England vs India Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - T20I Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 ENG: 159/8

The pitch looks a belter to bat on but needs application to get runs. After the 14th over bowled by the chinaman, no other batter could hang around for long. Only David Willey hit a few to drag the team's total to 159. It has been a comprehensive performance from the Indian bowlers, now their batsmen need to chase it down to stamp their authority first up. The second innings start soon, hang around!

Oh boy! What a beginning to the tour of England for the Men in Blue. It started with the English openers getting into the attacking mode first up. Jos Buttler and Jason Roy put a 50-run stand to get their team up and running. However, once Umesh Yadav got the wicket of Roy, the floodgates opened. Buttler sprayed his shots all over the park in his 69 off 46 balls but couldn't stop carnage at the other end. The terminator, Kuldeep Yadav flighted the ball nicely and cleaned up the middle-order practically in one over. He took three in that and ended up with a 5-fer, his career-best.

19.6 2

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to David Willey. Angled ball wide outside off, Willey flashes and gets it uppishly to covers. The fielder from the deep runs in but can't stop the batsmen from taking two. Just 8 from the final over and ENGLAND FINISH ON 159!

17.4 W

Kuldeep Yadav to Jos Buttler. OUT! A 5-fer for Kuldeep Yadav. His first in T20Is. Buttler doesn't last the distance. What a start to the tour for the wrist spinner. He has upset Buttler's rhythm and got him out eventually. He flights this one again around off, similar delivery to the dropped catch two balls back. Jos throws his bat at it again and skies it. The ball goes straight up in the air towards long on and Virat Kohli takes the catch to send him home. What a revelation Kuldeep has been for India.

Hardik Pandya to Moeen Ali. Better from Pandya, full and on off, Ali finds the man at covers with his drive.

15.2 4

15.1 1

Hardik Pandya to Jos Buttler. Eases it down to long on for a run.

Hardik Pandya to bowl out. A good move by Kohli. He knows the batsmen will not go for the big shots and hence, he decides to end Pandya's spell.

13.4 W

Kuldeep Yadav to Joe Root. OUT! Joe Root has not got his bat down in time! Goodness gracious! Kuldeep Yadav has made a mess of the in-form English batting line-up. Another cracker to follow the last one. Another wrong 'un, tossed up around off, Joe comes forward to push at the ball. It sneaks past the outside edge and goes to Dhoni. He fumbles it initially but gathers it eventually and removes the bails. The decision has been taken to the third umpire but the Indians are already celebrating. Replays find Root short and Dhoni now has the most stumpings in T20Is. Three wickets in four balls and Yadav is on a hat-trick here.

Has Root gone off his first ball? The Indians are celebrating but the umpire has taken it upstairs to check. It is a referral for a stumping.

Joe Root makes his way out to the middle.

13.3 W

Kuldeep Yadav to Jonny Bairstow. OUT! Kuldeep Yadav, remember the name. What an absolute peach from him. A tossed up wrong 'un outside off, it pitches and goes past the flashing blade of Bairstow. A flighted delivery around off, he goes for the slog sweep but only manages to sky it towards the mid-wicket region. Opposition skipper, Virat Kohli, stationed himself there for such shots and takes this catch comfortably. He has a smile on his face. Kuldeep Yadav is looking dangerous for England.

10.2 6

Hardik Pandya to Jos Buttler. SIX! Punished by Buttler. You can't bowl short to him and if you do, he will hit it all day. He gets to his fifty in style. His 7th in this format. His purple patch continues. He gets a ball on his body. Jos moves away from the crease and flat-bats it over the square leg boundary as the ball sails into the stands. He raises his bat to acknowledge the applause by the crowd.

Hardik Pandya comes back for another over.

End of Over : 10 5 Runs ENG: 77/1
9.6 1

Kuldeep Yadav to Jos Buttler. Yes, he does! Only a single. This is full and fast outside off, Buttler only hits it down to long off for a run. So once again, even though a boundary is hit in the over it does not go for a lot. Just 5 from it and just 27 from the last 5 overs.

Second time in the over Yadav pulls out. Not sure about the reason.

End of Over : 7 6 Runs ENG: 59/1

The fielder there fumbles and the Buttler calls for a second. His partner obliges. The fielder picks the ball up and fires it to the keeper who collects the ball and whips the bails off. Dhoni appeals but he does not seem to confident. The umpire takes it upstairs. Replays show that Buttler is well in. A couple to end the over, another good one for India, just 6 from it. 9 from the last 2.

An appeal for a run out has been taken upstairs. Jos is the man in question. He seems to be in though.

4.6 W

Umesh Yadav to Jason Roy. OUT! Drags it on! Umesh Yadav draws first blood! How much did India need this? A lot at the moment. It was another short one. A length which Roy has not been comfortable with. He goes for the pull but the shot selection is wrong as the ball is not short enough to play it. The ball takes the bottom edge and goes onto hit the leg stump behind. Umesh Yadav is pumped up and so are the Indian players. Roy starts walking back to the pavilion but he has given a brilliant start to England.

4.5 1

Umesh Yadav to Jos Buttler. In the air... but Chahal does not go for the catch. Hence, it lands safe. A bumper and a pacy one. Buttler is slightly surprised by it as he goes for the pull. The bounce gets big on him and it takes the top edge. It goes high up in the air towards fine leg. Chahal there runs towards the ball but bails out at the very last moment. Collects it on the bounce and the batsmen take a run. 50 up for England and it has come up in quick time.

1.3 1

Umesh Yadav to Jason Roy. Starts off with a bumper outside off, Roy may have been a touch surprised by it as he is late on the pull. He misses.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Jason Roy. Right on the money by Kumar! He also gets some movement away from the batsman. He lands it on a length around off, Roy gets behind the line of the delivery and defends it solidly.

We are all set for the action to get underway. Bright sunshine welcomes the players out. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler are the openers for England. The former will be on strike and he will be facing Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He has a slip in place. Here we go...

England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Jos Buttler(w), Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan(c), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett.

India (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Suresh Raina, Lokesh Rahul, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.

England skipper, Eoin Morgan, says he too wanted to bowl first and he reckons the wicket will not change. Mentions they are heading into the game in good form but expects India to give them a run for their money. Informs they are playing the same XI they played against Australia.

Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says it looks like a good wicket and he does not expect it to change a lot. Mentions the weather has been brilliant in both England as well as Ireland. Further adds that the players are eager to go. Informs they are in a positive mindset and hope to play fearless cricket against a good side.

Toss - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favor of India. They opt to bowl first.

Pitch Report - Sanjay Manjrekar along with Deep Dasgupta have a look at the pitch. They report that there is no grass on the pitch, it looks brown and a belter of a track. Adds that there's a lot heat as well and it almost feels like Sharjah or Dubai. Dasgupta ends by saying that the boundaries are long on either sides which should aid the spinner.

India on the other hand, are also entering the series on a string of strong performances and we can expect a cracking contest between the two. Will the English batsmen tackle the spin twins in the opposition? Will Bumrah be missed? Can the English spinners provide the same magic as they did against the Kangaroos? All the questions will be answered shortly.

The hosts head into the game as slight favorites as they play in familiar home conditions. Also, their confidence will be sky-high as they head into the contest after inflicting a whitewash on the Aussies.

The wait is over, we are moments away from the first T20I between England and India at Old Trafford, Manchester. Arguably the two best sides going around at the moment will lock horns. How excited are you? Well, I just can't wait for the first ball to get underway. Welcome to the coverage.

End of Over : 18.2 IND: 163/2

So that is it from this game! India have won their first T20I against England in England due to which they have also taken a 1-0 lead in the series. England on the other hand, will somehow have to come up with a solution on how to play Kuldeep Yadav. There are still quite a few days for the next game which will be played on the 6th of July at 0200 local (0100 GMT). Will the visitors once again blow the hosts away or will the home side fight back? Join us to find out. Till then, goodbye and take care.

Man of the Match, Kuldeep Yadav, says it is the perfect start to his first tour in England. Reckons the wicket suited him and he stuck to bowling line and length. Adds further he looked to land the googly in the perfect area and it went well for him. Mentions Kohli and Dhoni guided him well and he is happy to play under them. Ends by saying he will hope to continue his form.

India skipper, Virat Kohli says they were very convincing in this game. He is happy about the youngsters stepping up. Praises Rahul and Kuldeep for the way they played. He reckons Kuldeep's over changed it for them. He feels England scored at least 30 or 40 less than what they should have.

England skipper, Eoin Morgan starts by saying India played really well. Adds further the conditions were good and India fought back really hard. Acknowledges the knock of Rahul. Admits they failed to take all the chances that came to them and they can't afford to do that when they are defending an average total. Ends by saying India outplayed them in this game.

The England bowlers had no answers to the onslaught. The pacers were taken to the cleaners and the spinners, from whom a lot was expected, also could not deliver. Rashid and Willey did bowl well but when you are defending a total which is below par you need everybody to chip in which was not the case for England in this game.

Chasing 160, India lost Dhawan early. Rahul then joined forces with Sharma and the two plundered the bowling. More Rahul than Rohit who was happy to play second fiddle. The duo added 123 in just 71 balls which turned the tide completely in India's favour. Rohit fell 8 shot of his half ton but Rahul continued. He along with Kohli ensured there were no further hiccups. The latter got to his ton while the skipper hit the winning runs in style.

A mockery is what India have made of this run chase and it is courtesy a brilliant ton by Rahul. He walks off to a standing ovation from the crowd. He along with Kuldeep, who took a fifer, has made this English side look really ordinary.

18.2 6

Moeen Ali to Virat Kohli. SIX! India have done it, they have won by 8 wickets. A complete performance from them. Kohli had enough of it as the bottom hand comes into play. The ball easily goes up and over the long on boundary for a maximum.

Adil tosses this one up outside off, Sharma sees this as an opportunity and plays the lofted cover drive straight to Morgan stationed there. A wicket too late in the context of the game as they don't really celebrate it. Rohit Sharma played the perfect foil for KL Rahul. A magnificent partnership comes to an end which has completely tilted the game into India's favour. They need another 33.

0.1 4

David Willey to Shikhar Dhawan. FOUR! Underway with a boundary! Not in convincing manner but Dhawan won't mind. Willey does get some shape away from the batsman but the length is on the shorter side. Dhawan flashes at it but gets an outside edge past the lone slip fielder and into the third man fence.

We are back for the chase. The target is not a big one but India would like a good start from their openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. The latter is on strike and he will be facing David Willey who will be hoping for some movement. Will he get any? We will come to know as he runs up to bowl the first ball.
