Namibia vs Singapore Highlights And Cricket Score 37th Match - T20 Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 NAM: 191/8

So the target for Singapore is 192 runs. Can they chase this down or will Namibia prevail over them? Do join us in a while for the chase.

Nothing much to speak of the Singapore bowlers. It was a no-show from them. They were thrashed all around the park. But once they managed to break the 70-run stand, the Singapore bowlers staged a small comeback with a flurry of wickets at the fag end of the Namibian innings. They managed to restrict the Namibian onslaught by conceding 42 runs in the last five overs but also picked up four wickets in the process. The star for them was their skipper, Amjad Mahboob who took 3 wickets while conceding 29 runs in the three overs he bowled.

What a batting performance we have seen from Namibia tonight! They started well with both their openers, Stephan Baard and Nikolaas Davin as they raced to 40 in quick time. Then came the Gerhard Erasmus show. He unleashed a flurry of boundaries to send the Singapore bowlers into frenzy. Erasmus was the aggressor in chief as he smashed young Sidhant Singh for 29 runs in one over. Kotze then departed after stitching a 70-run stand with his skipper. But Erasmus continued the merry work and also reached his fifty in the process. Kotze's wicket did give Namibia a scare as a flurry of wickets fell in pursuit of quick runs. But Gerhard Erasmus held fort before falling for a well made 72 runs.

19.6 W

Pitch report - Good pitch with some scarce grass on it. The surface might slow down a bit favoring the spinners later on.

Grehard Erasmus, Namibia skipper says that they haven't thought of any formula at the moment. Says that the guys have got the momentum from the last three games. On the surface, he adds that it's a great surface and thinks that this ground is tailor-made for them.

Amjad Mahboob, Singapore skipper says that he will field first. Tells that bowling first gives them the opportunity to restrict the opposition and then chase it down quickly. States that the net run-rate is important and hence the decision of bowling first.

Singapore (Playing XI) - Surendran Chandramohan, Rohan Rangarajan, Tim David, Aritra Dutta, Manpreet Singh(WK), Navin Param, Janak Prakash, Vinoth Baskaran, Amjad Mahboob(C), Sidhant Singh, Aryaman Sunil

Namibia (Playing XI) - Stephan Baard, Niko Davin, JP Kotze, Zane Green(WK), Gerhard Erasmus(C), JJ Smit, Craig Williams, Christi Viljoen, Jan Frylinck, Bernard Scholtz, Ben Shikongo

Toss - It's time for the flip of the coin. Up goes the coin and it lands in favour of Singapore. SINGAPORE WIN THE TOSS AND ELECT TO FIELD!

Welcome to the match 37th of the ICC World T20 Qualifiers. Today Namibia take on Singapore. Namibia with six points would look to win today's encounter and move a step closer to qualification. Namibia are high on confidence after thrashing Kenya in their last fixture. Whereas, Singapore are coming on the back of a loss against Papua New Guinea and would look to keep their hopes of qualifying alive with a win over the African nation. Toss and teams in a while.

End of Over : 17.1 SIN: 104/10

That is it from today's game. Namibia have sealed their place in the next stage of the qualifiers but we still do not know the full quota of who will join them. So far, Papua New Guinea and Netherlands have qualified from group A along with Namibia and Ireland and Oman have qualified from group B. Join us on Sunday for the last day of the qualifying group stages where we will know which all teams will go through to the play-offs. Join us on Sunday at 1000 Local (0600 GMT) for all the action.

Amjad Mahmood, the Singapore skipper, says that they started well but credits the Gerhard Erasmus who played a superb innings and took the game away. Points out that three dropped catches did not help them and believes they will work hard. Mahmood says that he did not mind chasing on this wicket. Mentions that his side played good cricket throughout the tournament and are taking a lot of positives from the tournament. Tells that they have few very good quick bowlers back in Singapore too.

Namibia skipper, Gerhard Erasmus, gets the Man of the Match award for his superb half ton. On his back-to-back half tons, Erasmus says that as a leader of the side he needed to step up and he is happy he did that. Adds that if the batters can get the timing right, the longer boundary should not be an issue. On the over where he hit 4 consecutive sixes, Erasmus says that he was happy to hit those runs from the middle of the bat. Adds that the entire batting has not fired together yet but they are not worried about it and will stay calm. On the bowlers, Erasmus mentions that the bowlers are skillful and if they can bowl on good lines and lengths, they can get any batters in the world out. Going into the next phase of the tournament, the skipper hopes that maybe the senior pros of the side can turn up in these pressure games and help the side win. On the dropped catches, Erasmus mentions that things like this happen. Adds that they have held on quite a few catches in the tournament so they can't term this as a weakness.

Earlier in the day, it was the Gerhard Erasmus show. He played aggressively throughout his knock of 72 runs off 46 balls. The other Namibian batters supported him throughout his innings as they played around him and helped their team post a huge score of 191 runs on the board. None of the bowlers showed any stomach for Singapore except their skipper Amjad Mahboob who took a 3-fer.

As for Namibia, they carried on the work that their batters did in the first innings as they destroyed the Singapore team. Jan Frylinck was top-notch throughout his spell as he took a 4-fer and bowled very good lines and lengths. He was ably supported by all his bowlers but Christi Viljoen is the one who stood out as he too took a 3-fer and finished off the innings.

Right from the word go, the Namibian bowlers were on top of the Singapore batters. No one except for Navin Param crossed even the 20-run mark for Singapore and it never looked like they would chase down this huge total set by the Namibia team.

Namibia have sailed through to a victory here over Singapore as they have defeated them by 87 runs! They move onto third place in their group which means that they have qualified to the next stage.
