One would say this is India's game to lose from here after a splendid bowling performance. But you never know, with some early wickets and quick short balls anything is possible. Up next is the Indian run chase.

India were excellent in the field. They bowled perfect lines at the start and didn't allow any of the Englishmen to get under them. The spin twins, known as 'Kulcha' did their work in the middle overs. The visitors got back in the game well after the openers took off, thanks to one man - Kuldeep Yadav. The chinaman got his first 6-wicket haul in ODIs and the home team didn't have an answer to his bowling. Umesh picked up two wickets at the death and ensured that England did not cross the 270-mark. Kaul had a decent debut but no wickets to show for.

The English openers started off well and got them to a good start. This is interesting, they both made 38 off 35 balls and got out to Kuldeep. The hosts then lost quick wickets but Buttler and Stokes gave them some hope with a 93-run stand. The duo got to their respective fifties but Ben ate up a lot of balls which is unlike him. Towards the end, Adil Rashid scored some vital boundaries which helped England post a fighting total on the board.

England are all out within their 50 overs. Something they would have not thought of, especially after making a record 481 the last time they batted here. Excellent stuff from the Indians.

Raina at deep backward point gets the ball and throws it back quickly to MSD. Liam comes back for the second but he was always going to be second best. Virat Kohli says they will bowl first as the wicket is hard, much like the one in Manchester the other day. States that they will focus on their strengths and the wrist spinners in his side will have a key role to play in the middle overs. Despite the World Cup coming up, he reckons that no team is really looking at the rankings and everyone, including themselves, will want to play their best game. Is aware that England gave them a stern challenge back home in India, so will want his team to put its best foot forward.

For English fans, yesterday's heartbreak must have not yet sunk in. Football might not have brought the joy they were looking for, but Eoin Morgan and his men might. So, for now, let's focus on the cricket. India got the better of the hosts in the T20Is and before they prepare for the much-anticipated Test series, these ODIs will serve as more than sufficient preparation, at least in terms of getting used to conditions. The two sides stand on top of the rankings at the moment and we can expect more than a cracker of a series. Trent Bridge is the venue for the first match. The last time a game was played here, England made a record 481 runs. We don't think the surface will change much so brace yourselves for a run feast. Alex Hales will miss out the first ODI because of injury, and it will be a big loss for the home team as he has a great record on this pitch. For India, it seems that Bhuvneshwar Kumar will not be fit enough to start. Will be interesting to see who makes way into the XI. Toss and team news coming up in a bit.
