India tour of Ireland 2018

From Jun 27, 2018 to Jun 29, 2018
Summary

Ahead of India’s tour of England, the Indian cricket team will land in Ireland for two-match T20 International series. The two T20I matches will be played on June 27 and June 29. The series will help India prepare for a bigger challenge against England. India will take on England in three T20Is and as many One-day Internationals (ODIs) followed by five Test matches. Meanwhile, Indian cricket team’s current focus will be the T20Is against Ireland.

This will be the first bilateral T20I series between India and Ireland. The two sides have just met once in the game’s shorter format. The contest took place during the 2009 World T20I in England when India defeated Ireland by eight wickets in a group stage match.

India apparently named full-strength squad for the Ireland T20Is. The same squad will take on England in T20Is as well. The visitors will be led by Virat Kohli who has received from a shoulder injury. Kohli was scheduled to play for Surrey in county circuit nut the injury ruled him out of that stint. He along with other teammates will be looking to adjust to conditions in this series.

Ireland, on the other hand, included offspinner Andy McBrine and left-arm fast bowler Joshua Little in the squad. Ireland comes into the series after participating in a tri-series involving Netherlands and Scotland. Ireland managed to win only one game out four and finished last.
