village then. Peter Chase would, perhaps, be the prized player going around in that part of the world, for having snaffled the Indian skipper twice in two games. Kevin O'Brien's worth as an all-rounder came to the fore yet again. His wily change of pace and mixing of lines and lengths helped him pick up three of the four wickets to fall. But somehow the economy rate wasn't in his control.

Whoosh! We've been treated to another batting feast by the Indians. This is the first time that India have crossed 200 in consecutive T20Is. And all thanks to that 106-run stand between KL Rahul and Suresh Raina for the second wicket. That was after Virat Kohli failed to hit the ground running after choosing to open the innings. Rahul and Raina both enjoyed their ways to their respective fifties, before, sort of, throwing it away in pursuit of some more quick runs. Rohit Sharma's stint in the middle order ended in a blob. But the 15-ball 44 run blitz in the end empowered the tourists. In that, Hardik Pandya had a giant's share - 32 off just 9 balls!

19.6 1

Kevin O'Brien to Hardik Pandya. Good end for Kev! Very full outside off, smashed down to long off for just one. India finish on 213/4!

19.5 4

Kevin O'Brien to Hardik Pandya. FOUR! Length ball on the stumps, Hardik moves away and pulls it down the ground. Such is the contact that long on had no chance even with the dive to his left after running in the same direction.

19.4 6

Kevin O'Brien to Hardik Pandya. SIX! Nonchalant smash! No half measures there! Fuller length, Pandya gets his front foot out of the way and smashes it straight over the bowler's head. Doesn't bother looking at the ball post that.

19.3 6

Kevin O'Brien to Hardik Pandya. SIX! What a piece of wood that is, in Pandya's hands! Very good change of pace, outside off on a length, slower in pace. Hardik's bat slips off his hand as soon as he looked to carve it over covers. But the ball sails high and just clears the fence there. Brings up India's 200.

19.2 1

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. Another full one outside off, Manish looks to smash it. Only ends up getting it off the inner half towards square leg for one. Change of pace, that.

19.1 2

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. Very full outside off, Pandey smashes it all along the ground through covers for a couple.

19.1 wd

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. WIDE! Very wide outside off, left alone.

End of Over : 19 18 Runs IND: 192/4
18.6 2

Peter Chase to Hardik Pandya. Excellent running after the chopper failed to take off! Very full and cramping Pandya for room, he looks to play the helicopter. Only manages to get it off the bottom edge towards mid on. The bowler himself goes after it. But the Indian pair is smart enough to steal a couple, as Chase missed collecting it after a slide. Smart batting. 18 runs off that over.

18.5 6

Peter Chase to Hardik Pandya. SIX! It's time for the Hardik Pandya show! Full ball around off, he gets under it and smites it well over deep mid-wicket fence for a maximum.

18.4 6

Peter Chase to Hardik Pandya. SIX! Meaty strike! The sound pretty much conveyed the result. On a length on the pads, Pandya stands tall and wrists it away. The ball goes off the meat of the blade over the deep square leg fence.

18.4 wd

Peter Chase to Hardik Pandya. WIDE! Short ball down the leg side, left alone by HP.

18.3 1

Peter Chase to Manish Pandey. Short in length, pulled away to deep mid-wicket for one.

18.1 1

Peter Chase to Manish Pandey. Bat breaker! Very full on middle and leg, Pandey squeezes it out. The ball takes the inner half, along with a piece of wood and rolls towards mid-wicket. A single is quickly stolen. Another bat, please!

Peter Chase to bowl the penultimate over.

End of Over : 18 7 Runs IND: 174/4
17.6 0

Kevin O'Brien to Hardik Pandya. Outside off, hit straight to covers. Another successful over from KOB.

17.5 1

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. Outside off on a length, cut away through point for one. The man at point did well to get some hand to that one, else it could well have gone to the fence.

17.4 4

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. FOUR! Length ball outside off, Pandey finally makes some decent contact. Gets it through covers and the fielder in the deep is beaten, even after the dive.

Hardik Pandya is the next batter.

17.3 W

Kevin O'Brien to Suresh Raina. OUT! Kevin O'Brien continues improving his numbers! He had just brought the cover fielder in the circle and pushed mid-wicket to the deep. He then bangs it short. Raina decides to take him on and plays the pull. Finds Dockrell to perfection in the deep on the mid-wicket fence. With this wicket, O'Brien becomes the joint-highest wicket-taker for Ireland in T20Is.

17.2 1

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. On a length around middle, Pandey makes room. But all he can do is mistime his pull down to long on for one. He's not timing it well. Shows in his stint of 11 from 14 balls.

17.1 1

Kevin O'Brien to Suresh Raina. Very full on off, hit down to long off for one.

16.2 2

Paul Stirling to Manish Pandey. Fired on the stumps, smashed through mid-wicket for a couple.

16.1 3

Paul Stirling to Suresh Raina. Comedy of errors! Raina lofts it inside out over covers. Porterfield gets to his right from long off, dives and parries it to Shannon getting to his left from deep mid-wicket. But he fails to collect the ball and has to prevent it from going to the fence. Does so and saves a run for his side.

16.1 wd

Paul Stirling to Suresh Raina. WIDE! Pressure! Stirling wants to be well away from the line of attack and hence fires it well outside off. Left alone, wided.

Paul Stirling to have another go.

End of Over : 16 13 Runs IND: 157/3
15.6 1

Peter Chase to Suresh Raina. Heaved away to deep mid-wicket for one more. Last four overs to go, will India cross the 200-run mark?

15.5 4

Peter Chase to Suresh Raina. FOUR! Carried or not? Perhaps not. On a length around middle and leg, Raina heaves it away to the on side. Dockrell, stationed at the deep mid-wicket fence, runs forward and dives. But the ball seems to have just bounced in front of him. Post that, it trickles away to the fence.

15.4 1

Peter Chase to Manish Pandey. This is pushed down to long on for one. That's Pandey's 500th T20I run.

15.3 1

Peter Chase to Suresh Raina. This one is flicked away to fine leg for one.

15.2 6

Peter Chase to Suresh Raina. SIX! This time Raina doesn't miss! It's the off-cutter on a length around off, Suresh stays deep in the crease and attempts the heave. Connects and makes a decent contact. Enough to take the ball sailing over deep mid-wicket.

15.1 0

Peter Chase to Suresh Raina. Back of a length ball from over the wicket, Raina misses his attempted heave.

Peter Chase is back on.

End of Over : 15 9 Runs IND: 144/3
14.6 1

Kevin O'Brien to Suresh Raina. Full on middle and leg, driven down to long on for one.

14.5 4

Kevin O'Brien to Suresh Raina. FOUR! 5th T20I fifty for Raina, this one has come after 9 innings! This is full on the pads, Raina just tickles it fine down the leg side to get to his milestone. Raises his bat post that. He's looking good for more.

14.5 wd

Kevin O'Brien to Suresh Raina. WIDE but SAFE! Very wide outside off, Raina tries to reach out and hit it over covers. Misses and Wilson whips the bails off and asks the question. The TV umpire is involved. The first replay is enough to show that the batter has some part of his foot behind the line.

Huge appeal for a stumping! Raina is the batter in question.

14.4 1

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. This ball is driven to long on for one.

14.3 0

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.

14.2 1

Kevin O'Brien to Suresh Raina. Close shave! Short length ball in line of the stumps, Raina clobbers the pull right back. Kevin directs the ball towards the stumps at his end but just misses hitting the bull's eye. Pandey, who was backing up, dives back in desperation. A single is eventually taken as the ball goes down to long off. That could have been the end of Manish's stint had the ball hit.

14.1 1

Kevin O'Brien to Manish Pandey. Very full outside off, Pandey heaves it past mid-wicket for one.

End of Over : 14 4 Runs IND: 135/3

13.5 1

George Dockrell to Suresh Raina. Almost, almost deceived with the flight. Raina comes down the track a tad early and Dockrell sees it. He serves a wide half tracker but Raina is up to it as he dabs it to long on. One run is taken.

George Dockrell to Manish Pandey. Tossed up in the line of the stumps, Pandey punches it off the back foot down the ground for a single.

Manish Pandey is the next man in for India.

12.3 W

Kevin O'Brien to Rohit Sharma. OUT! Two in three balls for Kevin O'Brien, the man with the golden arm for Ireland. This is bowled very full outside off, Rohit looks to drive it away from his body. The ball takes the outer half of his blade and goes straight to Stirling at backward point. He makes no mistake and Kevin is up and running. This is Rohit's sixth duck in T20Is. Can Ireland strangle the Indians from here?

12.2 0

Kevin O'Brien to Rohit Sharma. On a length around off, defended off the back foot.

Rohit Sharma walks in at number 4 for India.

12.1 W

Kevin O'Brien to Lokesh Rahul. OUT! Oh yes, it does! What a dolly! Lottery for Ireland! O'Brien lands it on a length around off, Rahul looks to punch it down the ground off the back foot. But all he manages to do is chip it back to the bowler. Kevin accepts the offering and has his hands aloft in triumph. The ball stopped on the batter on this occasion, perhaps landing on one of the naughty areas that Kartik reported while analyzing the pitch earlier. As a result, the batter checked his shot. So, no ton for Rahul today.

Kevin O'Brien is brought into the attack. Will the change in pace help Ireland? The keeper is up to the stumps.

End of Over : 12 11 Runs IND: 128/1

A beautiful way to bring up the 100-run partnership with Raina.

We are all set for the action. The players are making their way out to the middle. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are all set to face the music. For Ireland, Simi Singh will take the new ball. Let's get on with it then.

It's time for the national anthems of both the teams. It'll be visitors' first followed by the hosts'.

James Shannon is up for a pre-game chat. He is elated to have scored a half century in the first game. States that he got lucky and hence scored the runs that he did then, rather than taking a liking to a particular type of bowler. Reckons that before the tour, he was backed by the coaching staff to open the batting. Says that things can only get better from this position for him and his side. Ends having positive things to say about William Porterfield and asserts that he is very open to approach and for getting tips.

Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, starts by saying that he would have batted first as his team is looking to get the best out of the pitch and utilize the green tinge on it. Adds that he would like his team to repeat the performance from the last game as it was very clinical from the boys. Ends by saying that there are four changes to the playing XI. KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Siddarth Kaul and Umesh Yadav come in for MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

Gary Wilson, the Irish skipper, says that the green wicket has influenced his decision. Concedes that they lost the game to the Indian spinners and hence, would try to do better in that aspect. States that William Porterfield is in for Stuart Poynter and that he himself will keep wickets.

Toss - Heads was the call from Kohli, it lands the other way. As a result, Ireland win the toss and Wilson opts to bowl.

Pitch Report - Murali Kartik is reporting about the pitch. He looks at it and says that it has an even covering of grass on it. Adds that there's a lot of wind blowing across the stadium, which should help the bowlers. Concludes that the team which wins the toss should look to bat first.

However, Gary Wilsons side has the capacity to overcome the challenges and give it back to the visitors, who will be testing out their bench strength as per their skipper, Virat Kohli. The word is that Siddarth Kaul has received his maiden T20I cap from MS Dhoni. Its a buffet of delicacies for the cricket lovers. Irish stew and Indian curry are in the menu. Live action starts soon, hang around!

Filte! An Irish welcome to you all to the second and last T20I between Ireland and India at Malahide, Dublin. Its nice and sunny in the capital city of Ireland, where the home side is looking to topple the second-ranked team in T20Is. Neither of the teams had a perfect outing in the previous encounter. The Men in Blue had few issues with their fielding whereas the hosts were under par in all the departments perhaps.

End of Over : 12.3 IRE: 70/10

That is is for the day from our side. A lot of cricket to look forward to in the upcoming few weeks. Keep checking this space for all the action. Till then, Ciao!

India have begun their tour of U.K positively. After the first T20I, they tried out their bench strength. A team without the mainstays in the playing XI and yet it was too much for the Irish team, which must have given some happy headaches to the management. Most of the players look in a great touch, well prepared for the tough tour of England. Just one thing which is missing is perhaps the time Virat Kohli hasn't spent out in the middle. He would like to get few balls out of the middle of the bat and get going for the clash against the in-form English team.

Virat Kohli, the winning skipper, says that this is the right kind of momentum his side would have wanted before facing England. Talks about having a headache about picking the playing XI. Adds that it is a great positive for his team and wants more of these. About England as an opponent, he states that their own strengths are important than the opponents. Opines that if they play at their best, it should be a very competing series. Reckons that the system for training is a well laid one, as a result nobody takes anything for granted. As a result, he adds, the preparation and the efforts from the players are not at all reduced. Adds further that the players taking responsibility bodes well as it reduces the burden on him and the management.

Gary Wilson, the losing captain, states that the fact that they didn't put up a fight with the bat is disappointing. Adds that the end overs with the ball also cost them. Says that it wouldn't have mattered much had they batted first. About the lessons to be learnt, he reckons that the experience of the Indian T20 League has helped India and more application on their own part would be the right way forward.

Man of the Series is Yuzvendra Chahal for his two 3-fers in consecutive games. He says that the wicket was turning so he varied his pace and bowled accordingly. Further adds that whenever he saw the batsman looking to hit, he tossed up even more and let the pitch do the work. Ends by saying that he has practised hard before the series, he had chosen the balls he is going to ball to the different batsman and it has worked well for him.

KL Rahul is the Man of the Match for his 70 off 36. He says that it is important for him to make use of the opportunities that he gets. Adds that he looked to extend his good form from the Indian T20 League. States that he was looking to stand deep in the crease and use the pace that he gets to score the runs. Reckons that he is determined to get runs every single time he is left out of the team. Adds that his focus is on playing well and being fit always. Talks about this being his first tour to the UK, hence would look forward to doing well every single time. Adds that the challenges are whole-heartedly accepted by him.

Earlier in the day, the hosts were rocked back by KL Rahul and Suresh Raina as they put up a 106-run stand. They took a liking to most of the bowlers and only Kevin O'Brien could manage to put some life in their bowling. However, at the fag end of India's innings, Hardik Pandya brutalized the medium pacer and took the score past 200, the second time in two games. The presentation follows...

What a comprehensive victory for Team India. They have swept away Ireland and won the game on a canter by 143 runs. The misery was started by Umesh Yadav and was cleaned up by the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Both of them took three wickets each while the pacer took two. Ireland never got off in this run-chase as they lost their first on the very second ball of the innings. Only four of their batsmen crossed the double-digit mark and only eight boundaries were scored, which should explain the things pretty well.

The ball goes behind the keeper and the fielder from third man goes after it. Umesh puts in a dive to stop it and parries it to Raina, the slip fielder, throws it back. Team work from Team India.

Kuldeep loops it over the eye level of the batsman, lands it outside off and makes it spin in from there. Gary looks to play it on the off side but the ball comes in sharply and rattles into the leg stump. Ireland are reeling at 44/7 and it doesn't look too bright for them now.

8.1 4

7.5 1

Yuzvendra Chahal to Stuart Thompson. Works this one off the back foot to the on side. One run taken.

Well, well... The Snicko for 7.1 is just shown. It returns a spike as the ball passes the blade. Simi Singh was the beneficiary on that occasion. Can't really call him lucky, as he departed the very next ball.

3.5 0

Siddarth Kaul to Gary Wilson. Outside off on a length, cut away to point.

Ireland's skipper Gary Wilson is the next man in.

3.4 W

Siddarth Kaul to James Shannon. OUT! That is Siddarth Kaul's maiden T20I wicket. A front foot no ball doesn't deny him that. He bangs it short outside off, Shannon decides to take it on with a pull. But he skies it off the top edge. It goes up and lands in the safe hands of Rahul at covers. However, the front foot needs to be checked and hence it is taken upstairs. Replays find it to be very close, yet it is ruled in favour of the bowler. The reason being, there wasn't anything to prove that he had overstepped completely. Close margins in sport. Meanwhile, James had already walked out. The on-air commentators inform us that the ICC rules have been tweaked to recall the batters in such a scenario. No need for its application today.

Is that the maiden T20I wicket for Kaul? Shannon could be the victim. But the bowler's front foot is checked for. Looks to be very, very tight...

Ho, ho, ho! Popularity of the Indian cricketers makes an intruder, well, a fan, run on the ground towards Kohli at mid on. Not good for the sport though.

3.3 0

Siddarth Kaul to James Shannon. This one is played towards mid-wicket for nothing.

3.2 0

Siddarth Kaul to James Shannon. Again. Shannon comes down the track to generate pace, anticipating the slower one. He is beaten all ends up but.

End of Over : 3 18 Runs IRE: 22/2
2.6 4

2.5 2

Umesh Yadav to Andy Balbirnie. On the pads, nudged fine down the leg side for a brace.

At 4, Andy Balbirnie is the batsman for Ireland.

2.4 W

Umesh Yadav to William Porterfield. OUT! Castled! Umesh has the last laugh! The man bun is on a spree here! This is speared full on middle and leg, Porterfield moves inside the line to play the scoop. He misses the ball completely and the next thing, he finds the woodwork shattered. Not the start Ireland would have wanted, with the experienced campaigner back in the side. They need another 198 to get.

2.3 6

Umesh Yadav to William Porterfield. SIX! First maximum in the run chase! Length ball outside off, Porterfield clears his front leg as well as the deep mid-wicket fence with his heave. It was the slower one. Massive strike that.

2.1 4

Umesh Yadav to William Porterfield. FOUR! A misdirected short ball, Yadav pays the price! Banged short down the leg side, Porterfield camps back and gloves the pull. Gets it to the fine leg fence.

End of Over : 2 3 Runs IRE: 4/1

0.2 W

Umesh Yadav to Paul Stirling. OUT! Umesh and his bun are up and running in Malahide! Ireland one down for none. It is a length ball outside off, Stirling looks to stand tall and punch it. The ball moves a wee bit and takes the outside edge. It travels to first slip where Suresh Raina takes it with his fingers pointing skywards. Sets off to celebrate with his mates.

0.1 0

Umesh Yadav to Paul Stirling. Umesh begins with a length ball outside off, it moves away a touch. Stirling stands back and slaps it to covers.

The break wasn't a long one! We're back with the chase. Ireland have to score 214 off the 120 legal deliveries allotted. The Indians are in a huddle, planning their defense. The Irish openers, Paul Stirling and James Shannon are out in the middle. Umesh Yadav, sporting the bun that he made famous in the Indian T20 League, will make the use of the new ball first up. He had the most wickets in the Powerplay of that tourney, can he begin that way here?
