India vs England Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 50.0 IND: 256/8

As predicted by the Indian skipper at the toss, the pitch appears to be on the slower side, although it has something for the pacers as well. The home side will have to bat well to chase down this target, and the bowlers from the sub-continent should feel at home at Yorkshire's home ground. The second half of the remaining story continues in a short while, hang around!

Adil Rashid is giving an interview to Isa Guha. The leggie is happy with England's effort and feels that the score is chaseable. Feels the key to bowl on this or any other surface is to be confident and keep it simple. On being asked about the wicket of the Indian captain, Rashid answers it calmly and just shrugs it off saying obviously the feeling is good since it is that of the best player in the world but he is happier to have contributed to the team's cause. Is surprised to know that this is the first time Kohli has been bowled by a leg spinner but the modest guy is not even bothered much - just happy that England were able to put some brakes on the scoring. He hopes that the batters from his team will knock out this target.

England's main man, Rashid, got a 3-fer including a crucial two-wicket 31st over in which he got the wicket of Kohli who had scored 71 by then and looked set for another ton. Willey too finished well with the figures of 9-0-40-3 along with Wood who was impressive both with the old and new ball. For the Men in Blue, Dhoni played another slowish innings of 42 off 66 against his reputation but that kept India on course towards a challenging total. Once he got out, Kumar's 21 and Thakur's cameo at the fag end of the innings took the tourists over the psychological total of 250.

Well, it was a topsy-turvy batting effort from the Indian batters. They got off to a ragged start as Rohit fell to Willey early. Then, skipper Kohli got together with Dhawan and got the visitors back with a 71-run stand. But just when they looked good out in the middle, the latter got run out. This jolted them a bit but a solid-looking Karthik stitched a 41-run partnership with Kohli. Thereafter, England's spinners came into their own, which perhaps turned the tide in England's favor. They not only kept a leash on the opposition batters but also took wickets.

49.6 W

David Willey to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. OUT! Kumar's falls off the last delivery. A full toss he receives with all his might, tries to clear the fence but fails to generate enough power. It goes high in the air but not long enough. Bairstow moves across to his left from deep mid-wicket and takes the skier easily. Willey gets a 3-wicket haul. INDIA END ON 256/8!

49.5 1

David Willey to Shardul Thakur. A yorker length ball outside off, Shardul pumps it over mid off. Doesn't carry to the fielder in the deep again. A single more.

48.3 0

Ben Stokes to Shardul Thakur. Heavy ball, short and on off, Shardul tries to hook but misses.

48.2 2

Ben Stokes to Shardul Thakur. What an effort, Plunkett! Saves 4 runs for his side. Thakur has thumped another delivery, this time down the ground. It's destined to go over the line but Plunkett moves across to his right from long on, stretches his hands to catch the ball but then realizes that he's going over the rope. Immediately releases the ball behind and then returns to send it back in play. The umpire checks upstairs for the cleanliness of his effort and it's fine. His feet were close to the boundary line but stayed inches away from it. Well done.

48.1 6

Ben Stokes to Shardul Thakur. SIX! That was a big one the moment it left the bat. First for India today, in fact they didn't hit any at Lord's. To be precise a biggie for India after 106.2 overs and he is only the second one to hit a big one apart from Rohit Sharma in this series for the Blue team. Wow, some achievement, that. Shortish and on off, Thakur swings his bat and gets it away from the sweet spot. It flies and goes over the fence at mid-wicket.

Shardul Thakur is the new batsman.

45.5 W

David Willey to MS Dhoni. OUT! Willey has removed Dhoni! Excellent delivery by him. He serves it on the shorter side around off and it changes its direction slightly after landing. Dhoni gets squared up in defense and it shapes away to take the outside edge. Buttler takes yet another safe catch behind the wickets to end MS' stay at the crease. Eoin Morgan continues to make inspirational bowling changes. He has been right on the money.

David Willey to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. On a length around middle, helped towards square leg for a single. Good over so far by Willey.

45.3 1

David Willey to MS Dhoni. Shortish again, outside off, it's blazed through covers for one.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the new batsman. A slip in place.

38.2 W

Mark Wood to Hardik Pandya. OUT! Once again Morgan has done the trick. He does the bowling change, brings Mark Wood into the attack and the pacer gets rid of the dangerous Hardik Pandya. Bowls it on a good length just outside off and it skids back in after hitting the deck. Pandya with an unsure footwork pushes inside the line and gets a faint nick behind to Buttler. He makes no mistake and India slip further. Big wicket for England because the partnership was just beginning to blossom, it was worth 36 off 44 balls and India were on the cusp of pressing on the accelerator.

38.1 2

Mark Wood to Hardik Pandya. Good length ball on middle and leg, it has been worked behind square leg for a couple of runs.

End of Over : 38 2 Runs IND: 192/5

37.1 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. On the pads, worked to the on side for nothing.

End of Over : 37 9 Runs IND: 190/5
36.6 0

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. Outside off, floated and left alone by Pandya for Jos. What a spell of leg spin bowling this has been. He has become one of the leading wrist bowlers in the world and in this match, his figures read 10-0-49-3.

36.5 4

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. FOUR! What a good looking shot that is from Pandya and almost a screamer taken by Plunkett in the deep. A floated delivery around off, Pandya lofts the cover drive and manages to get it just wide of Plunkett there sweeping near the fence after running across to his left from long off.

36.4 2

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. A slash by Pandya but luckily it misses the stumps. A tossed up full delivery from Adil, on middle and entices Hardik with a rash shot. He does exactly that and gets it to the fine leg region from the inside edge of the bat. Two more added to the total.

36.3 2

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. Good running from the duo. A tossed up ball on middle and off, Pandya flicked it off his pad towards square leg. Stokes there runs to his right but couldn't gather the ball cleanly. As a result, a brace is taken.

36.2 1

Adil Rashid to MS Dhoni. On the pads, worked through square leg for a run.

36.1 0

Adil Rashid to MS Dhoni. What a spell this has been against a good spin playing nation. A flighted ball on leg, MS comes out of his crease to smother the spin but misses to get hit on his pad. No harm done in the end.

End of Over : 36 5 Runs IND: 181/5
35.6 1

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Rocks back and pushes it to the off side to take a single.

35.5 0

34.1 0

Adil Rashid to MS Dhoni. Floated on leg, pushed to mid-wicket for nothing.

Drinks break. This game has turned on its head in between the two drinks break. India were going great guns but a run out by Stokes opened the floodgates and Adil Rashid barged into it with a 3-fer. The Men in Blue are reeling at the moment and need MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya to form a big alliance. The last 16 overs (if it goes till there) promises to be exciting.

End of Over : 34 5 Runs IND: 173/5
33.6 1

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Once again the length is on the shorter side, outside off, Dhoni goes back and punches it to sweeper cover for one.

33.5 1

Moeen Ali to Hardik Pandya. Short in length and spinning back in from outside off, Pandya jumps inside the crease and cuts it through point for a single.

33.4 2

Moeen Ali to Hardik Pandya. Full and around leg, spinning down, Hardik gets down on one knee and paddles it towards fine leg for two.

33.3 0

Moeen Ali to Hardik Pandya. Stays back and works it with the spin to mid-wicket.

32.6 0

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. Nicely leaves the leg spinner on length for the keeper.

32.5 4

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. FOUR! Lucky, very lucky. Rashid almost had another one. He bowls this one around off and pushes it through. Pandya chops it off the back foot but only manages an under edge. The ball goes inside the legs of Jos and races towards boundary. Stokes runs after it but even a desperate dive couldn't stop the ball going over the fence.

32.4 0

Adil Rashid to Hardik Pandya. A leggie on middle, flicked to the on side for nothing.

32.3 1

Adil Rashid to MS Dhoni. Fuller on middle and leg, driven down the ground by MS. A single results.

31.5 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Pushed to covers off the front foot by MS.

31.4 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Comes down the track and gets hit on the pads again. He is struggling against the off spinner.

31.3 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Dhoni survives. What a review! There's a reason the Indian fans call it the 'Dhoni' Review System. He knows what he is doing, whether in front of the stumps or behind them. Terrific bowling from Moeen Ali, bamboozling Dhoni with an off spinner. A flighted ball outside off, Dhoni comes onto the front foot to push it through covers. However, he misses the ball and gets hit on the back pad as the ball sneaks through bat and pad. Rashid starts to celebrate and doesn't even look behind for the decision. The umpire raises his finger but Dhoni reviews straightaway. Everything was fine in the replays but the ball bounced over the leg stump. Dhoni survives, and India's hopes along with him.

MS Dhoni has reviewed the LBW decision against him. He looks out. Or is he?

31.2 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Flatter on middle and off, MS keeps it out from the inside edge off the bat.

31.1 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Punched off the back foot by Dhoni through covers.

In comes Hardik Pandya with India struggling.

End of Over : 31 2 Runs IND: 158/5
30.6 W

Adil Rashid to Suresh Raina. OUT! Eoin Morgan, you beauty. Great pro-activeness shown by him to plant a leg gully for Raina. Rashid dishes out a leg spinner around middle and off, Raina gets forward to work it across the line but it takes the upper half of his bat and goes behind to Root at leg gully. He crouches low to catch it inches off the ground and India lose half their side now. Once again Adil has hunted down Raina. England have roared back in this contest all thanks to the leggie.

A leg gully in place for Suresh Raina.

30.5 0

Adil Rashid to Suresh Raina. Very full on middle, Raina digs it out safely.

30.4 0

Adil Rashid to Suresh Raina. Shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.

30.3 1

Adil Rashid to MS Dhoni. Short and pulled to deep mid-wicket for a run.

30.2 1

Adil Rashid to Suresh Raina. Gets forward and pushes it to the off side for a single.

What's going on in the middle? Some sort of a controversy? Not exactly. The umpires actually wanted to check whether the ball hit the stumps first or the keeper took it out on the Kohli dismissal. Hmm... Buttler looks very embarrassed. All good in the replays.

Suresh Raina is in next. My advice to him, watch out for that googly and don't attempt to slog sweep early in the innings. Was bowled in the last match by Adil Rashid.

30.1 W

Adil Rashid to Virat Kohli. OUT! Adil Rashid strikes gold! The smile on his face says it all. Kohli is completely bamboozled. He is standing there shell-shocked. A leg spinner by Rashid, drifting in and landing around middle. Kohli stays back to attempt to keep it out on the leg side (probably misreading it to be a wrong 'un) but it spins past his willow and disturbs the stumps. Big celebration from England. And maybe, Kuldeep Yadav too will be celebrating within himself after seeing this ball spin viciously. You need some magic from the deck to go through the defense of one of the best in the business at the moment, if not the best. Kohli not converting his fifty into a hundred is also a rare phenomenon.

End of Over : 30 10 Runs IND: 156/3
29.6 1

Moeen Ali to Virat Kohli. Forces a full ball to long on and keeps strike with a single.

29.5 0

Moeen Ali to Virat Kohli. Kohli has played that off the front foot and into the ground.

29.4 4

Moeen Ali to Virat Kohli. FOUR! Second boundary in the over. India continue to find the fence and are going along quite smoothly. Kohli this time rocks back to a short ball outside off and packs a punch through cover-point. No chance for the sweeper in the deep.

29.3 1

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Skips down the track and plays it in the gap at mid-wicket for a run.

29.2 4

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. FOUR! Superb shot! Flighted and full on off, Dhoni goes forward and across before kneeling down to play a sweet sweep shot. Times it well and places it behind square leg to find the fence.

29.1 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Mishit! Dhoni gives the charge and tries to slog sweep it over mid-wicket. But he fails to middle his shot. It goes off the inside half of the blade and Stokes standing in front of square leg stops the ball.

End of Over : 29 2 Runs IND: 146/3
28.6 1

Adil Rashid to MS Dhoni. The batsman has driven it through mid off. One run added to the total.

28.1 1

Adil Rashid to Virat Kohli. Flighted and full on middle, played down to long on for a run.

End of Over : 28 3 Runs IND: 144/3
27.6 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Turns it off his pads but not in the gap. End of a tidy over, just 3 coming off it.

27.5 2

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Short and outside off, cut through point for a couple.

27.4 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Appeal for an lbw but only by Jos Buttler. Moeen Ali decides not to join him as he goes to first collect the ball. A quicker one darted into the batsman, Dhoni walks down the track but fails to get it away. Is hit on the pads, Buttler screams his lungs out but it no avail. Moeen moves across to his right to collect the ball. A bit embarrassing for the keeper.

27.3 0

Moeen Ali to MS Dhoni. Flatter on off, punched back to the bowler.

27.2 1

Moeen Ali to Virat Kohli. Tickles this one through the gap on the leg side for a run.

27.1 0

End of Over : 27 9 Runs IND: 141/3

David Willey to Rohit Sharma. Attacking field placement from Willey. He has a short mid-wicket in a catching position where exactly Rohit plays this shot. A flick off the inner half of the bat. Clever from England!

1.3 0

David Willey to Rohit Sharma. Around middle and off, tucked to mid-wicket for nothing.

1.2 1

David Willey to Shikhar Dhawan. In line of the stumps, tucked to the on side. Dhawan looks for a run but comes back into his crease quickly. Willey runs and has a shy at the striker's end but misses the sticks. The ball goes towards third man and Dhawan opens his account with a single.

1.1 0

David Willey to Shikhar Dhawan. Around off, kept out from the crease by Dhawan.

David Willey will share the attack with Mark Wood.

End of Over : 1 0 Runs IND: 0/0
0.6 0

Mark Wood to Rohit Sharma. Similar delivery, Rohit misses it again. A maiden to start with!

0.5 0

Mark Wood to Rohit Sharma. That is an absolute jaffa from Wood. A length ball around off, it lands and just moves away a touch. Rohit looks to play the line but he misses again. Good start from Wood.

0.4 0

Mark Wood to Rohit Sharma. Rohit chooses to leave the ball outside his off stump.

0.3 0

Mark Wood to Rohit Sharma. And misses this time. A back of a length ball just outside off, Rohit looks to poke at it but misses.

0.2 0

Mark Wood to Rohit Sharma. Keeps it around off, left alone by Sharma.

0.1 0

Mark Wood to Rohit Sharma. Starts with two slips in place. He bowls a full ball wide outside off, Rohit goes fetching but misses. Straightaway some movement for Wood and he should feel lucky as it was too close to the tramline. No signal by the umpire.

And we're all set to go. The players are out in the middle and we're ready to rock'n roll. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are the opening pair for India. Mark Wood will take the first new ball for England. Get, set, go!

Pitch report - Alan Wilkins doing the pitch report says that it is the BEST one for ODI cricket in the entire country. The average score at this venue is 298 in the last 5 years. Sanjay Manjrekar says that small boundaries do not help the cause either with the average distance being 75 meters. The pitch looks good, he says but there is a slightly dark greyish look to it, which suggests that there will be a bit of moisture on the surface. Wilkins observes that there is a tinge of tufty grass on the track which suggests that although runs should come in aplenty, the pitch will turn. On this, Sanjay observes that in England, with the sun out the whole day, the tracks tend to get dried up very quickly due to the heat, as observed at Lord's. Wilco adds that the strong breeze blowing across the ground should help in drying out the pitch as well. The opinion from both is 'better lose the toss' because it is a tricky decision to make whether to bat or bowl. With the spinners India have, bowling second may not be a bad option, comments Manjrekar.

India captain Virat Kohli says they wanted to bat first as he believes that the pitch might break up a bit in the second half. Some tactical changes in the playing XI as well as mentioned by the skipper. He says that Dinesh Karthik comes in for KL Rahul while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur replace Siddarth Kaul and Umesh Yadav respectively. Adds that they are giving some game time to the players who haven't had any yet. Asserts that it is important to give your best when you're playing the best ODI team. Further adds that this is an opportunity to prove themselves. Ends by saying that they just have to go out in the middle and express themselves.

England captain Eoin Morgan says that the pitch looks really good and will stay the same throughout. Reckons it will be a real test against a side like India and they rarely get occasions like this. Adds that they don't want to do anything different and will stick to the basics. Confirms the news of James Vince coming in the playing XI and mentions that he showed some fantastic form for Hampshire of late.

Toss - England win the toss and choose to bowl.

For the hosts, Ben Stokes made a comeback but they are still missing out on the services of Chris Woakes. However, Liam Plunkett and David Willey's form in the last match have given them a shot in the arm. Their batting too looks solid given that Joe Root has found some rhythm. The decider will provide with another edge of the seat stuff, you can bet on it. The action starts soon, hang around!

Voila! Welcome to the third and final ODI between England and India at Headingley, Leeds. An overcast and cloudy weather brings us to the finale of the fiercely fought series. Both the teams have shown what they are made of, provided with glimpses of dominance and kept the entertainment levels to the highest in each of the previous two encounters. After injuries to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, the Men in Blue went into the ODI series with the second-choice Umesh Yadav and Siddarth Kaul pairing, hence, the pace bowling looked a bit shaky. However, the spin duo has kept the visitors in the game, especially Kuldeep Yadav. Their middle order too needs to get into the act or else it could provide Virat Kohli with a lot of headaches.

End of Over : 44.3 ENG: 260/2

Okay then! End of a fairly one-sided ODI series. The T20Is were more competitive, in my opinion. India won that 2-1 while England have done that in the ODIs. The teams now get ready for a 5-match Test series and surprisingly, neither side has announced its squad yet. That begins on the 1st of August, 2018 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. That is all from us for tonight. Before we leave, please do follow cricket from other parts of the world - Zimbabwe playing Pakistan, Sri Lanka taking on South Africa and of course, Windies playing Bangladesh. Plenty of cricket. Take some rest for now. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

Victorious English captain, Eoin Morgan, terms the win as OUTSTANDING. Stresses that the win was set up by Mark Wood and David Willey - especially because the ball swung for only the first 3-4 overs but they adjusted well and changed their line and length. Feels good about the run chase too, not giving India too many opportunities. On his decision at the toss, he says that he expected the pitch to be a belter, giving a chase of around 300-320 but then praises his bowlers for keeping India quiet. On his own success, he says that any captain is only as good as his team and his players are responsible for England's status today. Admits that India thrashed his side at Trent bridge but then his unit bounced back. Agrees that they have managed to pick Kuldeep Yadav well as the series progressed. Is now looking to the future ahead for England in the coming months - Sri Lanka in the Island nation, then the Windies at home.

Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, admits that India were never on the mark as far as the runs on the board were concerned - 25 or 30 less is the number. Praises England for being on the mark with the ball and feels they deserved the win. On the pitch, he feels that it was a bit damp at the start, then became two-paced and against the spinners, it became really slow, which made matters difficult for the Indian batsmen. Praises Moeen and Rashid for bowling well in pairs and stifling his team well. On the team changes, Virat says that it was a tactical decision - Bhuvneshwar was fit while Thakur looked good in his last game - hence both came in. As far as Karthik is concerned, he says that he wanted to give him a good run in the middle order. Stresses that tactical decisions look good when they come off but questionable when they don't. On being asked about the World Cup in 2019, VK says that these kind of losses show them exactly what needs to be rectified in the remaining 16-17 matches to the major event. On the upcoming Test series, he says that India are not too worried about the 5-match series as his batsmen are in really good form and he expects a fine contest with England expected to give them a run for their money. On being asked about Rashid dismissing him, Kohli manages a smile and says that he has played Rashid since the Under-19s and is surprised to see him not turning the ball as much as he was doing at that age. Says that Rashid is a quality bowler and bowled really well today.

JOE ROOT IS THE MAN OF THE SERIES for scoring 216 runs being dismissed only once. He says that it feels fantastic coming into a big series and perform the way his side has done. States that it is a testament to the way the team has performed in the past few months. Praises the bowlers for bowling really well and then the way the run chase was handled - ruthless is the word he chooses. On the pitch and the run chase, he says that there was hardly any scoreboard pressure thanks to the bowlers and it was only about building partnerships. On fighting his way back to form, he says that he just backed himself, trusted in his abilities and it all got together. On England's excellent ODI record at Headingley (winning 5 on the trot), he smiles and says that he is not too sure about the reason for that but as far as today's game is concerned, he says that the team was up for it, as it was a finale. Is now looking forward to the Test series against India, citing them as a very good and dangerous team.

ADIL RASHID IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH FOR HIS 3/49. He feels that all the seniors played really well today. Adds that all the bowlers bowled tight lines and got their rewards. Stressing further, he says that the seamers stuck to their lengths and the spinners just concentrated on hitting the right areas. On being asked about dismissing Kohli, he says it gives a lot of confidence in dismissing the best batsman in the world but what satisfies him even more is that the team profited by it. Thanks the crowd for coming out in numbers to support them.

The one ball which changed the match - 30.1 - Adil Rashid bowling to Virat Kohli in supreme form, only to see the batsman miss a fairly normal leg spinning ball, to skid through and hit the timber. India lost momentum from there. At that stage, with the score reading 156, possibly 270-280 was on the cards. Then, when Hardik and Dhoni were batting, India sensed a fightback. But the former's wicket robbed them of momentum again and the quickfire 35-run stand for the 8th wicket in 25 balls between Bhuvi and Shardul was just a factor of giving the total a decent look. The presentation is coming up...

How good were England with the ball early on? They were the ones responsible for the visitors not putting any pressure. Mark Wood and David Wiley bowled a sensational opening spell, even though it did not have enough wickets and then the spin twins took over. Adil Rashid took 3 wickets, continuing his excellent form this year while David Willey came back towards the end to take a 3-fer.

'If Kohli does not get a hundred, India are going to lose' - a strong statement by Sourav Ganguly on air. No, I don't want to be a cheeky press writer trying to catch the reader's attention with quirky headlines. What Ganguly said before that was - if India's batting does not support Kohli, it will suffer in the long run. Kohli said at the toss that he wanted to bat first any which ways but Morgan had judged the pitch to perfection. He expected the track to get better as the game progressed and that is exactly what happened - it seemed like someone had changed the pitch in the innings break.

Now, about Joe Root. He has registered his 13th ODI ton, the most by an English player, going past Marcus Trescothick. There were fingers pointed at him due to his sorry form in T20Is - so much so that he had taken a break in the early part of the year from that format - pulling himself out of the T20I tri-series against Australia and New Zealand. Then he came back here, struggled against Australia, where he managed just one 50 in 5 innings but here, with consecutive hundreds, he has done himself no harm with a cracker of a Test series coming up...

While we are harping over the ease with which England chased down a fairly competitive total today, one also needs to look at how India bowled and fielded. They seemed to lack intent - as if already having given up on the chase. The fielding was lacklustre too which did not help their cause. And the 'KULCHA' today did not work well for India - wicketless in 20 overs - the FIRST TIME it has happened when both have played in an ODI. Bhuvi was rusty, Pandya was not at his best while Thakur lacked experience.

A perfectly planned run chase by the home side. First Bairstow set the tone by trying to catch the 7 pm train in a 13-ball 30 which had 7 boundaries in it. That gave England enough runs as a cushion to play out Kuldeep and Chahal with ease. Morgan and Root then eased themselves into form, especially the latter, who will be crucial in the 5-match Test series to follow after this.

The number 1 side has strut its stuff. Is this a big statement going into the 2019 World Cup? You never know. Probably, the two finalists have played this series? Too early to say but the roadmap seems to give that indication.

44.3 4

Hardik Pandya to Joe Root. FOUR! CENTURY FOR ROOT, SERIES FOR ENGLAND! What a knock... consecutive tons for the man who was 'out of form'. A high full toss outside off, Root heaves it over mid-wicket and finds the boundary! First, we check whether it is a waist high no ball, but it is fine and Root hugs his skipper! Well played, England. Well played, Root.

44.3 wd

Hardik Pandya to Joe Root. WIDE! The crowd goes 'BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!' to Pandya now. He bowls a really bad delivery, way outside off, so far that Root cannot reach it. The poor batsman looks dejected as the scores are level now and he still needs 4...

44.2 0

Hardik Pandya to Joe Root. Full and wide outside off, Joe slashes hard but misses.

44.1 2

Hardik Pandya to Joe Root. Excellent fielding by Dinesh Karthik! Guess who will be the happiest seeing that? Joe Root. He pulls this short delivery outside off towards deep mid-wicket and nearly gets it to the fence. That would have sealed the match with Root stranded on 98. But Dinesh Karthik gets to the ball from mid-wicket and pulls it back in! Two runs taken, now he is still in with a chance to get his ton! England need 2, he needs 4!

End of Over : 44 3 Runs ENG: 253/2
43.6 0

Shardul Thakur to Eoin Morgan. 'ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!' goes the crowd. Can he get to his century with a biggie? A short ball around off, Morgan looks to defend but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads. Thakur finishes with figures of 10-0-51-1. Bowled decently though.

43.5 0

Shardul Thakur to Eoin Morgan. Is that a nick? No... if you are an opposition of India today. A touch short outside off, Morgan flashes hard but misses.

43.4 0

Shardul Thakur to Eoin Morgan. On a length around off, coming in, watchfully defended.

43.3 0

End of Over : 43 6 Runs ENG: 250/2

Hardik Pandya to Eoin Morgan. WIDE. A slower bouncer, around off, Eoin lets it pass. The equation - England 11, Root 8.

42.3 0

Hardik Pandya to Eoin Morgan. DROPPED! Nothing... nothing is going right for India or Bhuvi today. A full toss on middle, Morgan chips it over mid on, or looks to, rather. He does not get enough on it and presents a fairly simple catch to Bhuvneshwar Kumar over there - who just spills it.

42.2 1

Hardik Pandya to Joe Root. Full and outside off, driven through the covers for a single. He needs 8 more, his team 12.

42.1 0

Hardik Pandya to Joe Root. On a length outside off, driven straight to point.

Hardik Pandya given an opportunity. 4-0-26-0 so far.

41.5 1

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. On the pads, helped through square leg for a single.

41.4 0

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. Gets another straight drive but Bhuvi comes in the way this time.

41.3 0

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. Gets it straighter, Joe defends.

41.2 4

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. FOUR! AWESOME! The Test skipper is into the 90s while England are 14 away from a win. Will he get to triple figures? Full and outside off, Root drives this straight back down the ground. Mid on and mid off gives up the chase as soon it bisects them.

41.1 0

Kuldeep Yadav to Eoin Morgan. Outside off, punched through the covers for a single to move to 80 from 91 balls.

37.4 6

37.3 0

Kuldeep Yadav to Eoin Morgan. Tossed up around off, Morgan lunges to block but the ball spins past the outside edge.

37.1 0

Kuldeep Yadav to Joe Root. Floated around off, watchfully defended.

Coasting. Are. England. So comfortable is this victory (assuming) that the only interest left in the game is whether either of Root or Morgan get to a century. Doubt whether both will.

End of Over : 37 6 Runs ENG: 219/2

34.6 1

Yuzvendra Chahal to Joe Root. The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. One run added to the total. 15 from the over, Chahal finishes with figures of 10-0-41-0. Decent economy but India would have loved to have something in the wickets' column.

34.5 4

Yuzvendra Chahal to Joe Root. FOUR! Puts this away. A high full toss, Root goes back and pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary!

34.5 1

Yuzvendra Chahal to Joe Root. IT IS A NO BALL! Oh dear... not India's day at all, is it? Chahal has overstepped. It is a crime to bowl a no ball any which ways but by a spinner, well, it is an unpardonable offense. The third umpire has a check multiple times and every time we see with plenty of zoom in angles - Chahal's foot on the line, not behind. The ball is a beauty as is shown in the replays further. Tossed up, Root looking to flick but missing. Dhoni behind had whipped off the bails in a flash. Root was a goner! Just like the bowler, the batsman also had nothing behind the line...

A late hope for India? They have gone up for a stumping appeal against Root. Dhoni looks very confident...

34.4 3

Yuzvendra Chahal to Eoin Morgan. NEARLY THROUGH HIM! India would have loved to see this happen in Chahal's first over. Tossed up outside off, Eoin lunges to defend but the ball spins in a mile and goes past the outside edge and over the stumps towards fine leg. Three runs taken as the ball stops near the boundary.

32.1 0

Yuzvendra Chahal to Eoin Morgan. Full and outside off, Morgan looks to defend getting well across the line but misses and is hit on the pads. The Indian team might be looking down at the moment but captain Kohli has enough energy to shout for a LBW.

End of Over : 32 4 Runs ENG: 188/2
31.6 1

Kuldeep Yadav to Eoin Morgan. Outside off, punches it through point for a single. 69 more needed from 108 balls now.

31.1 0

Kuldeep Yadav to Joe Root. A touch short on middle, Root goes back and works it towards square leg. Immediately, the Indian version of Zizou over here with us, says, 'He is bowling too slow. So much that Root has enough time to go back and play it from his crease.' And immediately we are shown Kohli's dismissal to Rashid who bowled quicker through the air.

Last throw of the dice for India and Kohli. Another go for Kuldeep Yadav. 6-0-36-0 so far.

End of Over : 31 3 Runs ENG: 184/2
30.6 0

30.2 0

Yuzvendra Chahal to Eoin Morgan. Full and around off, watchfully defended.

30.1 1

Yuzvendra Chahal to Joe Root. Full and outside off, pushed through point for a single.

Yuzvendra Chahal comes back on. Economical for sure - 7-0-21-0 - but England have done well to keep him wicketless so far.

End of Over : 30 6 Runs ENG: 181/2
29.6 1

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. A short ball again, pulled towards deep mid-wicket for another run.

29.5 0

29.4 0

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. Around off, watchfully defended to the leg side.

29.3 0

Shardul Thakur to Joe Root. DROPPED? Yes. MS Dhoni it is. Hard to say whether it would have mattered much in the context of the game but India's fielding has not been of the highest standard today. Down the leg side, Root tickles it fine, but almost gets it to the keeper behind. MS gets low but the ball brushes his left glove and dies down.

29.2 1

A touch short on middle, Root taps it towards short mid-wicket and calls for a quick single. Vince responds but it is a very risky run. It is Hardik Pandya whom they are challenging and the one to whom he is throwing - Mr. Dhoni. The throw is a poor one as Hardik has to run to his right and then pick up and throw. But the class of Dhoni converts it into a decent one, getting low to his right and hitting the stumps. He immediately appeals, rather signals that it is out.
