England vs India Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - ODI Commentary
The visitors though started well, kept the run rate under some control initially which kept them in the game till the middle overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the star once again as he took three but even he went for runs along with the other bowlers. Yuzvendra Chahal was the most economical one and he picked up one as well. Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav too added their names to the wickets column but the death bowling looked ordinary as they conceded 94 runs in the last 10 overs. This pitch is a touch slower, however, if one stays in the middle long enough, they will score runs as shown by Joe Root. The run chase starts after a short while. See you on the other side of the break.
What a performance this has been from England. Once the opening partnership of 69 runs between Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow set up the innings, Joe Root carried it all the way. First he got together with Eoin Morgan for a century stand and then came the blazing one in which he made 83 with David Willey. The left-hander did the bulk of the hitting towards the end and thrashed the Indian bowlers. Root completed his 12th ton in the process while David his maiden fifty. It was a clinical performance from the home team batters which has put the Men in Blue under pressure with a stiff target to chase.

ENGLAND FINISH ON 322/7!

Virat Kohli says they anyway wanted to bowl first. Feels it's a hard surface and wants to make the most of the conditions. States they have done well chasing during the T20I series, so doesn't mind doing that again. Mentions that his two spinners will be crucial in the middle overs, but the new ball will play its part as well. Adds the World Cup is quite far away, so just wants to focus on the game at hand. Says Lord's is a beautiful place to play cricket and is looking forward to it. Informs that they too are unchanged.
Eoin Morgan reckons it's going to be a belter today, so wants to put runs on the board first up. Feels the more they face India, the better they will be able to prepare against them. Is sure if he and his players stick to their strengths, they can only get better. Ends by saying that they are playing the same team.
TOSS - England win the toss and they will have a bat first!
The support has been immaculate throughout the tour for both the teams and Virat Kohli recognized the same in the last game as well. Eoin Morgan has a few things to think about coming into this contest. However, everything aside, the two top-ranked teams are a privilege to watch. The action starts soon at the Mecca of Cricket, hang around!
Hello and welcome to the second ODI between England and India at Lord's. It's a bright and sunny morning in the capital city and we're looking forward to an exciting contest between two talented sides. India are on the verge of winning the series and conquering the number one spot in ODIs from the home team as well, if they win this game. On the other hand, the English team will be looking to make amends from the last game and come back stronger against the team from Asia.
That is it from our side for this match. England have leveled the series with a thumping victory in the Mecca of cricket and set up thrilling game for the third and the final ODI of the series. However, the cricket continues around the globe. You can catch the second Test between Windies and Bangladesh just by switching tabs. We will see you again at 1230 GMT (1130 local) on Tuesday at Headingley, Leeds. Till then, ciao!
Man of the Match Joe Root says that it's similar for everyone as he believes the more time one spends in the middle the better they feel with their craft. Believes that the team has been playing a great brand of cricket throughout this summer. Praises the bowling effort from the bowler and says it was crucial to beat a team like India. Talks about learning from their mistakes and taking it an over at a time.
England captain Eoin Morgan says they learnt a lot from their mistakes in the previous game. Praises his batters, especially David Willey's innings at the end. Backs up his decision to bat first as it's his home ground and he knows the conditions better. Further asserts that Joe Root and his experience is immense, more so on sluggish pitches like these. Ends by saying that he believes that if they continue to play the way they did today, they should win the next in Leed's.
India captain Virat Kohli starts by saying that the pitch got slower in the second innings and adds that once you lose three wickets early, it gets difficult to chase a stiff target on such a wicket. Asserts that they like to test the character of the team and backs up the bowlers they played today. Praises the spin duo of Moeen Ali and Rashid Ali who he feels put them under pressure and didn't allow them to get runs. Defends MS Dhoni's innings and says that he is a match-winner and he will come good, if not today. Further adds that it was a bad day for most of our batters and believes that they will bounce back in the next match. Ends by saying that England is a good side and he expected them to bounce back after the loss.
India on the other hand had a decent start as the Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan put up a 49-run partnership. Once the former threw his wicket away, two quick wickets pushed the asking rate. The spin of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid bowled superbly as they didn't allow the lower order batters to get runs. Liam Plunkett ran through the lower order as India succumbed on the slower pitch.
