Netherlands vs UAE Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Play-off Match - T20 Summary
That is it from this game. So Netherlands have joined the big dance and will fly to Australia next year for the World Cup. They have booked their place in style. They can now focus to win this tournament and will now eye to roll over Ireland in the semifinal. For the United Arab Emirates it was a day to forget but this is not the end of the road for them as they can still book a seat in the flight to Australia if they manage to win against Scotland. We are not done for the day as Namibia take on Oman later on. That game will begin at 1930 local (1530 GMT). Make sure you join us for that game. Till then, cheers!
Victorious Netherlands captain, Pieter Seelaar too, is surprised by the bounce and carry on the pitch but believes that it was one of the best exhibitions of fast bowling ever seen. But also adds that the best of Netherlands is yet to come. On the goals for future, Pieter says that the main goal was to qualify for the WT20 but next, their aim is to beat Ireland in the semi-final.
United Arab Emirates skipper, Ahmed Raza, says that he was surprised given the way the ball moved sideways. Admits that it is disappointing to have seen such inconsistent performances in the tournament but believes that they still have one more life left, so will concentrate on that game on Wednesday. On the message to his side, Raza says that they have been playing decent cricket and just need to lift themselves up. Congratulates Seelaar and the Netherlands.
BRANDON GLOVER HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that the aim was to hit a hard length outside off and it worked. On the tactics, praises Pieter Seelaar for changing the bowlers so that the batsmen did not get used to one bowler but then also says that on such pitches, no bowler likes to be taken off. On the celebration to have qualified for the WT20, Glover says that the team is happy but the bowlers will have to plan on their bowling lengths in that country accordingly.
Earlier in the day, the Dutch bowlers set up the victory for their side, restricting the hosts to a paltry score of 80. Brandon Glover was the star with the ball ending up with a 4-fer. There was hardly anything to talk about UAE's batting as almost everyone just threw in their towel.
Defending 80 was always going to be impossible. The bowlers tried their best but there just wasn't enough runs on the board to fight with. Zahoor Khan and Rohan Mustafa had something to cheer about as they managed to get one wicket apiece.
Only an abysmal performance from the Dutch was going to see them falter chasing a paltry target of 81. Though they lost Max O'Dowd early, they never looked troubled. Ben Cooper along with Colin Ackermann added a 51-run stand. The latter though departed but it was too late as Cooper and Ryan ten Doeschate ensured that there were no more casualties.
Netherlands have not just sealed their place in this tournaments semi-final, but they have also booked their ticket for next year's World Cup in Australia.
